    For the slight bonus on your melee. I get that too on mine. The first generation of babies always seems to have their melee rounded up to the next number. Not sure why, but it’s not just you.

      I think I have an answer to this - when you tame creatures, their melee (and maybe one other stat?) is tied to taming effectiveness as well as the number of points in that stat. When you breed a baby, it assumes the same number of points but also a perfect taming effectiveness. At least, this is what this guide on Dododex says:

    For console controls (XBox) to drop an egg from your inventory, use the Left Trigger to drop. Right Trigger will use/eat! That’s why a running joke in Xbox Ark players is, “how do you react to accidentally eating your L150 Wyvern egg? You get Right Triggered!”

      @mandyrobbins1041 4 роки тому +1

      They're Dimetrodons, and actually, despite laying eggs, they're a mammal ancestor, not a dinosaur. In addition, if you don't have S+ and the electrical, or don't want to go that route...they are really a good tame, as they are basically portable Air Conditioners. You can safely get them as soon as you get an Argy, as Argies can carry them, so you can just set up your taming pen, get an Argy, grab a male and female Dimetrodon, so you can breed more if you need them, and weigh them down to where they can't move with stone. Then you stick eggs near them, and they're more affordable for resources: Normally, without electrical, you need a lot of gasoline, and if you can't get the oil that easily, if the ARK Gods are cruel, you have to deep Dive for oil nodes, or go to the dangerous cold regions for it. For Dimetrodons, just plop a feeding trough near them with meat.

    Babies get a bonus, usually to melee or food, so that they have stats like they would have tamed at 100%. Because even your perfect tame whatever will probably never tame at 100%; you usually lose at least a level. I hope that makes sense.

This means that an offspring can have higher values than its parents in stats that get a bonus from taming effectiveness (for most creatures this is Melee Damage and sometimes Food). • @ericbright1742
    @ericbright1742 5 років тому +2

    A tip I've found: If you get a baby that's got better stats than one of its parents, you can keep mating the 2 parents until the first one grows up, then you can swap out/add in the male/female (respectively) child to the original breeding stock.
    I did this when I was going for my Theri Breeding Stock. Whenever I got a male with all of the best of the father, and some of the best of the mother, I swapped him for the old father. Whenever I got a female with the best of the mother, and some of the best of the mother, I added her to the mix, adding another egg producer, to speed up the process.
    It worked out nicely, and I got viable breeding stock at level 250. They've got awesome stats. They're ready to start populating the Ryoden inspired "Studevator 1000" with hens.

    • @RoyaleWithCheese
      @RoyaleWithCheese  5 років тому +1

      Works but it might not necessarily make it any faster

    • @ericbright1742
      @ericbright1742 5 років тому +2

      The males, maybe not.
      The females, it gives you more rolls of the dice.
      Either way, reducing the number of coin flips (stats), and increasing the number of tries per cycle (more females) will give you a better chance of getting the perfect roll.
      It does increase the effort you have to put in to it, though, and inevitably it is random.

    Does the imprinting clock count in real time, or will it pause while I’m logged of? I imagine most people don’t have time to stand around for several hours to comfort a baby every 20 minutes. That’s like 6-7 hrs if it only rises ~15% each time!

    • @RoyaleWithCheese

      For the pair you're just gonna keep as breeders imprinting will just change the stats which makes it harder to try and figure out if your baby has a mutation and on what stat. Because the imprinting bonus doesn't transfer over from the parents to the babies

    So wait. Is it Post-Tame stats that carry over or is it wild stats?

    • @RoyaleWithCheese
      @RoyaleWithCheese  4 роки тому +1

      Post tame but not leveled just base stats after tame

      @@RoyaleWithCheese ok, cool! Thanks for the quick response! By some luck I found two Parasaurs that had very high health stats pre-tame, and am hoping to breed them to get a good breeder dino. I kinda goofed on the female when I tamed her and only got a 97% tame effectiveness, but hopefully it won't mess it up too bad.

    Why did you make the air conditioner to just take the egg outside?

    • @RoyaleWithCheese
      @RoyaleWithCheese  4 роки тому

      Air conditioning is area affect walls don’t matter so I’m still using them just outside

      RoyaleWithCheese, oh ok. And btw, I’m doing it rn, I found out you can throw the egg in water and it’ll still work. You know, because the water is cold.

    I dont understand why you need AC units when you just drop the eggs on the ground outside.
