When hughie walked closer to him, HL looked at his heart. He was surprised because Hughies blood pressure was normal. Hughie wasnt scared of him

Its his humanity that makes him so scary. Unlike most sup characters that are one dimensional I've known someone like him.
We all have.
It's mostly mothers that go on undeserved powertrips.
What sets Homelander apart from the majority of sups is mainly his upbringing.
Most sups (Superman being the prime example for obvious reasons) that are represented in media have some sort of morality instilled into them or has something/someone that keeps them in line.
However, Homelander has essentially the complete opposite. Being raised in an uncaring laboratory and then allowed to do nearly whatever he wants with next to no negative consequences caused him to become the narcissist that we know and love

The thing about homelander being such a complex charecter is that you really never know what he's gonna do next. He's so interesting to watch every second
Complex maybe...but the thing that makes him positively terrifying is that HE doesn't know what he's going to do next.
He is not really complex. He is just great. He is literally a baby with a big ego and is the strongest. That's it.

Homelander is written so well, there’s no doubt about that, but the way Anthony Starr brings him to life is terrifying. Anything can be scary on paper, it’s different when it’s real on screen. From Banshee to The Boys, he’s deserving of many awards.

Let’s be honest this is the most realistic portrayal of a person with superpowers. If politicians have some power and turn psychos, imagine what superpowers would do to a man’s psyche.

What a formidable performance! Frightening, funny, disgusting...The actor relishes the role, and he does a phenomenal job at it. The best villain on TV, easily.
That last scene is arguably one of the most horrifying. Him discovering that he can be loved and feared at the same time? That the audience Stormfront helped him cultivate will bray for blood as he removes people he doesn’t like. That’s gonna be a problem
