Yes, you're right this was more deforestation than transformation. Maybe it was BOTH. I was exhausted counting trees downed. Gave up after a while. You then corralled your buddies into removing the leaves. Also I am proud of you going the extra mile with the mulch an d Christmas gift. You made her day even after her personal tragedy. You cared. Quand on entend dire que les vieux sont seuls, c'est bien vrai. On peut mourir dans son coin, personne ne se soucie. J'ai deux exemples : 1. Une vieille dame, rentrée de courses avec sa voisine, est tombée chez elle le vendredi après-midi. Sa voisine ne s'est inquiètée de voir les portes-fenêtres grandes ouvertes que le dimanche. La vieille dame en est morte. 2. Une jeune collègue (~ 40 ans) est rentrée dans son appartement. C'était le week-end. Le lundi, elle n'est pas allée travailler, n'a pas appelé son bureau et n'a pas répondu au téléphone. Le mardi matin pareil. Son employeur a appelé les pompiers. Ils l'ont trouvé morte, le téléphone à la main, probablement du vendredi soir. Partout dans le monde, les personnes ~âgées ou pas~ sont seules. L'individualisme et l'égoïsme sont partout.

I so love it when go the extra mile - mulching, planting a few flowers, a minor repair here and there. But mainly no skimping. Most lawn folks on you tube never cut the volunteers on the fence line when this is probably needed the most.

Hey Alex, I added a battery-powered reciprocating saw to my tools to use when I need to get a tree or root in the dirt. Chainsaws get dull and messed up when you try to cut even with or into the dirt, but my little reciprocating saw is fantastic for getting things cut so nothing sticks up. I have to keep a half a mile of no-climb wire fence line clean and it is perfect!!! I have multiple batteries for it, works great!
That job was a big undertaking. You did a wonderful job for those ladies. God worked his miracles through you. May God continue to use you as He needs too. Merry Christmas and God Bless You!
This overgrown yard is such a stark contrast to the absolutely immaculate yard across the street. Also, it would be cool for yard transformations like this where a lot of volunteer trees and branches are cut if someone else was there with a wood chipper to grind it all up, perhaps spreading the chips on the front embankment.
