  • In this video, I will be teaching you guys to understand the laning concepts in Mid using some coaching session examples with a 3.6k MMR student. It will consist of gameplay from my perspective, followed by the analysis for the game afterwards (explaining how to view every creep kill and wave to set up for punishment using spells). You will notice patterns that are repeated in terms of how to think about the lane, whether that be you are playing a melee or ranged hero.
    Hope you will enjoy the video, thank you!

    Played this game since release, i've always been one to watch dota educational content, going all the way back to Professor FierecE, and nearly everyone in between. You seriously create the best content i've seen in this game. VERY high level concepts that are directly applicable, immediately after watching. All explained in a very simple way that makes alot of sense. Hope you continue to do the work you have been doing.

    Here I am watching these as a 900 player 😂 I'm sure it will help me though. It's crazy how the "little things" at the start of the game can have such a good impact - I learn to appreciate their value more and more. It's also crazy how much a matchup can be equalized or flipped around with the skill difference of the players.. really goes to show how gamechanging these concepts are

    Always respect every video you put out, Mr. Balloon. You never fail to demonstrate the simplicity in the complex game that is DOTA 2. While many like to overcomplicate and overanalyse things, you have a great way of breaking things down to their fundamental elements and conveying exactly why whatever someone is doing is either optimal or not - especially impressive with english not being your first language. Your contribution to the DOTA community is invaluable. Please keep uploading whenever life allows you to

    • @BalloonDota
      @BalloonDota  6 місяців тому

      That depends on the players' difference in wave control and mechanical skill. But generally, these matchups would require that the melee heroes stack the neutral camps rather than sit in lane once the lane becomes increasingly more dangerous.

    • @BalloonDota
      @BalloonDota  6 місяців тому +2

      Regardless, you still should try to invoke a response from the enemy. Because if he casts this spell for this wave, the next 20 seconds or so he will not have that spell to use in another scenario again. This potentially gives you a chance to trade/secure creeps favorably later on.

    sorry if I missed it, why do we kill the creeps as quickly as possible? does keeping the wave near your tower not matter?

    • @BalloonDota
      @BalloonDota  2 місяці тому

      Hi, its to set up the creep so that you can use it to trade effectively off a spell or punish with hits on the enemy hero. It is not with intent to push the wave.

    TIA!

    • @BalloonDota
      @BalloonDota  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi, the tool is EpicPen.
      If you can punish him without drawing tower aggro, either by following the wave or skipping past the tower through the trees on the side and connecting to him in between the two towers then that would be more favorable. Otherwise, if you cannot contest him, then just block the creeps. Sometimes, you don't want to block your creeps either as a way to have their tower help push the wave back to you. It highly depends on the scenario.

    i feel like in certain matchup like ember vs arc warden or lina or even od is better to skill sleight of fist and play for securing range and harrass off cooldown

    • @BalloonDota
      @BalloonDota  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes, this is highly situational based on what's happening at level 1. normally you would need to save your skill until you see opportunity to either punish or secure ranged/dodge spell using sleight in the moment. What is shown in the examples are the ideal scenarios things work out the way they are supposed to work. (can guarantee 9/10 times it will be this way in lower mmr game matchups)

    What's the rational behind hitting full HP creeps? In what situations would you refrain from doing that?

    • @BalloonDota
      @BalloonDota  6 місяців тому +3

      Hi, the purpose behind hitting full hp creeps are to lower them down faster so that eventually when you trade, you will have lesser creeps doing damage to you. At the same time, it allows you to use these creeps as bait to either force the enemy to deny or give them up, which both will result in punishment being done to them. In short, it hastens everything you can do in lane.

    How do you creep block like this lol I always try side to side hitting stop button to slow wave but one always gets through by walking out to side from the pack and if I try to block as slow as you do I have no chance xD

    • @BalloonDota
      @BalloonDota  5 місяців тому +1

      The trick is to move side ways lesser, but move forwards more and a few stop buttons here and there. Moving side to side with stop button repeatedly will easily allow creeps to pass through because your hero will not be able to make up for the lack of movement speed early on.
