Today we are reviewing the latest Seiko Prospex Chronograph, made to commemorate both 40 years since the first 1/100th of a second analog chronograph Seiko made and the World Athletics Championship in Budapest that is about to start, as Seiko is the official timekeeper.
I see it as a re-incarnation of the 2000's Kinetic Sportura Chronographs, like the one worn by Jay Leno, the SLQ007.
The watch comes in 4 variants, regular production Black dial SFJ003 - SBER003, this Panda Silver dial SFJ001 - SBER001, and two Limited editions, both limited to 4.000 pieces each, the 40th anniversary model SFJ005 - SBER005 and one made to commemorate the Athletics chamionship SFJ007 - SBER007
They all share the same movement, the newly developed solar crhonograph 8A50, that comes with 6 months of power reserve, five step motors with each hand having its own, and 3 subregisters for the stopwatch. Right one measures 1/100th of a second, the left one measures 1/10th of a second, and the top one measures seconds.
The main dial is used for telling time is also used as the minute counter for the 60 minutes that is the maximum measuring time. The cool thing is that the hour hand is hidden under the minute hand when chronograph is used so the watch becomes one multidial stopwatch, and only after you exit the chronograph mode does the hour hand go back to showing hours.
Sapphire crystal and 100m of water resistance make this a perfect everyday watch, while the bracelet looks like the one found on the Citizen Nighthawk in both look and feel.

If you want proper alignment and 1/100th sec then you have to expect to pay at least $15 for an F91. 😊

This post and thread is pointless. Most Seiko Chronographs, including this one, can easily be recalibrated/reset/zeroized without removing the case back in just a few minutes. Seiko JDMs frequently come misaligned too. Big deal. Just fix it. It's not a Grand Seiko or high end movement and the issue is simple to resolve and costs nothing. I've not seen this watch in-person, but I like the look. I like that it looks like a Seiko and not a mock Daytona.
Not this one, it can't be "recalibrated' as the calibration steps are too large
Opinions …I think the Leno watch is awesome ….i do have this speed timer ..alignment issues slightly but still love the watch
I bought mine at a Seiko boutique. All hands are perfectly aligned. I specifically looked out for this and wouldn’t have bought it otherwise.

I saw the misalignment issue in the unboxing video. Not a bad thing in perspective - justifies the issue/lack of it with much cheaper watches I have 👍
I stopped buying Seiko already several years ago for this reason.
Sorry for the misalignment on your seiko, its a bummer...
However, just like to say that misalignment is not on all seiko watches, I have that sfj001 model and all hands are perfectly aligned...

There's a setting to adjust the hands, same as when you change a quartz chrono battery and the hands aren't zeroed - not a manufacturing fault 🙄

To avoid the usual misalignment issues I buy JDM watches. I haven't had a Seiko JDM watch with misalignment issues.
This one is JDM, it's the SBER001, not the international SFJ001, so you were just lucky 😂😂

Yes the JDM have alignment issues as well, I sell many of them.
