- In this 1985 CFRN television production of Sun Country, host Ian Tyson features American guest Gail Davies, the first female record producer in country music, along with Tim Williams. The show was taped in the studion in Edmonton, Alberta and was produced by Fred Vos, who recovered this lost tape.
She is SO AWESOME. One of my two favorite lady singers and favorite gails, Gail Davies and Crystal Gayle. I never get tired of this song!
I can't believe that I missed out on all of this good stuff. It is good to be out in the sunshine. It is a little cold under the rock.
Gail Davies is underappreciated for everything she has contributed. Her songwriting is intelligent and it's not that common for a voice so strong to have that kind of clarity. It's a shame that so many great artists were abandoned in favor of little no-talent Barbie dolls who diluted the artform to a pop illusion that consists of meaningless lyrics and auto-tuning. The result was short-shelf-life, disposable products, not timeless artists like Ms. Davies.
A long time back…cowboy days. I was running the dude barn at The 108 Ranch in BC. There are a load of friends onstage here, three of them gone now: Stu Mitchell on drums, Gaye DeLorme on rhythm guitar, and Ol’ Eon (I still own the flight case he had made for that D-45).
Who are those female backup singers?
@@parkerk7018 Susan Gilbert (?) and Kennedy Jensen.
