I grew up in Wellingborough in the 60s, 70s and 80s and remember the east end of Mill Road crossing over the railway line and continuing onto rural lanes and farms. We used to pick blackberries (to eat) and rosehips (for winemaking) in the autumn from the hedges that lined the lanes. Sad to see this ugly development with the roads scarring & wrecking what used to be farmland and open spaces. On the positive side, an excellent drone view of this and the old railway sheds which I'm glad to hear are now preserved. Thanks so much to Dave at PurpleVision and his drone :-)
A very informative video Dave, it's very sad that this whole green area is being swallowed up like this. Also very sad how the farm has been compulsory purchased. Please keep these brilliant video's coming. Jon.😉👍
Thanks bud. I did notice coming through the borough of irthling's that they are putting new houses there! When do you think those houses will meet the others from Wellingbugger? All the best....
Hi purple💜👋I've lived in Irchester for 40 years and watched it expand outwards, but nothing like the expansion of Wellingborough. Looks👀so huge when seen👀from above😱what a shame that all the green belt fields will be replaced by houses🤔.
Thanks for informative video. I’d wondered what the extent of the development was. The drone shots bring it into perspective. It seems Wellingborough will be a lot bigger with all the developments around the area.
Thanks Dave. Likewise I find your series very informative and I guess that history buffs of the future will use them for their reseach. A lot of the stuff you cover is not immediatekly obvious so it gives us a great feel of all things historically. Living in Finedon I guess we will be swallowed up by Wellingborough and Stanton Cross in the not too distant future.
Developers can't touch Finedon. The ground is too unstable from ironstone mining. Maybe one day they may build on the fields to the left of Station road as you drive towards Burton Latimer. Was a land fill site and once the land settles fully they may decide to build on that bit but the rest 😂 good luck to em if they dare 😂
All this built in line with a Wellingborough development plan in which the community was involved and which fulfills genuine local housing needs? Or just wealthy property developers cashing in at the expense of that community? Still, at least the new residents of Stanton Cross get to enjoy raw sewage and a potential future smallpox outbreak......
Railway station is getting expanded on the stanton cross side, eventually that will be the main access for the train station. Also, there'll be a 2nd primary school nearer Finedon road and 1 secondary school on the corner of Sidegate lane and Irthlingborough road.
How unfortunate. Yes we need some new housing but 1, not this much. 2, not this expensive. 3, not without the infrastructure to go with it. Where's the hospital? The schools are welcome, I hope there will be GP surgeries too. Not only that, but these houses are being chucked up so quickly with such cheap materials, I've heard rumors that some are already subsiding.
I live in irchester and this lot is now my view! 😢 it’s horrible to see especially as the horrible bright red and yellow bricks go up, no taste no style just cheap overpriced crap, that is a blight on the country side

Brilliant video as always , Wellingborough is certainly changing from when I lived there . Like every where it seems to be getting bigger .
EXCELLENT.
Thank you Keith. I hope we have done you proud

Thanks for all your support and legendary words Jon
I’ve got no connection to Northampton/Wellingborough, but I find your videos very interesting, Thanks for the content purple H 👊🏽
Wellingborough is so historic and I had no idea of any of it until 3 years ago. Just passing on the knowledge

That’s a heck of a development, still, those that buy will be leaving accommodation more suitable for our new Albanian citizens
Do you have any any copys of the road plans for Stanton cross please and building plans there useing for this murder of our wild life and history ?
Is it possible to email you some corrected info of the site for your next update?

@@PurpleVision23 Thanks Dave - makes sense.

Exactly what you just said. Bang on
What’s happening to the Midland Works site, has been fenced off and not touched?
Not a clue. Still waiting for a reply from the landowner which is not Bovis Homes or any other developer
I think the old mill wheel could be still in place
So Wellingborough not getting a new railway station on the Stanton cross side or a new secondary school.
Nope
@@PurpleVision23 so what's the point in all these plans. Just to not stick to it.

Can you find any info on Westfield's lodge farm it was demolished in the early 60 s to build Ruskin infants !! Many thanks
Hmmm. I'll add it to list and see what we have a Wellingborough Museum
I would not want to live on that estate .

If I was 20 years younger I would leave Wellingborough as they have destroyed it !!!!
That's running from the problem. I'm here to eventually, somehow.... grab the bull by the horns. Just don't know how yet but I feel something coming

Blight is a polite word for it
@@PurpleVision23 well! I wouldn’t want to go full force on here 🤐
