🚀. I started this channel in 2018 to upskill my design team on user experience methods, rapid UX prototyping, service design, and more at a scale. Gladly the material I use is also relevant for other people across the globe (like yourself).
🧔 Who am I: UX research and design team manager, experience design lead, strategist, and design educator. I love complex services, enterprise UX tools, human decision support and AI tools.
👋 Get in touch: quickest option - @vytautasalech on Twitter; also - hello@vaexperience.com. Note I try to respond to every email, however, given the time constraints it might take a while. The shorter and more specific the query the quicker the response!

This video led me to reflect on the relationship with some people I
started connecting with since I decided switching carreers into UX
Design. Great point you make about asking specific questions or for a
    concrete advice.

My fav mentor is books. I tried to read at least 3 UX/UI or any other design related books per year. Some of those books are not even design related. "Deep Work" by Cal Newport was a profound book I read 4 years ago. I was very much inspired by it which prompted me to quit most of my social network accounts(FB, TW, INST). I never looked back. The time I've gained on doing more meaningful things is priceless.

One other quasi "mentorship" approach is attending UX/UI workshops. Reading books is one way communication, it lacks that feedback loop. Attending a UX/UI online/offline workshop can provide that. Most of them involve you doing some sort of homework. You not only get feedback from the facilitator, but also from peers. The added value to this is "networking". I've attended quite a few of those online workshops and I've learned a lot. All of those workshop facilitators were critical thinkers, they're not bullshitting around. They ask tough questions and challenge you to think differently. They make sure you get your money's worth. The down side is that you need to pay, but think of it as a career investment. Building a relationship with a mentor might be free, but it's also an investment of time, trust and emotion.

I don't have a mentor but I did get a great deal of help from someone higher up in my industry. I found her in the credits of a movie I liked, emailed her some questions, and she offered to call me. I emailed lots of people my questions, but she was the most responsive. Years later I thanked her for her help and she offered me a portfolio review. You don't always need someone to help you every day
