Aaron smiling during all of Dusty’s add reads is the reason I’ll never skip through the adds. It reminds me of two high schoolers waiting for the other to mess up reading out loud in class
Best parenting advice: Money will come and go, but they’re only little once. No matter what you do, you will regret not making enough time and not enjoying all their stages thoroughly enough, but do all you can to make those regrets as few as possible. My oldest daughter just turned 13 and it’s hard not to wonder where the time went and feel like you didn’t enjoy the little moments enough. So enjoy them.
1:18:25 As an OG folk, listening to Nate talk about stand-up over the last three years feels like a master class about comedy. It truly has opened up my eyes to how intricate and intentional a set is. It has made me appreciate stand-up as a true art form.
It’s not the food that causes illness and death, it’s the traumatic emotional events in one’s life that cause disease, cancers, and death. Most cancer deaths are caused by chemo and fear directed by the drug companies who profit from your fear.
HI folks, me and my wife came from Brazil to see your show in orlando at Kia center (02/17/24), bought the tickets at the pre sale and planned all the trip around your show. BEST INVESTIMENT EVER, the show was great, the openers were great, the host was great, everything a real Folk loves. Keep doing the great job guys, i hope onde day I can see all the BAND together. Alexandre Andrade
I am a farmer and rancher in Nebraska and really appreciated the shout-out to farming. Listening to you all try and talk about farming made me understand what it must be like for somebody trying to be funny to a stand up comedian (aside from Dusty, he had a pretty decent handle on it). Keep it up, I enjoy the pod, no matter the length.
@@brianbatescomedy you're right, I should've given you more credit ha ha. Hauling small square bales is a tough job, and I haven't ever been around tobacco but I've heard it's hard work. Thanks for all the work you do to make the podcast go Brian
Shout out to you guys! I planned to propose to my girlfriend but had a 30 minute drive to the location. I didn't want the drive to be awkward since I was nervous and it was quiet so I played Nateland in the background. We made it to the location at sunset, dropped to a knee and she said yes! Thank for helping calm my nerves guys!
Without sounding creepy. I've spent 2 hours a week with you guys, through the podcast, for the past two years, so now it feels like I'm part of your world in a weird way. I wasn't upset about the change to 1 hour format, because it's obvious how wild life is for Nate and the rest of you, but I was going to miss the extra time. Ultimately it's better to have a shorter podcast than not to have it at all. I am always rooting for you guys, thanks for putting up with us rowdy folks!
If you are an aspiring farmer hoping to hear and learn the latest on farming, you are definitely watching the wrong video 😊 Great to see you guys back together, thanks for all the laughs
It’s not the food that causes illness and death, it’s the traumatic emotional events in one’s life that cause disease, cancers, and death. Most cancer deaths are caused by chemo and fear directed by the drug companies who profit from your fear.
I laughed so hard when Brian said I'd look to see if they started the clock yet in the scenario of him falling. The image of Brian falling and Nate going start the clock. START THE CLOCK is just hilarious to me.
Bates-“ how much steak you think you could you eat in one sitting?” Aaron- “I mean, two pounds, is that a lot?” Nate- “So say ounces, so be regular”😂 Man, 96oz of beef is quite a bit. A Big Mac is made with two 1.6oz patties or 3.2oz of beef. You’d be eating the equivalent of meat in 30 Big Macs, or 24 quarter pounders ( 4oz of meat in a quarter pounder) I have a feeling this math will make more sense to Nate😂
Just like Bates, we worked tobacco growing up. My granddad had a tobacco allotment on a small farm in Southwest Virginia just about 50 miles north of the Tennessee state line. I got nicotine poisoning one summer carrying the tobacco in from the fields to the barn. My great grandparents were sharecroppers on that farm and my great grandfather couldn't read or write. I'm now working on my dissertation for a doctorate in Business Administration from Liberty University. Farming has been a huge part of our family's history.
Once Dusty said he was an Usher fan on 2003, the visual image of Dusty singing “You Got it Bad” in a room by himself or “You Make Me Wanna” while gazing at a picture of his school girl crush is one that’ll stick every time i listen to this episode. Needless to say, this will probably be the only time I listen to this episode then. Looking forward to the next episode guys
I love the complimenting around a good ad read segue. Like dads grouped around a grill admiring the meats. 😂 This podcast is so good, thanks for always being your 2-hour selves.
Nate's perspective wanting his act to be seamless and cohesive, crafting it as an art form and wanting it to be "a movie" kind of experience really reminds me of Mike Birbiglia, my other favorite comedian. I absolutely love the way Mike has a dominant narrative in all his specials that branches off into a hundred stories without you even realizing it. The Tennessee Kid and My Girlfriend's Boyfriend are the only two comedy specials I've watched more than once as I continually show other people.
Would love a “Farming part 2” but also LOVED the comedy discussion!! I have been working from home for a little over 2 years now and watching comedy and podcasts have become kind of my “hobby” as I don’t get out a whole lot between working at home and raising my family. I always look forward to Nateland and loved this deep dive discussion on y’all’s passion. ❤ Amazing as always boys.
I was in FFA in jr high school. We competed in parliamentary procedure and I was the keeper of the corn. I had a whole corn keeping speech. I guess it taught me something. Also just commenting so Nate can butcher my name. Love you guys! Heather Agee
I love that Aaron said he could eat 32 ounces of steak and they told him he could eat more. So then he said maybe 96 and they told him that was too much. Apparently Aaron is the only one in the room that doesn’t know how much steak he can eat.
Years ago while going to Publix, my wife and I saw a Girl Scout selling cookies out in front. She was yelling “Girl Scout cookies! 1 for $5, or 4 for $20!” She was SLINGING it out there, selling 4 boxes at a time as if it were the only option. She basically ran out of stock by the time we were done grocery shopping due to her hilarious/genius little “deal” she was running.
Aaron said you dont get into farming for the money, you do it because you love it. Im a farmer, we raise cattle, sheep, and chickens. We love it, but we're definitely in it for the money. The flexible schedule and being your own boss are just added benefits. It really is like comedy, if you love it, you'll do it well and be successful. Dustys ted talk on feeding hay was spot on. If he fed a bale of hay today, it certainly wouldn't be his first rodeo.
I'm starting to homestead. Trying to go perpetual by moving grazing animals to one section of the field so I can grow crops there next year while I put the animals on the other side of the field during the grow, and then flip flop for constantly fertile and grazed land.
Random comment in connection with this podcast… I often rewatch y’all’s specials. Mostly Nate’s because he started me on his path of discoveries and/or promotions. Anyway… I’m rewatching Nate’s, “Hello World”, on Prime. I think about this every time I watch it… I was born in ‘71, in Jacksonville, FL. We lived just north in a small town called, Fernandina Beach (fancy folk know it as, Amelia Island). I was about four or five years old. We visited with our kin every Sunday. My great Aunt Shirley and my Uncle Tommy told me they had a cat that just had kittens. What five year old child doesn’t want to see kittens?! I went out to the backyard, the grass seemed a little high to me, but at the time, what does a five year old know? I’m calling for their cat that just had kittens, thinking she will emerge from the tall grass, with her kittens. I’m focused. I keep calling. I’m looking all around. Silence. I’m not giving up, dang it! I call again… I look around… right in front of me, I see a tiny kitten, bounding over the tall grass, towards me. My five year old self cannot contain my joy!! The little kitten gets a step and a bend down, towards me. I’m SO excited that I’m about to pet, maybe hold, this kitten! Two seconds before I touch the top of this little kitty’s head…. a giant eagle swoops down and snatches it up in it’s talons. Woooosh. Off it goes. This single event has caused me great anxiety throughout my life. 🤯 My family was sitting on the patio, behind me, as I did this. Encouraging me to not give up calling for the kittehs. I wish I could remember what explanations they had to impart after I coaxed a kitten out of hiding to it’s death. The cats clearly understood the situation and their chances of survival. Except for that one…
Oh my word, that is awful. I’m getting PTSD just reading this story. That would have messed me up for life. I’ve always been an animal lover since I was a little girl. 😥😥
Hey bear! I’m with Bates, Nate’s new hour had my face hurting from laughing so much (along with his guests). I got to see Nate and Breakfast in KC this past weekend, and there weren’t many Folks around me. It seems like most people there loved the repeat of Nate’s SNL monologue jokes. Keep them in the special! It makes people feel like an insider. Great show btw. My husband became a huge fan of everyone in the show! I love that Nate brings up so many awesome comedians with him!
There are tons of cows in Central Florida - cattle is a big part of the history of Europeans settling in Florida! "Cattle were first introduced to North America in Florida in 1521 by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon. The largest single brood cow herd in the US is located in Florida." - Florida Department of Agriculture. Nate: "Florida is the last place you would find cows." Can't wait for the show in Orlando this weekend!
I think the two best comedians who are producing right now are Nate and Mike Birbiglia. A month or two ago Birbiglia mentioned how natural Nate is. Now that Nate is publicly exploring more about the craft, I'd love to see him on the Working it Out podcast.
Just got my tickets to see Nate a week from today in Bangor, Maine!! Sooooo pumped! Wondering, who is opening for you Nate? Also, LET’S GOOOOO! on Sunday!!
If we can bully Nate into keeping the podcast at 2 hours, then we can bully him into FINALLY watching Shawshank...at this point it just seems deliberate 🤣
Unrelated to today’s episode, but last week I stopped at a Starbucks to get drinks for myself and my coworker. He asked for a Cafe mocha with cream. Sure enough, when the barista called out my drink order she yelled “cafe mocha whipped cream!”. I did my best to contain my laughter in front of everyone, but 5 years later that joke is still relatable.
Aaron’s friend who liked cow tipping was likely only calf tipping. A full grown cow will weigh around 1200-1600 lbs depending on breed. I have been a dairy farmer my whole life and have never seen someone tip a full grown cow without the aid of machinery. Figured I’d give some context that the guy was going out to a farm and pushing over calves
Love the chemistry of the four of these guys together! It’s a great week when Nate, Smilin’ Aaron, Darling Dusty and Beaker Bates are all around the table.
I've said this before, but I'll take another shot at it anyway. I think Paula Poundstone is one of the best at crowd work I've ever heard. She always comes with bits prepared, but she'll ask questions and she can go on hilarious tangents even to the point of doing tangent call acks into later bits. I think she's brilliant at it.
I used to live in rural Tennessee and we had hay farms all around us. We had a dry spell a couple years and they had to fertilize all the fields to be sure there was enough hay to cut the in the fall. One of those years they used human feces and our whole area smelled like a port-a-potty for about 3 weeks.
Looking at Nate’s hat, “hey bear,” for two hours makes me wonder how many hats do you guys have in your collection? Do you keep them all? How do you store them at your home? Having a good time!
Hey Bear! Love the hat. On the subject of living longer, there are places around the world called, "Blue Zones." They have the most amount of people over 100 for various healthy reasons.
I like this podcast more than other podcasts because it DOESN’T follow the trend of podcasts getting shorter and shorter ❤ 2 hours is the perfect amount of time to spend in nateland every week
Could not agree more with Baxter. We saw Nate in Cincinnati and I thought it was his best show yet. I think that was the 5th or 6th time I’ve seen him. So good.
I have a buddy who competes in body building competitions (spray tans and all). Weeks leading up to the competition he has a strict diet in his "cut phase." But almost immediately after the competition, and for a few weeks after, he goes around to restaurants and takes on their eating challenges like the old 96er. He's done sushi, grilled cheese and sub sandwiches, burgers and fries, and cake. But the most impressive was the night after a competition he did the 8LB Kitchen Sink Challenge at the San Francisco Creamery. In under 30 minutes he at 8 pounds of ice cream, complete with whipped cream and cherries. He said the hardest part was how cold he got internally. I know you guys have talked about this before, but after seeing Aaron and Dusty take on the Nashville Hot Chicken gauntlet, would love to see you guys do more stuff like that. Would Nate ever go on Hot Ones?
It’s probably shocking to you guys but Florida is one of the largest cattle states in the US. We have some weird slaughter laws so we are cow-calf producers and most cows that are born in Florida are slaughtered in the Midwest. Trust me, we have a lot of cows here.
I used to work for a company in central Washington State that would export hay to Korea, Japan, and China. This was not what I was trained in... Drivers delivering hay to our site would get irritated when I asked what kind of hay they had (we mostly received Timothy and Alfalfa hay) because apparently I should be able to tell by looking at it....I couldn't - I had to label it by type, which cutting it was (1st, 2nd, or 3rd of the season), and which farm it came from. We would send in samples to get tested so customers could identify what levels of different nutrients they had for their cows. People got really serious about their hay. It's a pretty cut throat industry. So Aaron, I have more answers to your hay questions than I ever wanted to have😂
Hi Nate and company: New listener. I loved how Nate was talking about how much he loves standup comedy. I would love to see you all standing up for a whole hour and see if that Adds to the quality of the show.
I’m a 5th generation farmer so I was curious about what y’all would talk about. There wasn’t very much good information on agriculture, but it was so funny to watch Aaron struggle to understand what a hay bale was.
Aaron saying “it’s like a hat on a hat” when Nate was describing Las Vegas hosting the Super Bowl was the oddest but most perfect description. Sometimes Aaron understands Nate better than Nate.
Alright alright I propose a Shawshank Redemption challenge. We all watch Shawshank on the same day. Alllllll the folks + all 4 of you guys. Pick a day maybe next month. A weekend date. We all prepare for it. Get our popcorn hoodie ready and our snickers and milky way and everyone watches it together!
Regarding naming farm animals, I spent a year or so as a kid living on a small farm owned by my aunt and uncle. They had 2 steers - a red one and a black one. My cousin called them Axl and Slash, which we all thought was perfect. My aunt over-ruled and said "No, they're called Red and Black." She wasn't the most colourful person so we put it down to her simply being the fun-police. As we got older we realised why - they were dinner, not pets. Turns out my mum, aunt and their 4 other siblings named a steer "Curly" when they were kids, and when our grandfather had him slaughtered none of them could bring themselves to eat him. They sat there looking at their plates almost crying while my grandfather had steam coming out of his ears cos they were wasting food.
I love how focused Bow-wow is on the transitions into the ad reads but I do want you to know I appreciate your jokes and feel that we miss out on a few zingers because of the ad thing.
BIG time Nateland fan, Nate I saw you in Greenville, South Carolina and you rocked. One question for everyone, am I the only one that notices Brian’s reactions to Nate picking on him during the podcast? Looks like he’s the younger brother getting made fun of but can’t do anything. Love the podcast. Peace.
I agree with Dusty about the healthier options being lower quality. I noticed that when a big name (with a far reach in the market) in cleaning products made a "natural" alternative cleaner, it was terrible. But smaller, lesser known brands (with a much shorter reach) can do cleaning products that are good. That experience made me wonder if that was on purpose to steer people to the toxic products.
My son Max threw a bath bomb in our fish tank early this morning! Caused mass chaos and mass casualties! Thank goodness for Nateland getting me through the day so far! Can't wait to see Dusty this weekend in Tulsa! I think I will always remember my weekend to see Dusty starting off with bath bombs and fish!
I totally agree with Brian, saw Nate in Vancouver 3 weeks ago and it was the best hour yet and the bar was already really high! Loved the George Washington skit before the show and the 4 openers were amazing! I wish he would turn it into a special so I could watch it over and over again!
I was mid push-up when the cows farting claim was corrected to cows belching. I collapsed and smashed my face on the ground. It's confirmed ... Nateland and anything healthy don't mix
As a self proclaimed doughnut connoisseur, I’m disappointed none of you knew what an old fashion doughnut was! I even told my husband this was the first time I’ve been so worked up I felt the need to leave a comment! An old fashion doughnut is a circular cake doughnut with the cracked edges and is a staple in most shops. Also, loved the sidecar shoutout! It’s the best doughnut in LA! Looking forward to seeing Nate and Aaron as part of the Netflix is a Joke festival!
Big Orioles fan. I spend a lot of time at Camden Yards and can't wait for the season to start. Big Nateland fan. I spend a lot of time"here" too. With all the baseball talk on the podcast, I'm excited to hear my team mentioned. It's like my happy places collided.
Dusty on Girl Scout cookies: "It is poison, but your body can handle a little bit of it once in a while, as long as your not eating the cookies everyday" **glances over at Aaron**
I worked on a mint farm in the summers my first years of teaching. The planting system was similar to what Brian described. I farming as a change of pace from teaching because your work was done at the end of the day and although it was physically exhausting, it wasn't usually emotionally exhausting. I'll go proofread this now.
My fam was farmers, including tobacco farmers in NC. I spent summers with them. It was rough stuff for years. You got up before sunrise, met up with other farmers for breakfast and back to farm for hard work! In latter years they had combines as nice as Cadillac with AC, stereo, etc. Either way the hot houses and tobacco process is never fun. I think most in an area farming tobacco take it to auction at big warehouses where big companies buy it. We did. Crazy stuff. I was from GA and we were NOT farmers. I love country and farming though!! Hard work but a good life. I've been blessed to be involved with FFA as an adult and LOVE it!!
Aaron was talking about pufferies in advertisements, my favorite is always the commercials that brag about having "more flavor" than the other brand. Could be a bad flavor, but we've definitely got more of it.
Hodgkin's Lymphoma is likely what Dusty was thinking. This is what is happening in all of our minds when we know a little bit about a lot of things. This is why I love listening because good candor is good comedy! I appreciate the friendly comradery of the BAND
Truth be told, an Old Fashion donut is the best donut. My wife and I are seeing Dusty in Tulsa this Friday night as a late Valentine's Day celebration. I'd bring him an Old Fashion donut but I don't know if I'll have the opportunity to give it to him.
I've worked on some farms, and I was excited for an episode on the topic, but quickly reset my expectations when I checked the timeline and saw farming clocked at about 7 minutes. All worked out though, I don't know why I love hearing the behind the scenes of stand-up, but it is somehow like farming for sure.
Aaron smiling during all of Dusty’s add reads is the reason I’ll never skip through the adds. It reminds me of two high schoolers waiting for the other to mess up reading out loud in class
This is a perfect description
Oh, “The Dusty Hour” that would end each Nateland podcast would be awesome!!! Go for it, please.
This is EXACTLY why the two hours is necessary. So many stories got the chance to develop. Thanks BAND
1:15:46 I love how happy Brian is for Nate. He’s a good friend for sure
He loves him, that’s his baby ❤
I feel like we got a real time glimpse into “ENOUGH!” Aaron 😂

Anytime someone says something I don’t agree with now I find myself doing the Dusty shoulder shrug while saying “well” in my head.
And the hand wave… 🙋🏼♀️

The Dusty Hour: Nate at Night
Nate’s advice for being a father: 1 sentence. Nate’s advice for stand up comedy: a full speech. 😂
Lollll!!!
“How many pounds is a kilobyte?” 😂
I think we got another visit from High T Bates and I love it!😆

Banjo Bates absolutely CRUSHING the transitions on this one! (I still prefer Breakfast but had to take my shot)

I need that shirt! Hilarious!
Glad you agreed to go back to 2 hour shows. Gives my ho- hum life a bit of excitement, at least 2 hours worth.

Dusty already has his next special name now: "Little Bit of a Creep"
We're havin a good time, folks!

Dusty is back in full force! AI chicken! Artificial Ingredients!
1:49:43 Barnyards response to Aaron nailing the “farm system” question was amazing, lol.

"Cattle were first introduced to North America in Florida in 1521 by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon. The largest single brood cow herd in the US is located in Florida." - Florida Department of Agriculture. Nate: "Florida is the last place you would find cows."
Can't wait for the show in Orlando this weekend!
This episode really started off with a bang!!!!! Nate & Dusty's minds are definitely unique.
But honestly, when Brian says ‘BOOM’ after an ad or statement… it’s low key everything I never knew I needed. 😆
The folks should do a poll!!
Fool me 187 about staying on topic 😂😂😂😂😂 honestly yall could talk about whatever and I would listen.
Nate’s acting chops were on point on SNL. Give him a movie any day and he’ll knock it out of the park - the next Sandler. Nate’s awesome!!!
Love the pod . comment roundup section should be longer. I love hearing Nate struggle to read.
3rd hour: Dusty's Conspiracy Convos
I'm in!
And mulch/leaf garden care info
Hey bear
Love love love this podcast! You all are a great way to start my day
Thank you! Don't stop
I just love this podcast! It's about "Nothing on Everything"!!
“Show me that you love me and stop talking” 😂😂😂😂😂
Hey Bear! Love the hat. On the subject of living longer, there are places around the world called, "Blue Zones." They have the most amount of people over 100 for various healthy reasons.
I wasn't a fan of crowd work until I saw Ian Bagg in Florida last year. He made it flow almost as if it was a pre-written set. Hilarious.
Aaron had me dying laughing this episode 😂
“That was for a lot of people”, “What is hay?”
I like this podcast more than other podcasts because it DOESN’T follow the trend of podcasts getting shorter and shorter ❤ 2 hours is the perfect amount of time to spend in nateland every week
my grandparents had a farm and their rooster woke me up every morning.
Love the analogy of farming with your comedy 🤗
It’s probably shocking to you guys but Florida is one of the largest cattle states in the US. We have some weird slaughter laws so we are cow-calf producers and most cows that are born in Florida are slaughtered in the Midwest. Trust me, we have a lot of cows here.
Don’t tell Arron they’re outlawing the round bales of hay. The USDA determined the cows couldn’t get a square meal
I LOVE the ONE. SO GLAD to hear someone else say it
I used to work for a company in central Washington State that would export hay to Korea, Japan, and China.
I would love to see you all standing up for a whole hour and see if that
Adds to the quality of the show.
Dusty’s take on the potential for us to live longer reminded me of a documentary I saw on “Blue Zones”. Curious if you guys have ever heard of this?
I love how focused Bow-wow is on the transitions into the ad reads but I do want you to know I appreciate your jokes and feel that we miss out on a few zingers because of the ad thing.
BIG time Nateland fan, Nate I saw you in Greenville, South Carolina and you rocked. One question for everyone, am I the only one that notices Brian’s reactions to Nate picking on him during the podcast? Looks like he’s the younger brother getting made fun of but can’t do anything. Love the podcast. Peace.
I am a true fan of Nate’s comedy. I have seen him live, as well as, on SNL and still could not tell you how the donkey joke goes. True fan!
I just wanna say “congrats” to any kind of cardio activity for anyone. You can just see by the beautiful green sweatshirt!! Looks amazing!🎉🎉
Beautiful hearing Nate talk about loving standup so much. We love it too! 👏🏼❤️
Dusty on Girl Scout cookies:
"It is poison, but your body can handle a little bit of it once in a while, as long as your not eating the cookies everyday"
**glances over at Aaron**
Next episode we need Nate to do a table read of the Dr. Seuss book Fox in Socks
How can you not laugh during an ad reading lol ................
Yeah guys, keep your shirts ON! Thank you
I loooove the idea of Dusty being on Blocks. My man has more blocks than the Eiffel Tower Lego Set. It's 10001, Aaron.
Strongly resisting the entrepreneurial urge to build Dustys business idea. “That could be the future…”😂
