      Hi!! Yup, I'm coming to Christchurch early November and I'm super excited!!
      I'm kinda winging my time in New Zealand as a newbie backpacker but I managed to find a very inexpensive hostel. And bc of your very informative videos I feel way more confident about my trip.
      Thanks again!!

    auckland's humidity is on the 80's right now and temp is on the 70's degrees farenheit, is it sweaty ? is t shirt good enough to wear? does is it feels like california weather during summer ? it's warm but we don't sweat a lot.

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  6 років тому

      This week is particularly hot and very unusual for New Zealand. It is hot and sweaty for sure but that does not happen often :)

    This is a great to do list video and thank you for that but you're assuming everybody here is heading to a hostel. As an over 40 traveler, not going to a hostel....probably renting a campervan for the duration of the trip

      @@NZPocketGuide I will, thanks!!! I'm traveling there and will be in NZ for a month next February so I'll certainly tune in and chat with you guys....btw have you any quick preliminary advice for renting a campervan for the duration of the trip? I can certainly chat with you on the livestream if that's a better option but thought I'd throw that question out there to start.

    Hi NZPG,
    How to declare shoes while entering NZ? should i declare the shoe i am wearing righ then.. also can I bring in cleaned used shoes/slippers? Should I declare newly bought shoes as well??

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi there!
      Yes, you should declare all shoes you're bringing into New Zealand, including the ones you're wearing, any cleaned used shoes/slippers, and even newly bought shoes. This is part of New Zealand's strict biosecurity measures to prevent the introduction of soil and contaminants that could harm the environment.
      When you fill out your Passenger Arrival Card, make sure to declare all footwear under the relevant section. You can then explain to the biosecurity officers that you have cleaned your used shoes and that you also have new ones. They will inspect them if necessary.

    I usually bring a small umbrella to travel around the world, but is it really windy in NZ so you don't recommend it? And how I bring raincoat which fit the winter jacket...sorry for dumb question cause haven't been to NZ....will come this end of August 2019 woohoo

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  5 років тому +1

      We don;t recommend the umbrella, get yourself a rain jacket and some layers underneath :)

    • @Mel-qr5ob
      @Mel-qr5ob 4 роки тому +1

      A bit too late for your Q but definitely bring a rain jacket.
      Just buy a big one which will fit your winter clothes underneath.
      NZ has driving rain, which means umbrellas get torn inside out and are not only useless, but usually get destroyed within a couple months.
      In NZ the weather can change very easily. We have a saying here "4 seasons in a day" because it's true, the strong winds push in new weather that wasnt in the morning's forecast.
      You really can't get by with only an umbrella.
      We always pack for the worst possible weather so when rain is expected you should be packing in case of a unexpected thunderstorm or hail.
      Even in summer when it's forecasted to be sunny I usually pack a raincoat just in case we get a sudden rain storm rolls through. It's happened before.

    What is baggage weight limit for 1 carry on and 2 luggage bags per person?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  6 років тому

      Hello :) Each airline has different policy, it should be written on the terms and conditions of your ticket. Usually the carry on is around 7kg and the check in luggage is 20-23kg. What does your ticket say?

    • @princessrasika8350
      @princessrasika8350 6 років тому +1

      BackpackerGuide.NZ Thank u so much for ur response. I haven’t booked a ticket yet. But will be booking on this months end. Are home made spices and food allowed in luggage?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  6 років тому

      Usually not... if you pack any, make sure to declare them, just to be safe!

    What the heck!? Why did it take 5 minutes before you started saying anything worth a heck!? IT was just constant "We talk about that in another video" BS. Trim the first 5 minutes and maybe a thumbs up...

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for the honest comment Daniel, your comment got a thumbs up from us ;) We felt that there was a risk of confusion between multiple of our videos so we did quite a fair bit of disambiguation at the beginning of the video I agree. We felt victim of being too thorough as per our usual ;) We'll do better as we create more content!
