Hello folks! Long time listener, first time commenter. I’m a solo parent of three amazing kids, and I’ve been working my way through the pod for almost 2 years now and am only 16 away from being caught up! Y’all bring me so much joy. Thank you Bubba Gump for all your hard work and getting me through some tough times. We all know Blueberry is the oil in this fry pot---this pod, Nateland, and even Nate wouldn’t be what it is without ole reliable Belt Buckle! Everyone knows Nate is the best, so no need to elaborate. Webbs= the kindest, most relatable and self-aware podcaster out there-what an anchor and gem! Dusty has really been here all along-just listen back on the Bigfoot episode when Nate is very clear that he’s more interested in talking with people with absurd, entertaining beliefs than anything run-of-the-mill.
This comment is too long to ever be read, but my kiddoes would think I’m literally famous if it ever was!
Anyway--The only way I’m even making it through “Bathrooms” is the excitement of seeing there are 2 episodes on Mythical creatures-I can’t wait to hear Dusty educate everyone on the biblical account of some pretty cool creatures.
Finally, Lord help me if y’all haven’t strong armed me into watching Shawshank---PSA 0% Nateland approved 😅🫣

The problem with Aaron versus Nate is that Aaron claims to be this intelligent person which he clearly isn’t and Nate claims that he is dumb but in reality it might be the other way around

Wow, first few minutes in and Dusty is discussing my favorite author/poet Charles Bukowski consider my mind blown, then the fun discussion on Jimmy Fallon. I was at the New Jersey show with my best friend who a few months back had to cancel on the Tonight Show tickets I had, and then to our surprise he showed up at Nate's show and was hilarious, I made a silly joke that I made sure she was going to see Fallon with me no matter what. Fantastic episode folks, keep it up!

I think the duality of man is best embodied by Dusty in this episode. He previously said people should wake to the sunlight to preserve circadian rhythm. In this episode, he says he is fine with people in Knoxville having a 9 o'clock sunrise in a permanent daylight savings time, adding if they don't like it they can just move.

    • @DustySlay
      @DustySlay 10 місяців тому +5

Dearest, Nate, Dusty, Aaron, and Barnabas (I think this is the best nickname for Brian because he is such a great encourager to the group).
Y’all have created the greatest podcast in the history of podcast creation. I feel like I get to hang out with yall everyday. I am a truck driver/pastor of a Cowboy Church, so I listen to your pod everyday. I am going back through all of the old episodes again.
Nate, though I do not agree completely with your culinary philosophy of the whole table being in unison on the meal of choice in a restaurant, I do feel that there is a line that should not be crossed when sharing a meal with others. My oldest brother, let’s call him Chandler, often crosses that line, especially at breakfast. Years ago my brother-in-law, my two older brothers, and me would play golf every Saturday morning, usually with a 7:00 tee time. On the way we would stop by Chick-fil-a to get a chicken biscuit for breakfast, and way too often, our oldest brother would order only a cup of coleslaw. Blehhhh! It still turns my stomach to this day, just thinking about him eating coleslaw at 6:30 am while we are trying to enjoy a chicken biscuit the way God intended breakfast to be eaten.
P.S. I hope that buttering up Bathroom Break Bates will increase the chances of my comment getting read by the wordsmith himself, the Nate the Great.
Thanks, keep up the great work FOLKS!!!!

    • @zaram131

The reason water doesn’t go above clouds is because as the temperature gets lower the higher you go in the atmosphere, the vapor condenses and turns back to water. It can’t keep rising after that. And I didn’t even go to college.

I always look forward to Wednesday mornings and watching y’all on UA-cam. Love you guys! Since Aaron mentioned y’all should do a show on poetry and I 💭 thought , “well that’s not going to happen”🫣😆; I wanted to say to Aaron who mentioned poems should rhyme that not all poetry has to rhyme. I was almost 40 when I found this out from my fifth grade daughter. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ She informed me of the following. Narrative poetry tells a story. Dramatic poetry is used in plays with dramatic action. Lyric poetry expresses a person's state of mind or attitude. Then inside of that is blank verse and free verse poetry. Blank verse is poetry written with a precise meter-almost always iambic pentameter-but that does not rhyme. Free verse poetry is poetry that lacks a consistent rhyme scheme, metrical pattern, or musical form. I personally think that’s about all we need to know regarding poetry. Now let’s get on to the more important things you guys bring to the table. All in fun. Thanks for sharing your time with us. ✌🏼

I do think they could pull off a show about poetry. I mean writing for stand-up comedy is definitely a form of poetry. They could research famous poets and realize how many famous quotes come from poetry. Discuss Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein... Do some Mad Libs... Hmm, I guess what I'm saying is treat like first grade, maybe. LOL

The average person only has *three* stories?? I know I have a skewed population to pull from (recovering drunks), but not just from drinking (in no particular order):
    Dad gets kidney transplant.
    Getting mugged.
    Meeting the Avett Brothers.
    My Dad's funeral.
Crazy roommate that I thought was wanted by the FBI.
Getting a text from a guy who was responding to a spoofed number, going back and forth awhile, and finding out I knew his ex-brother in law.
    Tripping balls at Wrigley Field.
Going downtown (Chicago) to help people get home from the riots the summer of 2020.
And I've barely gotten started. I know that you said "average," but I'm a regular person, and I have sooo many stories. I'm pushing back on your story-having estimate.
Also, the actual word is *A*light, not "light." Insects and birds alight on people.

I for one am a big fan of the guy selling Aaron plants. His goal was clearly to make an impression and trap Aaron in an awkward situation. The fact that Aaron (and the rest of the fellas) are still puzzled by it, further illustrates his triumph. Hopefully the plants endure as long as his memory!
    I'll go proofread this now.

Aaron's story about the cashier reminded me of a time I went shopping at a grocery store that was about to go out of business. I asked the cashier what he was going to do without this job and he said that he was going to start a cross country race for charity. I said wow thats awesome to which he laughed and said he was just joking. It was a very awkward encounter.

Would love to hear the BAND's thoughts on self-checkout lines. I am all for them as an available alternative to the regular checkout line, but lately it seems so many places are ONLY utilizing their self-checkout lines. The employees are just standing around up there offering to help us if we need guidance on how to use self-checkout, aka, do their jobs for them. I probably just sound like an old crab, but it drives me crazy seeing sometimes a dozen or more checkout lines simply abandoned, while we are all forced to stand in a long line to check ourselves out now. Let's get this back to an option, not the only option.

Here’s the statistic we need- percentages- how many people survive plane crashes ? And how many people survive auto crashes?
They may say it’s safer, but It’s the plummeting six miles down directly into the earth that makes me think we’re talking about different problems here. 😂

Genuine question for Nate. You mentioned that it ruins the food if you are eating breakfast and smell wings going by, but have you never been to a diner? That's literally the whole point of those places.
Thanks guys for the laughs, I love listening to the podcast and wish you all the best

My best friend attended Hanover College, Woody Harrelson's alma mater. She loves to tell the story of when Woody showed up at a frat party and hung out for the night. Her favorite part of the story is that they played the drinking game "questions" and she's the one that made him laugh with her question about a "woody." Anyway, I wonder if Jimmy Fallon could have stayed at the party longer if it weren't for smart phones and social media.

In college I went with a friend to a Slam Poetry night so he could get extra credit. When we walked in, they were asking everyone if they had done Slam Poetry before and I mentioned I had to for a class back in High School. Turns out, they were asking because they needed their third judge for the night and apparently I was the only other person there who ever been to a Slam... So yes, I ended up having to be a judge that night with practically no knowledge but I think I was paid with one free beer.

1:08:00 hello folks! Every Christmas my dad wears festive sequin ties that my brothers wore when they were 5. Tucked into a vest, no one knows they're only six inches long and on an elastic band. Any thoughts on adding a vest to dress things up?
