Last year when building my connections in politics (still am), I got talking with a candidate and offered to take them for a dinner. He ended up introducing me to higher ups and MPs in the party. Take them for dinner lol, it's an investment!
Lol great point 😂 it goes along with the point of add value to them (the food Haha) and they will add value to you. So cool that you are going into politics 🙌🏾🙌🏾
@@jaderose9668 I actually just spoke politics. We already had a mutual interest, since we met for politics, we spoke on that. I did not need to go into life details cause I wanted a professional relationship first, not a buddy. Eventually got there and he introduced me to his mother-in-law lol. Hope that helps.
I'm an aspiring director and meeting a well known TV director tomorrow morning, this helped me out alot and got me in the right mindset. Thank you so much!
Thank you for clarifying that we should do our research on a mentor before meeting them! I always feel so weird “stalking” people on LinkedIn before I meet them and try not too say anything about their past experiences so I don’t seem creepy lmao also I swear every video you’ve made in the past couple weeks has been so applicable to my life!!!
Haha there is definitely a balance needed because you don’t want to come off too creepy! But finding similarities that you can bring up in conversation is so so helpful! Thank you girl, I’m so glad the videos are helpful 🙌🏾 If there is anything else you want to see please let me know!
Reni , I'm a guy that's still trying to find my feet and get into the Film industry and it's been advised to have a mentor for guidance and to learn from them. Ive approached a lot of them and faced rejection. This is some valuable guidance on the way I should approach a mentor. Thank you :)
I would suggest to find people in the industry that you want to get in, and see if there are some people who stated that they're a mentor in their headline
I like how you break everything down. The questions are really great to keep the conversation going and to get valuable information. Great one as always..
I love these questions especially: the outgrown your role and what mistakes were made so that I wouldn’t make them... you are so knowledgeable !! I promise you if there is a topic I want to know about, I’m going to ask you so i can get the real facts
xoReni I love this information you are sharing it doesn't only apply to your age group, but all age group who are interested to improve on they self-growth, the information is well accepted. However; where do you fine mentors? Ones that are legitimate, affordable if there is a cost to it , and will get you to develop effectively in what you are getting mentorship in. I will love to hear your answer to these questions. Thank you and as usual great video
Thanks for commenting Desiree! I find mentors by reaching out to people I admire using LinkedIn, getting an introduction from a mutual friend or joining different mentorship groups. Black Professional in Tech Network and the Canadian Association of Urban Financial Professionals both have mentorship programs to join.
These are really great questions Reni! I have a mentor ship meeting coming and up and this is really helpful! Thanks for sharing! You’re truly the plug ey!
I am in High school can you please tell what should I do in order to become successful and increase my chances of finding a mentor? Or any other advice in general
Just wanted to tell you that i took your advice and dug in the company archives to stalk my Mentor a bit, then put everything i found up on the intro slide. Idk if i freaked her out but hey she's my Mentor now so win win, thank you
Thank you Reni this was so helpful. I met with my mentor. We had a nice chat over phone because he was out of the country. My question is, at what time after meeting with your mentor do u send the thank you email
Let's talk about how to have a great coffee chat! Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/HRbNYL6meg4/v-deo.html

I typically send it right after the meeting so that I don’t forget :)
@@xoReni thank you. Have a great day
Wow! So if someone says “message me any time” means they said no. Ok.
Basically that they don’t have time for a dedicated one on one relationship 😅
