One time many years ago that I slipped and fell and even injured my left knee. I have slid down towards my hands and knees to crawled towards my car without getting hurt. I don’t liked to walk on ice. It is so hard for me to get back up right away.

Grew up in California. Didn't take me long to learn to drive on the grass coming down a hill so as not to kill anyone in the winter time.

It's funny, but it's also very very scary indication of alienation to their own environment. No roots to guide the restoration of knowledge; no love to take root. Меня удивляет, почему надо тупо идти по ледовой дороге, когда есть на обочине снег. Просто перейти-перекатись😀, снег хоть и будет покрыт обледенелой коркой, но там можно пройти не так, как по дороге.

I lived in NY most of my life and what was helpful for me was walking in the snow if there was any on the ground which for the most part there was. I also bought these snow shoes from Amazon with spikes on them that break the ice and grips on that were extremely helpful. You live and learn.
Alternatively buy the spikes set in rubber, that easily straps to any pair of shoes 😉👌🏽

I'm from Minnesota and these conditions are incredibly dangerous. People can easily fall down and smash their faces and break their teeth off or even get a traumatic brain injury. Ice cleats are a necessity. Oftentiimes during these conditions, the authorities recommend that people don't drive or leave their homes. These weather conditions are far more dangerous than blizzard conditions.

Целеустремлённость восхищает, а жизненного опыта нет! Как я хожу при гололёде : 1. походка балерины( очень давно вычитала в газете) - носок-ступня-пятка; 2.на небольшую горку поднимаюсь как лыжник : не лицом к цели, а боком. В любом городе есть газоны. Ходите по ним : жизнь и здоровье дороже!

Про балерин не знаю, я сезон первого снега и стаивания всего, что за 8 месяцев зимы нападало, называю цапельным. Или ты переступаешь ногами как цапля лапами, или очень весело летаешь вверх тормашками)

@@rocketsland9539 смех может быть ещё и защитной реакцией. Смех вообще сформировался как реакция на условно опасную ситуацию, которая обернулась хорошо. Тут никто не умер, и вообще без травм, люди на видео сами угарают, а нам почему нельзя?)
И да, как человек, живущий в Якутии, и ежегодно 9 из 12 месяцев в году с подобным сталкивающийся, ответственно заявляю - подскользнувшийся человек вызывает в первую очередь смех и у прохожих, и у самого упавшего. Если это не бабушка или дедушка, которые рассыпаться могут. Но при этом летуну всегда помогут встать, отряхнуться, и проверить наличие на месте рук, ног и копчика)
И всем надо идти по дороге! Шаг в сторону на снег сделать не судьба

I know absolutely nothing about dealing with ice unless it's in a drink. I live in deep South Texas. I laughed at some of this. Especially when the people were laughing themselves. I got concerned when it looked really dangerous and held my breath for their safety. Looks kind of fun and scary at the time. My goodness Mother Nature is a tricky Lady. I hope y'all who deal with this just about every winter stay safe and happy. Just be careful.😊

I have plenty of ice in my drink at the moment mainly water, it has been hitting close to 40.C. I have never seen ice well except for when we have an overnight frost and there may be a few mm of ice on top of water left out in a bucket overnight.

Believe it or not, ice isn't nearly as bad as slushy snow. At least you can brake early and over steer to keep control on ice. On slush, you can suddenly start hydroplaning and it legitimately feels like your steering wheel doesn't work. Seeing people spin completely sideways trying to stop at lights or slowly sliding sideways off the road is not uncommon here.

I got home safely, parked on my driveway, got out and when I closed the door, the car started to slide away. It took out my neighbors mail box.

Просто не успевают дорожники всё зараз посыпать. В любой,даже самой развитой стране количество дтп зимой возрастает.

Это наши куркули запасают "на чёрный день" и соль и сахар,целыми упаковками. Ну,у нас правда другие реалии, сегодня не купил- завтра подорожало. Наших жизнь уже научила,а у них со времен великой депрессии никаких особых кризисов и не было.
My husband and I went on a hike and thought that we were dressed appropriately including the hiking boots and walking poles.
It was going great until we came to a steep incline.
Guess who slid all the way down on that incline on her arse.
I chose to not wear the cleats that my hubby provided because I didn’t think that they were necessary.

Ice is awful. We live in the south and drop salt on our driveway the moment it starts. If we don't, we can't drive out to the street without sliding back towards the house and that would be a huge issue.

Try ice melter instead! It’s more environmentally friendly, compared to salt! My neighbourhood hardware store carries it in generous quantities!

а вообще про хождение в лед, особенно если до дома метров 10-20 осталось, а вы не можете встать и пройти по льду, есть простой лайфхак. Да, может быть неловко это сделать, но если вы хотите уберечь себя от падений и не дай бог перелома ключицы или больного вывиха ноги, просто снимите обувь и дойдите до входной двери дома или подъезда чисто в носках! Ноги вы не успеете отморозить, зато спокойно дойдете

Ой,нууу,насмеялась я )),а парень так упорно скользил по льду на дороге,а с двух сторон были газоны из травы,но он по ним не пошёл))),юморист!))) А девушка в белой куртке,никак не могла идти по дороге ледяной и всё,время падала ,но руку из кармана так и не вынула для балансировки,я в шоке))),что у нее было в правом кармане -клей!?)))

That reminds me of my school days. Our school was a few hundred meters uphill (pretty steep) from the bus station. Every winter morning everyone walked through the snow to the sides of the path. In the afternoons we would look for the biggest ice sheets that haven't molten in the sun yet to slide down as far as possible. This pathway turned into an ice skating rink during winter. Sadly, I doubt it would be possible today. In situations like these the climate change over the past years becomes pretty obvious.

Странно, но я никогда такого не видела в своём городе. У нас улицы очень быстро посыпают солью или песком, службы реагируют на гололёд очень быстро. Почему в странах просвещённого запада такая лажа?

I put a blanket down for traction. The blanket started to slide down the slope with me on it. I was trying to rescue my dog who slid all the way to the back fence. Thank heavens for neighbors who come to the rescue. He was almost a frozen weiner dog.
