If you don't have to get up, keep your seat belt on.
Yes true..
True.. just buckle up at all times... the belt are there for a reason.

Another Boeing product again. Why the seatbelt signs work automatically when there was a change in air compression in the sky?
@@MSDGroup-ez6zk You can't expect it to do something it has no capability of doing. The signs are turned on automatically in only few specific situations, or by the crew. Plus, how would such a sensor be able to detect something it hasn't come across yet?
This is why its so important to fasten your seat belt whenever you’re seated regardless of the seat belt signs on or off.
I hate flying and always keep mine on. To me it’s like taking off a car seatbelt when the roads are quiet. Bonkers
It's so funny to read all these paid comments about seat belts when the problem is Boeing's unsafe aircraft.

Sad to hear. The Bay of Bengal is definitely known for its turbulent weather patterns that can change quickly. I flew into a similar air pocket there once - the pilots can't warn passengers beforehand because the air looks clear, but the plane can suddenly drop a few feet when it hits this region with less air density. It is a scary experience! Glad to hear the flight landed safely.

Stop suggesting and start DEMANDING that people keep their seatbelts fastened when they are in their seats!
very very hard to enforce seatbelt for the entire plane and duration of the flight
Of course you need to keep your seatbelts when you're at your seat. I'm a regular flyer and i'd still keep my seatbelts all the time when seated. Just loosen abit so you wont feel the tension of the seatbelts

Why SQ choose to fly thru the area when other aircrafts were avoiding it?
Normally turbulence is associated with moisture raising and sinking in a weather system. Clear air turbulence is just raising and sinking air with no moisture. An airplane’s modern weather radar can detect water droplets using Doppler radar to detect weather turbulence, but not clear air turbulence.
Thanks for the aviation engineering lesson.

They never did say whether the passenger that suffered the heart attack and perish whether he was buckled in or not. As an aside, you can ask every passenger whether they think the pilots should stay buckled in. I can almost bet 100% of them would say yes. And then, the pilot has the discretion to turn off the seat belt sign. Go ahead and unhook. Don't worry, we're still buckled in. If you become a flying projectile, well, you should have disregarded the seat belt sign and stayed buckled in.
seatbelt is one thing. i've been through such a scary drop. and im grateful that im still in one piece, and so should they.
Scared is an understatement in that situation.
It is a surprised that such weather conditions cannot be detected by modern equipment, meaning to say it will happen again and again.
In area of turbulence, an airplane flying at about 800km/hr will experience significant air density changes.
Higher air density, plane lift increases and altitude gains. Lower air density, plane lift decreases and dives. Plane will automatically attempt to maintain its speed and altitude.rapidly during turbulence, so a lot of up and down.

Terbulence can't avoided. Seat belts on all the time.
As soon as there is a sign of air turbulence, passengers should put on the seat belt immediately without being told. I am sure the aircraft had put out the seat belt sign protocol without fail, and sadly, most of the passengers failed to obey. This is a common problem. Don't point fingers at the airlines. Who knows what the British passenger did? He might be walking around during the turbulence. Only other passengers can tell us the reasons.

In fact, it should be almost impossible, as airports and aircraft have windshear detection systems, and pilots know to slow aircraft below critical speeds if severe turbulence is predicted or experienced.
Can you explain more? I have fear of flying and i have flight this coming sept 😭
@annef6500 Air pocket formation is a sudden change in air pressure that can be caused by a number of factors, such as thunderstorms, volcanic activity, and sea level rise. Air pocket formation can lead to severe turbulence, which can force planes to climb or descend, and even crash. Sajan from Nasa headquarters in Washington DC
@annef6500 An air pocket, also known as clear-air turbulence (CAT), is an area of rapidly changing air pressure that can cause sudden and violent movements of an aircraft. They are often invisible to the naked eye and can occur at any altitude but are most common in the troposphere, the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere.

Another one added Boeing plane quality control issue, this getting out of hand, that company really need to be punish for selling defective plane
Hi, aviation journalist here.
Pilots are only aware of it unless an aircraft on the flight path before them (or in a similar vicinity) radio in to ATC about the turbulence they experienced, so there is no way of telling when turbulence will happen- unless it is with a storm.
In addition, turbulence can affect any type of aircraft, it is not just Boeing.
If it turns out that there was a mechanical failure that may have been present on board the aircraft, contributing to the worsening of the situation, it is most likely that it is the fault of SIA, as the aircraft is 16.3 years old, meaning that ever since it left the Boeing production facility, SIA was in control of its maintenance.
Airlines are also allowed to substitute equipment in from other companies they deem sensible, and may opt to not use the equipment given to them by the manufacturer.
So in conclusion- Boeing did not sell them a defective plane. Turbulence is random, it can affect any aircraft. This is not a quality control issue.
The aircraft was produced by Boeing 16.3 years ago, and after production its maintenance and care was SIA's responsibility. So if a maintenance error did occur, it would've most likely been SIA's fault.
What the hell does Boeing have to do with a CLEAR AIR TURBULENCE? 🤦🏻♂️ Not even the mightiest and greatest of aircraft can escape that shit dude..
There are ongoing case of Boeing Quality Control ,where they cut cost and sell defective plane, the defect can cause situation even pilot cannot control. And this not the first case, and probably not the last...
@@amirulxdlol Quit being stupid.
This plane was 16.3 years old- Boeing last saw it 16.3 years ago. From the point of purchase, SIA looked after maintenance.
This had nothing to do with Boeing.
Turbulence happens to any aircraft flying in the sky, regardless of manufacturer.
And of course a pilot cannot control turbulence, they can avoid it if they're informed about it ahead of time.
Boeing did not cut costs to sell this particular aircraft. This aircraft was made before the model with defects even took off for the first time.

@@DanielLimSantoso how do you know it is clear air turbulence before thorough investigation is finalised?
@@DanielLimSantosoCAT can be detected by indirect means, by the pilot. A competent American, European, or Australian pilot would've been able to avoid this. Pilots from the East cannot think outside the box or be innovative during emergencies or periods of high stress. A Qantas A380 got into serious difficulties some years back just after taking off from Singapore but the captain (DeCrespigny) and four other pilots in the cockpit took extraordinary steps to turn around and land it safely, despite loss of engines (plural). No Asian pilot would've been able to pull that off because their thinking is too rigid and has not fluidity. There is a reason why Asian drivers in the USA are so incredibly bad.

Any European or Australian or American pilot would have known how to avoid this turbulence ahead of time. Passengers see a certain "well respected airline with a good safety record" and they think they're safe flying on it. It is a fact that ALL airlines from that continent field incompetent pilots. Flying is a very sophisticated profession because the aircraft is one of the most sophisticated pieces of instruments, apart from the Space Shuttle and American boomers, on Earth. You need mastery of these crafts for there not to be accidents, and pilots from the eastern hemisphere (minus the Antipodes) just don't have what it takes.
