I use the Hyundai mowers, 21" models I have 2 we run in our fleet for grounds maintenance, blades aren't the best but I swapped them over to Oregon Gator Mulching Blades, had to be grinded to fit but they run flawlessly, very very good mower.
Sounds great. Where do I get those blades from ? Would love to give them a try 👍
As a result of your video, I just ordered a 21 inch 196cc self propelled Hyundai cause that 19inch 144cc Hyundai did such a great job. In Australia is approx $740 delivered, which is aprox 385 British pounds or 500 USA $. So for that $, there is nothing that price, most of everything else in self drive is 25 to 35 percent more $.
Going to give Hyundai a go this time round. Rover had a mower, same specs, but is approx 15 percent dearer but spare parts are a issue according to most forums. I hope Hyundai spare parts are avail in a speedy manner and priced reasonable... Time will tell !!!
They seem to be good machines but only time will tell.
We've been using that machine, on that site for over a year now without any problems at all 👍
Love this! I was debating what brand is decent these days bc the traditional ones seem to have lost quality and the prices are still up. I guess it’s time to give these guys a chance
We are still using the mower now and it's going great.
I can't really comment on the warranty or customer service, because I've never had to use them 👍
Thank you very informative
My pleasure, glad it helped 👍
Got mine a year ago now no problems great mower used daily my thinking was a 21 inch rear roller hayter or honda is 1500 quid
They are good mowers. Ours is still going strong and gives us some fantastic stripes 👍
After purchasing a Homebase petrol lawnmower and encountering gearbox issues 2 months after purchase and 5 cuts. I decided to pay the premium for a Hyundai mower and got to say have no regrets! Brilliant mower that is sturdy and very well built. Decided on Hyundai as father in law has had one for 5 years yet received little to none in terms of maintenance and still goes strong starting first time everytime even with e10 fuel. Obviously I intend to look after it and use Aspen at the price.
Yes, ours has done well. We use it commercially on a couple of sites.
The only complaint I have is that the drive is almost too strong !!!
However, even at speed it cuts the grass and picks up well 👍
Superb work mate 👏
Thank you very much 👍
Good review Jimmy lad...
Cheers Mick
Enter this one into 'Patch of the day' 😉😁🤣
I will do in a couple of weeks
Oh I do like this machine mate👌,doesn’t it do a fantastic job ,I’m very impressed 👍
Another fantastic review as always mate look forward to some more demo’s soon.👍
Thanks for your kind words John.
Hopefully there will be plenty more videos now we are coming to the back end of the cutting season 👍
Awesome video my brother thanks
My absolute pleasure, I'm glad it helped 👍
Great review mate, looks like a good mower.
Thanks, it far exceeded my expectations 👍
@@JimmyTheMower
Not bad considering it has the same engine as my mate's Getz.
😆
Incredibly informative video.
Just a quick question.. when the grass bag gets full, to empty it, then attach back on the lawnmower, does the lawnmower have to restart each time, or can the machine stay on while emptying the grass bag?
You have to restart it every time.
There isn't a separate blade switch.
Nice mower. Your house is massive
If only that was my house 😪
It's some offices that we currently look after 👍
@@JimmyTheMower I wouldn’t like to see your heating bills if it was yours! Keep up the good vids
@@np1663 🤣🤣🤣👍
Many thanks as this aspect is not covered in the manual
Thanks for watching 👍
Good work Jimmy
Thank you 👍
EGO is the way to go! ✌🏻👍🏻
I know where you are coming from but we just can't make the change to battery at the moment with the mowers.
We have to cut too much grass in a day and then someone has to take all those batteries home, charge them and bring them to work the next day.
Well impressed. great review.. good replacement for my Honda Isy may be…
Well it has certainly got plenty of power and puts down some great stripes 👍
Question, 10 months on from this video, is it still as good? Looking to buy one :) thanks in advance and great review :)
Still cutting grass on a weekly basis. The only downside I have found is that it is just one speed and that is fairly brisk. Saying that, I'm not particularly quick on my feet though 🤣🤣
Purched one about 12 months ago, heap. Of shyt to much plastic that keeps braking and a drive belt that jumps off and to replace you have to drain the petrol and the oil from the engine, and you have to charge the battery as the mower doesn’t
You must have had a dodgy one.
Ours is still in use on a weekly basis, cutting that lawn in the video and more.
The only fault I have is that it is too speedy and could do with being a little slower.
Mine lasted one hour before the drive failed, I am sending it back . Not a good start
Not a great start at all......
Would you recommend for home garden not contracting, looking at the 21 inch version. Thanks
All I can really say is look at the written reviews.
We've used this mower on a weekly basis without any problems, just general servicing.
The only complaint I have is that sometimes when the grass is very long and wet, the drive can be too strong and the mower moves too quickly to do a great job.
However, once the grass is below 6 inches it is fine 👍
Hi Jimmy, thanks for the videos. Very helpful. May I ask, does this model, on their website as HYM480SPER (an extra E), come with an electric start button as advertised on their website. I ask as you didn't press it as you have done when demonstrating other hyundai models which have it. Many thanks.
Actually I'm not 100% sure about that.
Although most models do have the option of an electric start.
I'm sure if you give Hyundai customer services a ring then they will be able to tell you.
Best of luck,
Jimmy
Hi Jimmy, no, their customer support is just awful but I have, since leaving the comment, checked again on the website and the reason for the extra E is because you can buy either a version with or without an electric start. Your version wouldn’t have it, hence why you didn’t use it 😂. Many thanks again.
@miller150474 yeah, we tend not to have electric starts because of the bother of charging the battery all the time.
Ah, that’s an interesting point to consider. I was purely look at ease of use but is the charging thing an issue? I suppose if you’re doing it commercially it becomes a hassle, perhaps not so much for home use 🤷🏼
Hi, I am thinking of buying this Hyundai HYM480SPR for my lawn. It's about 600m². The only thing that holds me back is, I saw some videos where the machine & collection bag gets easily clogged. The grass kept sitting in the 'mouth' where it should exit into the bag. Has anyone who owns this model encountered the same problems?
That comes from cutting down long grass.
If you are mowing once a week and it's fairly dry then you shouldn't have any problems.
The only thing to be aware of is the pace of the drive is quite fast, if you are a brisk walker then that's fine.
@@JimmyTheMower Thank you for the response. Great video by the way, keep it up!
@HerrKaleun96 thanks for your kind comments and good luck with whichever mower you purchase 👍
Are these reliable like Honda
Who knows ?
They offer a 3 year warranty and we've used this one a couple of times a week for half a year without any problems.....
@JimmyTheMower thanks mate 👍
Is it good for commercial use what you reckon mate? Thank you
I can't really say.
We only use it one this site once a week, so it's the equivalent of a large residential garden.
With a lot of these mowers, it's not the actual use that does them in, but the constant rattling around in vans and trailers.
Mower looks decent. Do you need to add 2 stroke oil to the petrol? Thanks.
No, it's a 4 stroke engine. The four stoke oil is in a separate filler cap to the straight unleaded petrol 👍
@@JimmyTheMower Thanks!
They are trying to kill the petrol mower in the states. I repair old ones and send them back out. Wonderful hobby and a middle finger to those environmental nuts. Nice to see a new mower for a change.
Mate, it's started over here. They will stop selling new petrol machine in the next few years.....
Try and keep everything going that you can 👍
I actually made my first videos today. They are terrible. About repowering junk that came with a nice attachment. Be an honor if you watched them first.@@JimmyTheMower
How does the deck washer arrangement work?
Get your hosepipe and clip the end onto the deck.
Turn the water on and then start the mower.
The blade spins around washes the cut grass off the underside of the deck 👍
Hi what dò think of the big hyunda strimmer anti vibration one regards
Hi Glyn, I'm sorry but I haven't yet had a go with the hyundai strimmer.
I will make sure I get one over the next couple of months and put it to the test.
The Hyundai brushcutter is an excellent strimmer I've used it for 2 years with commercial gardening. I've had to replace the carb, pull cord, clutch and fuel tank (due to me dropping it). I've used the strimmer on the worst jobs and it's destroyed them like they was nothing. With it being on the heavy side get a Stihl harness for it. Makes it perfectly balanced then.
The multitool on the other hand is handy but not a commercial grade tool to use.
I have this same mower but the electric start version which I do commercial work for. It's the best striping mower I have but useless in the wet.
@MrLittleHorus thanks for the detailed info. That will help a lot of people out 👍
Thanks for the review. Would you have this model over the hyundai zeroturn pushmower that doesnt have a striper roller on it?
It depends ?
If you want stripes then you need a rear roller.
If you just want to cut the grass then you can go for a lighter lawnmower with 4 wheels instead.
@@JimmyTheMower I've noticed a video review of these on UA-cam where it was clogging grass around the blade, have you found that to be the case with more use of it or it always pushed into the catcher nicely?
@jakehowe8676 all mowers will clog around the blade. You need to adjust the cutting height and speed at which you are cutting to match the conditions.
The longer the grass, the higher the cut
The wetter the grass, the slower the cut.
is this a comercial site because i thought you only do comercial work
Yes it's a commercial site, those are offices in the background.
@@JimmyTheMower oh right cool
It's crap and has issues from the outset 😂 ... Don't buy one 😂
You must have had a bad one.
Ours is still running, no problems 😊
Well, could you tell us why, in your opinion, it’s crap. Is it faulty, poor build quality etc?
@@SteveChild-y9w I have a similar hyundai 173cc - 5y old. My spouse call it "Frankenstein" since so many pieces have been replaced - wheel bearings (shielded but not sealed ones, so full of sand), handle (extra flimsy) - welded/inserted rods. Springs on the bag chute cover. Fuel lines cracked. Fuel cap - sealed. Spark plug was the 1st to be changed. Deck paint peeled off 1st year - wire brush/rust inhibitor/paint (+rubber cover). Blade bolt was the meanest of them all - 10.9 mark (metric steel grade) but it was not 17mm -- 11/16" - imperial, everything else is metric, that was proper annoying, also sheered clean off on the 4th year {I do use a torque wrench). Those were top of my head. Last bit of advice - use 5W-30 synthetic oil. With that being said - still starts on the 1st pull.
