- Fly fishing for sockeye(red) salmon in a clear, riffly creek in Alaska (Fish Creek) using a technique called "flossing." Fish Creek, Alaska is one of my favorite local creeks to fish for salmon in South-Central Alaska because it is shallow, clear, riffly water that makes it extremely easy to use the technique known as "flossing," a method where you dredge your line across the creek bottom and "floss" it through the fish's mouth and then set the hook - essentially a legal form of snagging, as in most cases Sockeye(Red Salmon) typically do not feed as they move up river to spawn, and thus, will not actively chase and eat a fly. Once perfected, this method is a sure way to quickly get yourself a limit of tasty fish!

Person who hooks it counts towards their limit, not the person who landed it. Those first two you handed off counted for you not the kid. It’s listed in the “bag limit” definition in the ADFG reg book

@jeanclaudedus51100 Huh? The limit is 3. I kept 3, not 4 or 5. Salmon fishing in Alaska is for subsistence, not catch and release. These fish all got eaten/froze to last through the winter.
