What are your thoughts on the X-T50?

I brought my XT5 back to store and bought the XT50. I am so used to the size and weight of my old XT20 that I consciously chose the XT50. It is the perfect travel camera for me. Together with the X100F it is my professional setup.

The purpose of the camera is the small size.

And if you had to choose between the x-t50 kit and the x-s20 kit, which would you choose? Thinking of a use mainly for photography, and some video sporadically.

If you are into photography, I would recommend the X-T5. It is hard for me to recommend the X-T50 tbh for what you lose compared to the X-T5 and the minor price difference.

100% agree. I waited for the release of the X-T50 to make my final decision on my upgrade path for my X-T4 and because it lacked weather resistance it removed the X-T50 out of the running. I've been using the X-T4 and the X-S20 for a little while now. I've kept the X-S20 for the moment because it's a nice lighter EDC body, but opted for the X-T5 for my weather sealed body. I might still consolidate down further to just the X-T5 in the long run because I like to stay fairly minimal but time will tell as I've only had my X-T5 for a little over a month at the moment.

Be careful. There are many cases on the internet of users who have damaged their XT5 due to just a little drizzle. It seems that the sealing of XT5 is not being good.

I have used it extensively in the rain. No issue on my side (so far)

@@tearspoint8153 I’m pretty certain if you look hard enough there’s a number of other WR cameras that have had similar issues X-T4, X-T3, X-H1 and 2 but my question with those is how many are due to user error of thinking their lens was also WR when it wasn’t? How many are due to open port covers? How many are from leaving the hot shoe exposed? I mostly need the WR to cover the case of sudden downpour while I’m preparing an umbrella with a WR lens. I don’t use flash outdoors and keep a cover on my hotshoe when I’m not actively using it. I make extra sure my coversare all closed for my ports before I leave, I don’t use a my X-T5 for video so I don’t use it with an external microphone or monitor that expose the ports. Can rain still maybe gain ingress through the settings dials? Sure but it’s less likely than on a completely unsealed body. Shooting in the rain is always a risk but I’m minimizing my risk wherever possible. I’m not going to hold my X-T5 under a waterfall to tempt fate but I’m not going to just not shoot in the rain at all with it I’ll baby my X-S20 because it has no WR but I’ll risk having to have warranty service done under conditions that the X-T5 is rated to handle. It might be an inconvenience but at least it’ll be covered under the warranty unlike if I were to take out an X-T50 or X-S20 in the same conditions.

Nice session. Can you set the film simulation wheel to other use on X-T50? On X-S20 you can remap the dial. The lack of weather sealing starts to bother me a bit.

There are 3 customs mode that you can remap but… then I would rather have a pasm dial

which lens is better in macro ? 70- 300 mm fujifilm or fuji 16-50 mm ?

Both are not made for that. But I would assume 16-50

On point xt5 is a better choice, I have not even bothered to view this camera reviews, Im waiting for fuji to see what they are bringing on the xpro4 or xh3s

I was waiting new compact camera from fuji for last couple years and will pass this one. Fuji need to fix two things - add weather resistance and make film sims dial customizable to control drive modes, iso, etc. Weather resistance seems so easy and cheap to add but eager marketing doesn't allow it, otherwise who will buy XT-5? And I don't need xt-5 even for the same price as xt-50, I need light and compact, xt-5 100g heavier than xt-50 which is a lot for me.

All these complaints…why buy the camera?

  • @NJM1948

I have the XT5 as my main camera. I shoot RAW so never use the film sims. I was eagerly awaiting the XT50 as my everyday carry round baby brother to the XT5 - then I saw this gimmicky film sim dial and I was really disappointed. This is an expensive serious camera with the same internals as the XT5 so why have they given the sims a dedicated dial???? They can be accesses quite easily as they are on other models, so why make this otherwise excellent carry around camera look like a beginners jpeg shooter camera?
It wouldn't be so bad if they had left it blank (as they did with the film sim dial on the XS10) and / or made the dial assignable (again as they have on the XS10)
I thought long and hard about pre ordering this camera after seeing this dial, but in the end I have ordered it and I will just have to ignore the dial and get on with it!!!
