Master Bath Makeover | New Floors + Ikea Vanity Hack
Вставка
- Опубліковано 11 січ 2021
- I had so much fun making over our master bathroom recently and am so excited to share the outcome plus a step by step tutorial on how I did everything. I ripped out the ugly builder's grade vanity and replaced it with some inexpensive Ikea Godmorgon vanities which I did a really cool hack on that makes it look like two custom vanities. I also ripped out the old painted and stenciled linoleum floor and took my spin try at tiling and I think it came out great! Make sure you leave a comment and let me know what you think!
I shared even more behind the scenes info over on instagram, so make sure you're following me at / meganbellmade to stay up to date on all of my current projects. You can find the behind the scenes for this project under the highlight "bathroom."

You are such an inspiration. To see what you are able to achieve as a woman, made me realize that I don't have to wait for someone to help out, I too can roll up my sleeves and do it myself! Thank you for giving me strength and motivation.
AMAZIIING WORK Megan ! I love it !!
Absolutely beautiful! I love the dark green walls in the water closet and the hex tiles. I know you are thrilled with the results of your hard work!
Looks fantastic! Very excited for your new horizon.
I am so impressed with this DIY! Very inspirational!
Thanks so much for this vid! You inspired my bathrooms!!!!!!! I am going to do the same vanity downstairs. And my upstairs toilet room, I painted dark green. The dark green was totally outside of my comfort zone, but after I saw yours, I knew I just had too! You do such amazing work! Thank you again!!!!
Fantastic job! I really like all the customizing you did. I do a lot of handiwork, including tiling walls and floors, but I never attempted plumbing. You made it look feasible, and that's what I'll try next. Thanks for your tutorials and your never ending enthusiasm for a new project.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
Wowza, wowza, exceptional job and I love your taste. Beautiful work and all decor selections!! Very inspirational. Awesome job!!
That bold green is a showstopper. Great choice! Olive and other dark greens are one of my favorite colors to use in my home as accents
Wow! Beautiful job! 💜
Thanks for sharing!
Awesome job! This makes me want to tackle my master bath now... 😊
Dear Megan - hats off to you for all the works u hv done here...you're incredible!!! Thx for sharing with us :)
Well done Megan, another great job!! Love that Green Paint. Your Son is so adorable and he looks just like you. Best wishes for 2021.
This is amazing! Thank you for posting all the resources
Love it! great job, Megan! You gave me some awesome ideas for my bathroom! :) thank you
Fantastic Video!! First off your child is adorable!! Thank you helping me realize I can do this, so inspirational and such good taste ❤️
It looks so beautiful! ❤️
Thank you for sharing this!!!!! Oh my gosh it’s so beautiful and inspiring ❤️
Thank you so much!!
The legs and wooden factual for the draws hatch are such good idea. They make the IKEA cabinets look a bit like furniture. Good idea!
BEAUTIFUL! Your ROI is going to be amazing!
Gosh, I hope you're right! And thank you!
I really love your style and ideas!! I hope we can use some of these ideas and hacks in our bathroom!
Absolutely beautiful!
major inspiration! I've never thought to hang a pendant above the bath but I love it!
Thank you, Laura! That spot was such a tricky place to decorate!
Looks so good! Thanks for the shoutout. Your content and advice has gotten us through lots of projects ❤️
This is stunning!
I don’t know if I ever commented… but you totally inspired me! I did this exact vanity in my downstairs bathroom, and I was able to do it all by myself- even the plumbing!!! I also painted my upstairs toilet room a similar dark green & also used the same tile! I just wanted to say I appreciate your creativity so much!! THANK YOU!
Oh wow, that makes me so happy! I am so glad it worked out for you. Thank you for coming back and letting me know.
Wow! You're an inspiration! May God bless you & your family.
Wow you give me some great inspiration.
Im looking for a way to re vamp a modern buffet thats yellowed & i think you are the girl to watch for some tips beyond just painting it.
Ive Subscribed.
I loved both the before and the after.
That's such a compliment! Thank you!
What a great job you did!
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow that water closet is yhe size of an apartment in new york 😂😂
LOL! I believe that!
Great job! 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾❤️❤️❤️
Love, love, LOVE😍 All you did to update this bathroom👏👏👏❣️ I'm also impressed with you letting other's know that the plumbing is actually doable for people (as I tell other's all the time) if you just take it one step @ a time & follow the instructions 👍❣️❣️ MY ONLY QUESTION❣️❣️❣️ IS the one thing I was looking for that you said you would list (& the ONLY thing missing) is THE LINK for The drywall anchors that you've found that actually work well??? So PLEASE LET ME KNOW??? 😉👍❣️❣️❣️
It looks beautiful, Megan! I'm so happy that brass is making a comeback. I never really cared for the brushed nickel craze. My favorite is the green paint in the water closet... especially with that beautiful vintage rug. The tile floor is very nice, but didn't it kinda get you to have to cut up that fantastic paint job you did on the linoleum?? By the way, I really like the wreath that you have hanging on the window above your kitchen sink. Miles just keeps getting more and more adorable! Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Love it!
Looks amazing 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Gorgeous! 🖤
Thank you!! 😊
Great 👍🏽 job I love ❤️ it
Megan its beautiful!
Thank you so much, Nikkie!
super awesome and great :D
How do you not have more followers! You're amazing!
I really appreciate that! 😍
Hey - FYI, I’d you do this again, there’s a way that you can leverage that ikea p trap and maneuver it to sit flush against the wall so that you don’t have to cut out a space for the back of the drawer to fit it.
All the best. This video was great.
great tutorial
Kudos just for doing things urself. Very nice
UAU!!! Incrível... Parabéns❣ 👏👏👏🥰
Awe, thank you!
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
Bravo! pour la deco👏👍
I love the tiles
Me too! Thank you!
Great job!! I’m currently working on my master bathroom too, but with simple updates. I’m too intimidated to tile, etc.😬 Thank you for sharing.💕
Thank you, Wendy! I totally get the intimidation. I felt the same way and not a lot of house projects do that to me! But I feel really good having done it once, and now I'm confident I can do it again.
It looks awesome and I am so impressed with your DIY abilities! You do such a great job!!
Would you link the drywall anchors that you use? Thank you!
So sorry for that mistake! Fixing it. Sent you a link on Instagram as well. 💛
Did you have to remove wall tile in shower and bathtub in order to install the new fixtures?
Fantastic!! I had just decided to update our bathroom with the Godmorgon cabinet and found the reviews about the wall anchoring being problematic without studs in the correct place (sink pulling away from the wall and sagging because of the weight - on longer vanities). I really wanted to add legs like yours anyway to get a more mid-century modern look. Does the bottom of the cabinet allow for four legs so the wall anchoring can just be for stabilizing? I can't find any pictures of the entire bottom and I don't want the legs only on the front. You do great work and you are my inspiration to tackle the plumbing!! Thanks for sharing :)
Hey Pam! Thanks for the compliments! Yes, there’s room for four legs, however i would be aware that adding back legs will create some difficulty and extra work with cleaning back there. We used drywall anchors and just two legs and found it to be very sturdy.
Megan I’m so bummed! I tried to copy your wall colors but for some reason aesthetic white looks blue toned in my house 🥴 Love your style!!!
I love the music that plays in your videos. Such a vibe. This is a very inspiring video! Great work
Looks so nice! Did you consider making your own tub panel out of the same stained pine as your vanity drawers?
I did! But since we are planning to sell our home soon we decided to leave it as it may not be everyones taste.
How tall are the legs you bought? I want to add legs to this vanity as well. Thanks for a great video!
Megan, I just bought the same vanity after seeing your vid, this looks stunning! I would like to replicate what you did with the drawer fronts, which golden oak and which sealer did you use? Would it also be possible to stain/paint the drawer fronts the vanity comes with? Just thoughts, thanks for the inspiration :)
Hey there! The drawer fronts that come with the vanity are typical ikea materials. I have in the past primed and painted this same material, but it does not hold up well. I would either leave as is or create new drawer fronts like I did rather than attempt to paint and be upset with scratches and chips later down the road. I use Golden Oak from minwax, but varathane also makes it. And I sealed it was a matte polyurethane.
@@MeganBell thanks for the tips! Good to know on the ikea chipped paint :)
Love your flooring. Curious if you know the size of spacers you used?
Thank you! We used 1/8” spacers
Mixed metals is the new in thing i believe
Wish could of seen more of the finished bathroom as a whole 😪
LV IT ★★★★★ ♥♥♥♥♥
Love your videos!
Why didn’t you paint the floor again rather than putting in tile? I’ve painted a few floors and I find it so much easier/cheaper than ceramic tile.
Thank you Michelle! We decided to tile to add some value to the space as we plan to sell. Painted floor doesn't add any value, but a new tiled floor does.
wie habt ihr die fliesen am Boden befestigt? liegen die nur drauf oder sind die geklebt?
Beautiful. 👍🏾💯❤️. Hugz
👍👍👍🥰💕
👍🏿❤️😍
Wow very nice. Only change would be to add gold globe over bathtub similar to lighting over vanities. Basket light looks cheap.
The tile grout lines aren't evenly spaced or straight.
Don't bother watching all the way through, the first 1.5 minutes will show you everything you need to see
I love it but I don’t watch videos if I saw the results already. There is no fun in the process anymore
