Very informative. Thanks Gabi. Great job as always.
Thanks for watching!
Such a great channel! Your videos always go into great detail on features others ignore. Looking forward to seeing the new Sorrento!
Thank you so much!
Thanks Gabi for a wonderful video, and thank you for my new band name idea.. Cabin Customers 😄
Thanks Gabi! I always wondered how this feature affects my starter! God bless you!
Thanks for watching!
It affects it by shortening the life of the starter and the battery. It is impossible for it not to have some affect.
Love your videos, specially the Hyundai videos. greetings from Puerto Rico.
Hey, thanks!
Very nice ! 🌟
I love auto stop engine. It is only used when battery is charged. Does A off, also turns off sailing mode?
ive got a 2024 kona AWD and i noticed a burning oil smell coming from the car when i first bought it. it went away but it came back. i looked it up and found that the car has a recall on it for the idle stop and go transmission for a bad manufactured board. however my VIN isnt included in the recall. ive taken it to the dealer but they say that didnt find anything wrong but the smell is STILL there. what can i do aboit this?
Wow!
Shout out to those cabin customers. ✊️✊️✊️
i have a 2024 kona. please explain why there is a burning smell associated with this feature that caused a recall to be issued. #246. please look it up and let us know whats happening with it. it may cause fires. im having buyers remorse.
my VIN is not covered by the recall but im experiencing the same issues as the recall covered vehicles. my dealer said they cant find a problem but i can still smell the burning oil. my car VIN should be added to the recall to force them to do the repair.
shout out to all the cabin customers.. you know who you are.
Couldn’t of done it without the Cabin customers 😌
Too bad that LWB (long wheel base) Sportage is not available in Europe. I'd really go with that longer body of Sportage. These 15cm make huge difference while in it.
I've had 2 Kia's with this and the feature never worked consistently. Also, it developed a creaking noise from the brakes as it disengaged. It is a feature that needs to be canned.
That button is in every car with that feature?
There may be slight variations, but the button is generally the A with the arrow
Starter more robust = more expensive to repair when it goes kaput.
Thanks for the comment! Our parts department has cross compared starters for vehicles equipped with idle-stop-and-go and those that aren’t. You’d be surprised that there isn’t a large difference between the starters (only about $20 CAD). Most manufacturers include idle-stop-and-go in their vehicles, so there’s a wide range of starters and price points out there. Of course, this is just from our regions availability, prices may vary world wide. 😊 Thanks for the comment!
Is there a way to permanently disable it rather than doing it manually every time you start your Car?
nope
I was kind of hoping there could be a fuse you could pull or something...
Idle stop and go according to expert mechanics come with concerns especially on certain vehicles greetings from oakville
yes they do. according to recall documents, its a known issue that can lead to fires. the palisade, kona, elantra have this known recall. ots recall #246 on the hyundal recalls page. 😳😣
I personally just turn it off. I'm almost never at an intersection in the area I drive mostly long enough for it to amount to anything. The other annoying thing is that it will even activate when I stop at a stop sign, because it doesn't differentiate using the camera for example to tell the difference. It's more of an intrusionary feature then something helpful at least for me.
Thanks for sharing your opinion, and that’s totally valid!
The first time i witnessed the auto stop feature, I was on my way home with my brand new car from the dealer. As I got about 6 miles from the dealer I came to a red light. Not only did it cut off but I saw this sign Auto Hold light on also. I was so scared and I was thinking my key wasn’t close enough to the steering wheel. I put my hazards on and I called my daddy.
Me: Daddy my car stopped on me. Why did you tell me to buy a Kia?
Dad: I didn’t tell you to go buy a used Kia.
Me: it is new… it’s a 2024
Dad: well nobody told you to go out there a buy a damn Kia.
Me: Hello? Daddy? Hello!!!?
I pressed on the gas just to see what would happen. Let’s just say, thank goodness the light I was at for 3 minutes was green again. I shot across that road like a cannonball.
Wow - that sounds like a crazy first experience. Unfortunately, it sounds like the features weren’t properly explained to you when you picked up your vehicle. Sorry you had to go through that
the feature is trash and it stopped working on my Telluride like 2 years ago.
I've always found this feature irritating, doesn't even work half the time anyway so not sure what the point even is of having it. Just puts wear on the starter as others have said.
One of the worst ideas to ever be implemented.
You should be able to permanently disable the feature.
Once I buy the car it should be my choice to use it or not
Not a good feature.
the most annoying feature🤬 i would rather do not have it
False. You aren't saving any money in the end. It does in fact affect the starter, battery, and electrical system. It is a terrible feature.
Idle stop and go should be removed from all cars as it is annoying and also pointless. You are not saving a huge amount of fuel. It also puts wear and tear on your engine, starter and oil pump! Personally I turn it off. All manufacturers should give the option to permanently disable it!!
how do you know this
Agreed,it was an easy way for the manufacturers to post their fuel consumption to a lesser amount. In the long run you save so little it's not worth the wear and tear.
Has my EVgot a oil pump
This has been on pretty much all cars in Europe for decades!
You can disable it yourself there is a button on the dashboard to do it
