New subscriber here! I have 2 boys and I'm just starting gentle parenting. My kids are 7 and 9 but it's never too late to start. Thank you for getting me on track. Breaking generational trauma 💔
I used to get the "Stop crying" one - usually with an added "or I'll give you something to cry about!", and the occasional "You've got nothing to be worried/scared/sad about" - even now I find it dificult to express my feelings.
This is very true. I tell my son when he's crying or very upset to come give me a hug and he actually stops .. but if I tell him to stop crying he crys louder or more dramatic.. I'm trying to be more mindful and just more aware and things are much better . He's 5 years old . I didn't grow up with gentle parenting more like old school parenting .with the belt lol .. I don't want to do the exact same as my parents did .
Way to go! I'm also trying to give my children a different upbringing as I didn't understand why I was treated in a way I was, when I was a child. I also noticed when I give my daughter lots of hugs and hold her for a minute or two and kiss her for a long time before bed, she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night and doesn't come to me. Her love tank is full :)
How lovely you are explaining number 5! For the next time when one of my kids yelling I am going to support him/her with asking he/she wants some help.
I remember being told or forced to apologize when I was a kid. I didn’t mean it but I’d say it to not get into more trouble. I also remember thinking, you can’t make me mean it. 😣
I wish I would explain to a CHILD why lol no. I said it. Do it. Or suffer consequences. A lot of these tips will have your child running the household. Maybe this isn’t the channel for me. Smh

Just try it :) Sometimes it's the shortest answer that satisfied their need for understanding. It also makes your child smarter and more successful.
