Well said I think we live in alternate universe villains are the heroes and the victims are the villains we want to look at criminals and say all it was just a rough upbringing that's how come they are like that! like we should feel sorry for them .. lol if you do some bad you got to go to jail sorry the best way to stay out of trouble is to stay out of trouble. Make good decisions in your life, my parents came from nothing from the island of Puerto Rico with only the clothes on thier back worked hard and moved forward there were able to provide for 7 kids. Now a day people just want thing handed to them. this is ones of the greatest city's in the USA with many opportunities just poor leadership. Chicago still has life and people that want to see the city thrive all four corners of the city. It's time to stop with the identity politics and get back to work.

Blah,Blah, Blah and nothing changes. Everyone is an expert when they’re running for office. Getting it done is a huge difference. Lightfoot hasn’t accomplished anything noteworthy. In fact we are losing in every livable statistic that makes Chicago the great city it once was. Big business is vacating, crime is up, taxes are up and city services are diminished. Residents are leaving the city in record numbers resulting in a shrinking tax base which directly results in higher property taxes. Chicago now has a horrific reputation around the world and valuable tourism revenue has drastically dropped. Vallas has the most hands on experience. Garcia is a strong contender as well.

Vallas lives down the block for me. He’s involved with the community over here. We have a good one for sure. It seems like he wants to keep it that way, make it better, and make every other community better as well. He has a large community of supporters by me, and many around Chicago as well. Some of the worst candidates for Chicago mayor. The only ones qualified are maybe Vallas and Garcia. And, even then, those aren't great candidates. The City has regressed. It's time to move to the suburbs.

I think his age and experience will hurt him. But, in my opinion, those are two things that should be his strength. He won’t be brainwashed and stuck in his ways on how to be a politician. More likely to be open minded when making decisions.

I have personally had people give me issue when I was just 25 and a boss to people in their 40’s-60’s. Right away dismissed based on age or “experience”. Until I taught them some tricks on the job to make life easier I wasn’t taken seriously.

Willie Wilson is an alternative choice. His answers regarding crime, along with Vallas, are the only ones addressing the immediacy of combating crime and offering realistic solutions.

What's causing the problems in Chicago:
Low wage Jobs that keep parents at work to survive increasing cost of existing in Chicago instead of being home with their kids.
The way schools are funded is not serving the undeserved communities and is leaving kids with poor education that is not sufficient for these kids to remain engaged in class or have a real future in the work place. They turn to the streets instead when the city neglects them. Most elementary and high schools are daycares not actual places for education. The level of learning in these schools is not preparing kids for jobs or college.
The investment in people being able to afford homes and create community is not enough. People are being pushed to rent and gentrification is displacing people from their communities. This is destabilizing communities.
The segregation in Chicago has to be tackled. The integration of chicago will create a more brotherly community throughout the city. The east and north side of Chicago is where a certain demographic concentrate their privilege and keeps out poc. This Inequity adds to the othering of poc and their sense of belonging in the city.
I don't think we're ever going to get a candidate that's going to address the real problems going on here. These candidates are fake.

Brandon Johnson & Ja'Mal Green - Invest in People - Love it! Every other response is nonsense for making us safer. Look at safety of every country on the planet that invests in their people. Locking more people up only exasperates the crime issue. Convicts will eat by hook or crook whether we invite them back into society or not.

Both need to be done. We can bandage it now, but the root causes also need to be addressed to help prevent it in the future.
My first question: WHO RELEASED JUSSIE SMOLLETT?
We need immediate measures of safety and long term measures. We do need more cops to respond to violent crimes and yes we need to Invest in the community. The youth needs more options and so do the adults. Schools should be open for after school programs and new technology needs to be utilized. Community centers should be made available for the people that need help. They need to also crack down on illegal guns and where they are coming from. How the same weapon is staying on the streets for multiple crimes.

So why haven't these issues been taken care of by the current mayors or the ones before her? It is the same issues over and over and if you vote for me I will take care of those issues that was supposed to be taken care off before from the other mayors and the current one. Why not come together and fix the issues since they all are aware of them? Just fix it already and stop with the promises and talking, people are suffering and money and housing is given to foreigners and not the people that are already here what kind of system are we in.
Most of the questions had tinge of, “ being fearful.” Then we wonder why government never changes.
It’s all about keeping the status quo and never, ever uprooting the system and replacing it with something that truly works for the people.
