You're very welcome, Kandor! Are you planning on hitting New Zealand soon?
yes I ll be there from November to January, so I just check all your videos and blog posts :)!
Nice one! We have quite a lot of videos so your binge-watching should be sorted out for a wee while haha! Feel free to ask questions on any videos if you have any, always happy to help out :)
Thank you so much!!! You both are lifesavers🤗!!!!!
Haha, no worries, Tafik! Is your trip to NZ coming up soon?
Hi!! Yup, I'm coming to Christchurch early November and I'm super excited!!
I'm kinda winging my time in New Zealand as a newbie backpacker but I managed to find a very inexpensive hostel. And bc of your very informative videos I feel way more confident about my trip.
Thanks again!!
Aw that's so awesome to hear! You'll have an awesome time, we're sure! Feel free to comment on any videos if you ever have some questions (or just a say hi) haha!
I definitely will say hi from time to time and comment on videos 😊!!
Ttys!!
Nice one! Can;t wait to hear more about your trip ;)
So much of this is applicable for many places and I am stealing it for Chile
Haha when are you off to Chile?
Not sure I want to make a public reply - but I have been there before - will be from Valdivia south through Coyaique to Cochran to Torres del Paine - lots of weather changes - I have referred students to you btw
Nice one Sharon! We're glad to hear that we help everyone ;)
Hi NZPG,
How to declare shoes while entering NZ? should i declare the shoe i am wearing righ then.. also can I bring in cleaned used shoes/slippers? Should I declare newly bought shoes as well??
auckland's humidity is on the 80's right now and temp is on the 70's degrees farenheit, is it sweaty ? is t shirt good enough to wear? does is it feels like california weather during summer ? it's warm but we don't sweat a lot.
This week is particularly hot and very unusual for New Zealand. It is hot and sweaty for sure but that does not happen often :)
I usually bring a small umbrella to travel around the world, but is it really windy in NZ so you don't recommend it? And how I bring raincoat which fit the winter jacket...sorry for dumb question cause haven't been to NZ....will come this end of August 2019 woohoo
We don;t recommend the umbrella, get yourself a rain jacket and some layers underneath :)
A bit too late for your Q but definitely bring a rain jacket.
Just buy a big one which will fit your winter clothes underneath.
NZ has driving rain, which means umbrellas get torn inside out and are not only useless, but usually get destroyed within a couple months.
In NZ the weather can change very easily. We have a saying here "4 seasons in a day" because it's true, the strong winds push in new weather that wasnt in the morning's forecast.
You really can't get by with only an umbrella.
We always pack for the worst possible weather so when rain is expected you should be packing in case of a unexpected thunderstorm or hail.
Even in summer when it's forecasted to be sunny I usually pack a raincoat just in case we get a sudden rain storm rolls through. It's happened before.
Thank you so much for this viedo! I will be in New-Zealand in July next year and since I will be 17 I won't be able to rent a car is this a big problem or bus are good on the South Island?
Thanks for the kind words
BackpackerGuide.NZ Nice now the only thing between me and New-Zealand is my parents thanks for the answer 😀
Good one!
What is baggage weight limit for 1 carry on and 2 luggage bags per person?
Hello :) Each airline has different policy, it should be written on the terms and conditions of your ticket. Usually the carry on is around 7kg and the check in luggage is 20-23kg. What does your ticket say?
BackpackerGuide.NZ Thank u so much for ur response. I haven’t booked a ticket yet. But will be booking on this months end. Are home made spices and food allowed in luggage?
Usually not... if you pack any, make sure to declare them, just to be safe!
BackpackerGuide.NZ okay dear. Thanks a lot for ur help. I intend to meet u soon there 🤗🤗😘
This is a great to do list video and thank you for that but you're assuming everybody here is heading to a hostel. As an over 40 traveler, not going to a hostel....probably renting a campervan for the duration of the trip
Thanks Chuck, this is great feedback too. join us during our live sessions on Sunday 8am NZ time so you can ask us your questions and we'll be able to help with your specific question :)
@@NZPocketGuide I will, thanks!!! I'm traveling there and will be in NZ for a month next February so I'll certainly tune in and chat with you guys....btw have you any quick preliminary advice for renting a campervan for the duration of the trip? I can certainly chat with you on the livestream if that's a better option but thought I'd throw that question out there to start.
@@cfpzona No worries, we've got a lot of tips and advice for you right here -> www.backpackerguide.nz/category/travel-tips/transportation/rental-campervan/ that should get you started smoothly :)
i couldn't stop laughing when you guys said Duh for need a flight ticket great video and keep up the good work looking forward to seeing you guys in Tauranga just a wee tip to pronounce the city just say Toe rung a
Thanks for the tip Matt :) I think that it is fair to say that we'll probably butcher Tauranga's name a few times before getting it right :)
yeah dont take it to heart when people try to correct its just them trying to help i think but anyway i hope you guys are having a wonderful time
No worries, any criticism is always taking constructively by us two ;) Hell yeah we're having a blast, how can we not it's New Zealand!!!
yeah you know it
Not sure if you consider it underwear, but i don't.... SOCKS!! I always bring an extra couple pairs anywhere i go. Usually 1 more than i should need. For example if im going on s 7 day trip id bring 8 pairs. It's not like they take up much room and i guarantee you'll be glad you brought the extra.
Hey that is a very goo tip! Thanks for pitching in!
Pack plenty of wet weather gear!!!!! It rains 75% of the time!!!!!!
Haha very true!
What the heck!? Why did it take 5 minutes before you started saying anything worth a heck!? IT was just constant "We talk about that in another video" BS. Trim the first 5 minutes and maybe a thumbs up...
Thanks for the honest comment Daniel, your comment got a thumbs up from us ;) We felt that there was a risk of confusion between multiple of our videos so we did quite a fair bit of disambiguation at the beginning of the video I agree. We felt victim of being too thorough as per our usual ;) We'll do better as we create more content!
definitely need subtitles for the dude. Not trying to offend anyone, it sounds like he's trying to speak with a mouth full of peanut butter
Hahaha! This is so funny! Yeah Robin has a thick accent, sorry about that. He is getting better in our latest videos :)
If you’re gonna make subtitles let me recommend votch.tv - i’ve been using it for a few months now and it’s been super helpful. Cheers!
