2 Nights Temple Stay Koyasan December 2023

2 special nights staying at the Koyasan Shukubo Saizenin temple. Located across the road from the grand central pagoda (Kongobu-ji Danjo Garan). Travelling to Koyosan is definitely part of the experience, with the scenic train trip and what feels like vertical cable car. Even the bus into Koyosan was an experience with its winding roads. Our Koyosan temple stay included breakfast and dinner, shared in a dining hall, seated on the floor. The meals were thoughtfully prepared by the monks and were a highlight of our stay. We also had the privilege of attending one of the monk’s morning prayer and worship sessions.
Koyosan is a special place with incredible natural beauty and dramatic pagodas and gates. Walking through the Okunoin Cemetery 2km s of 200,000 tombstones. Japan’s largest cemetery was a visually dramatic and enchanting place.

Eats:
Kadohama Goma-tofu honpo. Incredible experience celebrating the locally made sesame tofu.
