  • Andy Burg from Messer joined the Digital Thread to discuss his journey with digital twin technology. During this interview, we cover the following topics:
Messer's Introduction to Digital Twin Technology:
Andy Berg from Messer discusses his journey in developing digital twin technology, focusing on lifecycle facility management. Over a decade, Messer has been helping clients gather and utilize data from design and construction phases, integrating this information into daily building management systems. The underlying technology, BIM (Building Information Modeling) middleware, plays a crucial role in this process.
    Integration and Streamlining of Software:
Messer's approach involves creating roadmaps for clients, integrating data into various management systems. Initially, clients used multiple software solutions, which made data access fragmented. The introduction of Tandem aimed to connect these different systems and provide a more cohesive view, streamlining workflow and reducing the need for accessing multiple platforms.
Role of Tandem in Data Structure and Facility Management:
Tandem assists in structuring data to be consistently imported across different systems, replacing manual data entry. It connects design and construction data from the cloud with facility management (FM) software, enabling better data utilization and analysis. Tandem also aids in visualizing and analyzing building models and maintenance information.
Concept and Application of Digital Twins:
The digital twin is defined by customer needs, based on the design model and subsequent maintenance. It incorporates model information and asset data, pushing this into FM software for enhanced analytics. Tandem's role is crucial in keeping the digital twin updated by syncing data from FM software with the Revit model, aiding in maintenance and operational efficiency.
Future Prospects and Onboarding Process: Looking forward, augmented reality (AR) is seen as a potential game-changer in digital twin technology, particularly for on-site maintenance work. Messer aims to facilitate client onboarding for digital twin usage through collaboration with Autodesk and Tandem, ensuring clients can effectively utilize the technology for time-saving and accuracy in facility management.

Export the Azure, Chat GPT, Revit, Plant 3D, Civil 3D, Inventor, ENGI file of the Building or Refinery to Excel, prepare Budget 1 and export it to COBRA. Prepare Budget 2 and export it to Microsoft Project. Solve the problems of Overallocated Resources, Planning Problems, prepare the Budget 3 with which the construction of the Building or the Refinery is going to be quoted.
