I'm hoping I can my 2015 model's ECU and TCU upgraded, but I've had to run circles just to get them to tell me where I can the upgrade. And I heard the upgrade should be free, but the service center I contacted wanted to charge me for it. Their customer service in Malaysia is really not up to par.
This car's handling is addictive and the turbocharged engine has lots of torque, but due to a low compression ratio of 9.4:1 and a lossy CVT the fuel efficiency suffers. But at least, every drop of petrol dies a meaningful death.
I hope Proton Australia can somehow advice Proton Malaysia regarding the distortion (dent, creases on both front door just below the grab door handle) please look side way, to have a better look, same with the Preve b'coz they share the same door.Our complain felt on deaf ears! You can even see them if your eyes are sharp at 5.56 onwards on the video seeing live is much more believing.
I own and drive a Proton Satria 1.8L GTi and I love it, but finding parts and information about my vehicle is a nightmare, Malaysian sellers hardly ever want to sell parts to people outside of Malaysia making it nearly impossible to find external body panels. Combine this with my car coming out in 2 versions (Mitsubishi version and a Siemens/VDO version for last 3 years the GTi sold) both with completely different electronics, sensors and internals make it extremely hard to find others with not only a Proton Satria GTi (which alone is a rare vehicle) but specifically a VDO GTi. Likely less than 80 examples in Australia. I've even attempted to contact Proton Malaysia to see if they had any factory parts available for my vehicle, I was simply told "Sorry please visit your nearest Proton service centre. I contacted my service centre here in Townsville, Australia and was told unfortunately my car is too old and no spare parts stocked. I love driving my GTi but over time it is deteriorating and with spare parts becoming increasingly harder to find I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep my GTi on the road. Is there anywhere in Australia or overseas that might be able to help me source spare parts for my car, please Proton?
You can try search and ask proton's fans group on facebook regarding on your problem in finding spareparts for your car. You can search them by adding this keyword on your search. Wirs, Iswara, Saga, Satria and of course Proton. Hopefully this would solve your problem.
