Mostly true. However I did watch "The Snowman", intentionally, after having seen it on one of these lists... and actually really enjoyed it, so you never know.
The James channel No, let's all forget that movie, please. I haven't seen it myself, but from what I've heard about it, and clips I've seen, I don't want ANYTHING to do with that movie EVER.
My friends who aren't very well-versed in horror films were freaking out at House At The End of the Street as I was basically predicting every single jump scare in the entire freaking thing.
Michael Lavoie oh my gooooooooooooood do you think cgi is the only important thing in a movie. These movies make me sleep and they are fucking restricted for my age.
LulzTV it No, he’s talking about the CG Resident Evil movies that’re actually based on the games, Resident Evil: Degeneration and Resident Evil: Damnation. And then there was recently a new one called Resident Evil: Vendetta.
Have you seen any of the CGI Resident Evil films? There's one from 2008 called 'Degeneration' with characters from the second video game, Leon and Claire. It's got some anime elements to it, maybe just the feel of one in certain scenes but as a huge fan of the games I found it very satisfying. If not a little too long. The other one is Resident Evil: Damnation , which I haven't seen yet but it was made in 2012 and got an above average rating. Check them out! They may be right up your alley if you enjoyed the games as much as I did.
There really isn't any competition (and somehow SH: Rev still took away from it anyway). Being a bit of a crazed fangirl of the games, I hated the first one, it was just a ridiculous mess that people go around thinking represents the games when it really doesn't (and back then I hadn't really watched any video game movie "adaptations" before so I had no idea how bad they were in general). Like it might've been okay by itself if they weren't pretending it had anything to do with Silent Hill, that's pretty much what I think of it. There are no. witches. seriously. fucking understand the first thing about what you're claiming to adapt, sheesh. And etcetera. So by the time Revelation came out, I had zero expectations of anything good... and it basically delivered on those expectations. Such a rich and deep source material, so much they could've done with it - and such a nonsensical dire piece of drivel they came up with instead! Based mainly on the third game, which has maybe the best selection of monsters to pick from, out of which they chose precisely one... which didn't even look anything like it... I'm almost kinda glad the series is dead at this point. Let's hope that at least means the films are too.
My Worst Films Of 2012: 1. Ice Age: Continental Drift (It was so suffering to watch. The animation is so horrendously awful and The voice acting is horrendous. The characters are so annoying but the worst character is Captain Gutt, who is one of the worst villains I have ever seen in my life!) 2. Silent Hill: Revelation 3. Alex Cross 4. Piranha 3DD 5. This Means War 6. The Three Stooges 7. The House At The End Of The Street 8. Resident Evil: Retribution 9. The Apparition 10. Underworld: Awakening 11. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 12. That's My Boy 13. Gone 14. Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 15. Wrath Of The Titans 16. Total Recall 17. Smiley 18. Chernobyl Diaries 19. The Campaign 20. Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengance Dishonorable Mentions: The Watch, Madea's Witness Protection, Act Of Valor, The Cold Light Of Day, Dark Tide, A Thousand Words, Storage 24, Playing For Keeps, Paranormal Activity 4, ATM, The Lorax, Comedown, The Paperboy, and Battleship
I absolutely love your reviews but I would love to see you review some foreign films. At this point in time I am absolutely repulsed by Hollywood it has almost completely been usurped by uncreative types chasing dollars and for the most part only watch indies and foreign films. I love your indie reviews but you should give some love to the rest of the world, there are many great films constantly being made out of the US. A great place to start would be Korea :)
Best part of the Lucky One is when Efron does his PTSD face while the kids are playing video games. I would say pause it during that scene but he pauses his own face for you.
10.) Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 9.) Seven Psychopaths 8.) The Bourne Legacy 7.) Total Recall 6.) Snow White and the Huntsman 5.) Contraband 4.) Taken 2 3.) Battleship 2.) The Campaign 1.) To Rome With Love (I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this movie!)
I agree for the most part, though have to disagree with your most hated movie: Piranha 3DD knows EXACTLY what it is, pure, stupid trash with some boobs and pranks, it does not give a single fuck for blockbuster standards or logic - see the gory on-screen childdecapitation or the brick-scene to go underwater xD - and just wants to be stupid fun, which it is if you what you´re going into with a few guys n beers. A bad movie, yes, but self-ironic and with no pretension at all. And in my opinion, Hoffs acting was hilarious! :D Nice video anyway, keep up your Hilariocity reviews!
I'm so glad you didn't put Prometheus or Cloud Atlas on this. Those were two movies that some people were hating on way too much last year that my friends and I really enjoyed. Although we did go see Silent Hill: Revelation right after Cloud Atlas. I completely agree with you there. Damn, I'm glad we didn't pay to see that.
The Woman in black is probably one of the only horrors in the world that doesn't repeat scenes. For example, Paranormal activity, all they do is record, Sinister, every night something bad happens, etc.
Man, I feel like I'm the only person who liked The Three Stooges. The side characters in the movie were awful and annoying... but the three leads did a really good job of recreating the feel of the original tv show imo
My dad doesn't know anything about horror, I wanna watch I scary movie. "Ooooooooooh house at the end of the street, Jennifer Lawrence, what could go wrong?"
10) Ah? It slipped through the cracks for me... 9) Ah? I kinda liked it at the time, but I agree it's kinda forgettable. 8) Two words: guilty pleasure : ) 7) Not the worst thing I saw... 6) One word: disappointment : ( 5) ??? 4) Yeah... I watched this again lately and I still forgot half of the movie! 3) I sincerely don't remember this... Yet it seems familiar. 2) This. This was made? I had no idea... 1) Lol... This was the dumbest flick I tried to watch! I had to stop at the "piranha in vagina" scene because I didn't want to get stuck in the cringe position, with no one to help!
i agree with''Sparkle'' is one of the worst movie of 2012.I believe Whitney Houston deserved a better project before passing away.Even''The Bodyguard'' I realized recently is not very good movie.
It starts out as found footage but once they meet up with his brother, it's a regular movie. No one runs around with a camera at all from that point on.
I crisply remember eagerly waiting for this one to come out after Chris had done the "Best of" list back in 2012. This dude has been a part of my life for more than a decade now. Fuckin' hell, time flies!
The OG Three Stooges are funny in fifteen-minute bursts. 90 straight minutes of them is too much, especially when the movie they're in is trying to make you feel sorry for them. This Means War had one good gag, and it was right at the end, when they stopped the villain because his car had faulty airbags. It actually played into Witherspoon's character of a person running a Consumer Reports-style magazine, pointing out flaws in products.
I couldn't agree more about Apparition. Has Ashley Greene ever got a leading role since? Beautiful woman but that movie was the celluloid version of a diet rice cake.
Was totally expecting #1 to be the atrocity entitled THAT'S MY BOY! Can't believe this fucking turd didn't even make an honorable mention... I'll just chalk this up to it being so horrible that Mr. Stuckman blocked it out of his memory. That is one of the most painfully terrible movies I've ever seen.
Chris is a true artist. Without to many curse words or raising his voice, he gives really funny and entertaining rants. He never goes over the top, and describes these movies with reasonable points as what they are, but at the same time i'm laughing my ass off ha ha. Chris you are awesome!
Great video, man. I'm actually surprised by the lack of films on your list that appear on mine. Then again, I didn't get a chance to see "Alex Cross," "Sparkle," or "House At The End Of The Street." My top 10 worst films: 1. Chernobyl Diaries 2. The Devil Inside 3. That's My Boy 4. Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance 5. One For The Money 6. A Thousand Words 7. Battleship 8. Total Recall 9. Dredd (my controversial pick, as it's actually got decent critical reception) 10. The Apparition
My worst films of 2012: 1. The Odd Life of Timothy Green 2. Flight 3. The Three Stooges 4. Star Wars: the Phantom Menace 3D 5. Piranha 3DD 6. The Dictator 7. The Cold Light of Day 8. Paranormal Activity 4 9. The Five-year Engagement 10. Brave
Okay. I watched House at the end of the Street expecting it to be terrible. I summed it up in the opening credits. Crazy chic alive in the woods, new girl shows up to town, crazy chic goes Michael Myers on everyone. I was pleasantly surprised when the movie took a you down that predictable plot and blew your expectations at a key plot turning point. Then it played homage to old slasher movies and continued to surprise you by defeating those stereotypes.
In all fairness, I don't think you need to see a movie like Piranha 3dd to know it's going to suck. How about picking on some better cast and bigger budgeted films that were simply terrible?
10. Taken 2, 9. Chernobyl diaries, 8. Twilight breaking dawn part 2, 7. The lucky one, 6. This means war, 5. Piranha 3dd, 4. Battleship, 3. Project x, 2. The apparition, 1. Resident evil retribution
It's so interesting seeing his older videos because he's more subdued and less willing to curse versus now where his videos are so high energy and he curses all he wants and i get some of the best laughs from it xD I wonder why that isssss
okay Chris, listen to this. I know someone who's favorite film, OF ALL TIME, is 'Piranha 3DD', and when i asked him if he had seen 'Wreck It Ralph', and he said 'Yeah, and it was shit.' I was tempted to punch him in the face, and we haven't been friends since then. No reason why I told you that story, but it just shows how dumb the general public are when it comes to movies
Why does every worst movie of 2012 list does not include Foodfight. I hate Foodfight. That movie is a joke. The budget is a joke. The story is a joke. The CGI is garbage. And it's full of copyright. For example: "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a spam (damn)". The story is a parody of Toy Story but with food instead of toys.
Hey Chris. If you want a resident evil film series that's actually good, you should check out RE: Degeneration and Damnation. They're WAY better than the Anderson films in my opinion, but I want to hear your take on them. So check them out if you ever get the chance.
Same. I enjoyed retribution for what it was. I hated the apparition it was so boringgggg. It was time wasted that I'll never get back. I also find it to one of the worst horror films I've ever seen. Piranha 3DD was so bad that I just hated it with passion.
You should watch Resident Evil: Degeneration and Damnation. They have the same voice actors that appear in the game and the plot is actually relevant to RE universe. I found them to be slightly corny at times but overall it was done very well
10:19 I fucking died at your description of your #1 Worst film of the year. I so rarely hear you call a film "piece of absolute dog shit" with such enthusiasm. Thanks, Chris!
Obviously it's a little late to comment on this, but I recently discovered this channel (I love it and am subscribed), saw this video, and had to comment on one movie you mentioned. Silent Hill Revelation came out the day before my 21st birthday. I love the game series so much, I saw this as an early birthday present. Kinda sweet, huh? My ignorance blinded me, I was too excited to even see all the warning signs of it being a bad film. It took me an hour after viewing it before the horribleness finally hit me. I'm being serious when I say I don't remember anything that happened on my birthday except for that movie. It was so bad, I felt too disappointed, angry, and betrayed to drink any alcohol in an attempt to forget it all. That movie ruined my 21st birthday, the last birthday one can be proud of in their lifetime. That's how bad Silent Hill Revelation was for me.
Never go back to this haircut.
Ross Mumper I'd take this over his emo Peter Parker cut any day.

I'm ashamed to say that I liked Underworld: Awakening. It's a terrible movie for sure, but I was mindlessly entertained by it for some reason I cannot explain. A guilty pleasure if there ever was one.

why does everyone think Jennifer Lawrence is such an amazing actor? She is very average to me at best
I totally agree with you. I've never really felt any emotion in any character she's portrayed. I especially can't stand her in the Hunger Games.
Dominic Cunneen well glad i found someone else who feels the same she is hot but an actress not so much
Well she has an oscar for a reason. She's good.
+Timothy Reynolds Sooo by your logic Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't have an Oscar, I guess he sucks then...

The director seemed more concerned with focusing the camera on Linda Blair's Huge Boobs than he did in making a coherent movie?
Mostly true. However I did watch "The Snowman", intentionally, after having seen it on one of these lists... and actually really enjoyed it, so you never know.
Piranha 3DD is only rivaled by the pile of shit we call Sharknado.
Sharknado is a masterpiece!

As far as video game movies go , the first silent hill was pretty good. There's not much competition though
Well, we'll have a bunch of them coming out this year. I think Warcraft is the best video game movie so far.

There really isn't any competition (and somehow SH: Rev still took away from it anyway). Mike Paul Chris does?
Douchey and snobbish at times.
Mike Paul I haven't noticed
Horror + horrible = Horrorble, A new movie genre
What happened to ur HAIR
Playing with Knives super cuts
Chernobyl Diaries isn't found footage and was actually a pretty good horror movie.
It is found footage.... 101% sure
It starts out as found footage but once they meet up with his brother, it's a regular movie. No one runs around with a camera at all from that point on.
ah ok sry, forgot about that ^^
You need to see more horror movies if you think that's a good one.
I've seen plenty. And, for the record, It Follows and The Babadook suck.
Chris looks way to pale.
I crisply remember eagerly waiting for this one to come out after Chris had done the "Best of" list back in 2012. This dude has been a part of my life for more than a decade now. Fuckin' hell, time flies!
*Just like, what?!!* LOL.
Jennifer Lawrence talented??? She's downright awful, I can barely tolerate the movies that she wrecks.
blackfox1320 I think chris meant popular instead of talented
I couldn't agree more about Apparition. Has Ashley Greene ever got a leading role since? Beautiful woman but that movie was the celluloid version of a diet rice cake.
I'm surprised you didn't mention House At the End of the Street
Then again, I didn't get a chance to see "Alex Cross," "Sparkle," or "House At The End Of The Street."
My top 10 worst films:
1. Chernobyl Diaries
2. The Devil Inside
3. That's My Boy
4. Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance
5. One For The Money
6. A Thousand Words
7. Battleship
8. Total Recall
9. Dredd (my controversial pick, as it's actually got decent critical reception)
10. The Apparition
when chris talks about piranha 3DD he sounds like mclovin 10:18
I thought underworld awakening was awesome! I had a fun time with it
Different people, different opinions. Even I somewhat liked it
This must've been a terrible year. When your 10th worst pick has the worst fight scene you've ever seen.
I actually liked the three stooges. It was a big silly in places though.
My worst films of 2012:
1. The Odd Life of Timothy Green
2. Flight
3. The Three Stooges
4. Star Wars: the Phantom Menace 3D
5. Piranha 3DD
6. The Dictator
7. The Cold Light of Day
8. Paranormal Activity 4
9. The Five-year Engagement
10. Brave
I know you didn't mention this but Parental Guidance was actually a really special movie for me at the time.
Finally, someone who sees Paul W.S. Anderson for the hack that he is. Cheers brother.
10. Taken 2, 9. Prometheus, 8. Underworld awakening, 7. Chernobyl diaries, 6. Alex cross, 5. Total recall, 4. This means war
I love Resident Evil: Retribution, I despised The Apparition and Piranha 3DD (glad those 2 are on your list lol). Awesome reviews.
100% agree. Piranha 3DD was the biggest piece of shit of 2012. I want that hour and a half of my life back.
:(
I cannot believe that the guy who voiced Pete Kowalski in Bully was in Piranha 3DD, I feel bad for him
