Really well-thought out and creative, I’d definitely be more than willing to pay full price for this game! I remember I was really disappointed to find that when the Professor’s daughter was going to be the star of the next game and it WASN’T Flora, lmao. I’m glad to see her getting more love and character development!

Hey there! Have you ever heard about the game for NDS and PC called May's Mysteries the Secret of Dragonville? Because if not...I highly recommrnd you to check it out! This game was HEAVILY inspired by Layton. And the best way to play it is on NDS. Because then you can totally see just HOW HEAVY this game was INSPIRED by Layton.

@@OrangeJuiceJaz Well, how did you like May's Mysteries? Don't say anything about rhythm games. I know that all the people just skip them. I managed to complete one of them, the first one...with savestates...and only after I completed the story. But excluding those, how did you like the game?

Wow this is such an interesting thought! I love the idea of puzzles being centred around the world, after playing the games consecutively I feel that each of the endless clicking and puzzle-solving in every step of the map becomes a bit of a chore and an obstacle towards the main objective so that would be a nice change. I love how you considered the Switch platform though I’m kinda hoping if there was gonna be a new Layton game they’d return to the charming 2D art style haha. The ancient language and door puzzles are really interesting and the new hint coin system, I would totally play this game! Also big thumbs up to a Layton game with side quests, really great video man I really enjoyed this.

They hate making the same game twice, they always need innovations in certain series. But in others they never change

@@Mqstodon this is true it’s a second party exclusive so Nintendo didn’t commission it... like with anything that is exclusive to Nintendo consoles I always assume they are controlled and made my Nintendo wrongly!

I recently started playing Curious Village (the only other Layton thing I've ever seen was "The Eternal Diva" which I loved.) So far it is so charming.
I envy you... You will really enjoy Diabolical box and Unwound Future if you enjoy Curious Village, Enjoy :)
Only buy diabolical box when the game box is included, there is something in it that will be useful later...

It is the only language I barely know. It reminds me of the futurama joke about french being a dead language! :P
But it's actually "Ich liebe die verlorene Zukunft" not "das verlorene Zukunft". Zukunft is a feminin word.
I was really surpriswd when I saw the german and found your kind of hidden message very funny, so please don't take my critic personal :)

It is unfortunate, but it comes down to people designing the game for maximum profit without the foresight to see that making "good" games are better in the long run than "immediately profitable" games. Bad design is always unforgivable.

This would be so brilliant, the creativity here is amazing! Would love to see more integrated puzzles- I think the random puzzles worked well within the context or St Mystere but have felt a little stale and like a bit of a missed opportunity since. Hope level 5 are watching! Would also absolutely adore to have the og trilogy ported to switch so I could watch the hd cutscenes without killing my phone.
Thank you! Yeah context and setting do matter for something that is trying to be a bit grounded in its setting, not a deal breaker but would add to the immersion more.
I would pay so much for a Port of the first 3 games for sure. That and maybe Phoenix wright and other good DS games.

Mini-games are always a fun break of pace in the Layton games so I would be happy with them

Wait, are you retconning the whole of the prequel series on top of Mystery Room and Lady Layton? Because while I like most of what you've suggested it seems to me kind of a weird move to introduce another ancient civilization on top of the Azran and somehow not have the two be related at all, especially because they sound very similar to me (but that could also be because it's been a few years since I played any of the prequel games)
Maybe this could be some kind of offshoot from the Azran who disagreed with the Azrans worldview and isolated themselves as a result, idunno, just, not speaking a word of any of the whole Azran thing seems very weird to me, especially since half of the series and probably half or more of the layton world is pretty entangled with it. Pretending like it didn't exist in the background would at that point probably do more harm than good or it would at the very least be very confusing.
I did not Take Mystery Room into consideration as I hadn't played it at the time of editing, so I didn't read the plot or canon lore for that!
Well I did consider making the ancient civilization the Azran itself or like you say, some smaller faction of them that made a colony in the America's, I just couldn't be arsed to think of the ramifications for the whole of the series if that was the case. The Azran Legacy was such a huge plot that involved places all over the world that it sort of makes everything small and dumb in comparison. Yeah I would think its a bit lazy of me for "Another Ancient Civ" in honesty, I'm not a very good writer ;)
What would probably be best would be to assume that they were Similar to British Colonies going to Australia or America or something and then work in ties with the Azran and other places that their technology showed up and stuff.

Personally, they should've given Flora as Katrielles assistant, considering she can relate the best to the professor leaving her behind 😂 however, Flora would be even Older and perhaps a great mentor figure for Katrielle too. I also love Flora as a character, her design is appealing and very natural, while Katrielle is Flora 2.0
Super video first of all ! However do you consider the Katrielle anime canon ? Because if I recall correctly, Layton and Don Paolo still have some beef, he kinda locked up Luke in the British museum cave and tried to do the same on Herschel
I struggle to find media outside of the games influences me. I remember Final Fantasy 15 needing both a Movie and Anime as mandatory watching to understand the plot. Not everyone is going to do that, so cater for that in your game.

@@thesadbot Haha I don't know never thought about it! I always made the art as very quick basic drawing that look like crappy mock up prefab art and it both is really quick and fits the lazy theme of the videos :L but I certainly wouldn't be against art in future videos!
My favorite game is the lost future, and your?
Lost Future Easily. Great Puzzles, polished Mechanics and a gripping engaging story that delivers good character arcs
it's a really good concept...though the only thing i'd change is chaning Flora for Katrielle and pseudo-rebooting her, starting her from scratch and making the millionare conspiracy into a non-canon spin-off, with her as the main character instead and Layton as her companion. show them developing as father/daughter as she learns how to be a dectective
I like this idea as well, just wave the game away, change her personality and don’t acknowledge!
I have just one small question: is PLvsPW canon to this theoretical game? If so, I think some of the characters from that game would fit well here, specifically Arthur (the storyteller) due to his experience with ancients, ruins, and exploration in his youth. Personally, I feel that you could include them via a dlc, or perhaps a choice you could make to ask arthur to come or not when Don Paolo enters the story.

While a really cool concept, it would mess up the timeline a little considering the anime is canon.
hahaha I am sure it would, I haven't watched the anime and so in my head the only thing I would base the Hypothetical game off would be the previous games! Maybe its a soft reboot ;)
@@OrangeJuiceJaz TL;DR: Luke was 15 (2-3 years after Unwound/Lost Future) when Katrielle was born, and he helped deliver the baby, and the mother didn't survive the delivery. Luke later gave the child to Layton, and after failing to locate her father, Layton raised Katrielle as his own.

@@OrangeJuiceJaz Kinda? Kat’s mom died on a literal sinking ship. (Why Luke of all people was delivering the baby.) I can’t remember if she died from complications during the birth or was too weak to leave the ship.
Anyway, my main point wouldn’t be that this would be their first reunion since Unwound/Lost Future.
