There are 100s of people who have been victim of this policy is sold that it is give a return of 12-13 percent and also it is not linked to market. They didn't told us about any charges. Reminded me of the Toxic masculinity ad by Gillette & their likes. With regards to curated content, the elephant in the room to me seems to be Big Social Media Corps.
Constructive Criticisms is good against Giants like Tatas which keeps them aware that they aren't Godly .. but we as Indians have to acknowledge that this conglomerate good deeds outweighs way more than its mis deeds for over 100 years in building our nation

Late Vinod Mehta dared to publish Nira Radia tapes content in his magazine and Tatas stopped all the advertisements thereafter from that publication.
Feeling lucky to find your take on the Tanishq ad. Your insights synch with my first reaction :
"It is a noble idea conveyed by the storyline in the ad. But it would have been a good ad provided released as a social ad, as a PSA.
Usually governments, NGOs and spiritual organisations 'not for profit' do such publicity.
The Tanishq ad is a commercial in one with a profit motive. So with respect to the business goal it is disastrous one. Without any risk assessment they have made this. It is the effect of looking things from the ivory tower.
They have not forecast the repercussions when the country is passing through volatile situations. Simply they have released the ad thinking only of a rosy picture.
It is a management mistake.
Otherwise the ad's content of social message as a documentary /short film is well recommended.
It outrightly rejegects and to be precise " Promotes" a social evil called love jihad... It's the main reason fir controversy... They could have reversed the couple and then saw their stores burning 🔥 in midnight... So hindus outraged over their role being thought of to be passive... That's my take of the issue

While watching this video, I had a doubt which I believe is reasonable to ask: What about Ambanis and the other corporates of such stature? If Tata is not clean according to your standards, How would you describe Ambani's business practices and that of many other corporates?

Hi mam I revisited your "Brokering News", which was done more than a decade ago.Brands were playing the "Positive Power of Curated controversies" Game the same way as of now with only difference being now they got additional weapon in the form of social media to amplify it.

Good balanced views on the Tanishq ad. Those who supported the ad, just imagine a different scenario depicted by Tanishq. Say, a Muslim woman is being helped by her Hindu MiL to celebrate Eid or some other Islamic festival or ceremony. How do you think the Muslims would've reacted to that ad ? I bet it would've evoked far stronger protests and certainly much rioting and arson, as seen in / near Bengaluru recently. This, despite the latter as being closer to reality, as Hinduism doesn't require a bribe or groom to convert to Hinduism before marriage to a Hindu man / woman. OTC, Islamic personal laws require both the bride & groom to be Muslims, and that's why women who marry Muslim men are perforce converted to Islam and only then married to their Muslim beau. So, the Tanishq ad was factually incorrect, besides riling Hindus purposely. Just as there's CBFC for films, there ought to be a statutory body to certify advertisements before they can be screened. As for the Tata group, it's not the same haloed business group it was during Mr JRD Tata's time. Ratan Tata ruined the very ethos or DNA of the group his predecessors built with do much care over a century. Scandals like the Niira Radia tapes one which involved Ratan Tata too, were mere symptoms of a deeper malaise affecting this once respected business group. As Ms Dalal says, the Tata Group is not squeaky clean as the snow.

It is, but there is much more in the original book, including Ketan Parekh, JPC Fiasco & Global Trust Bank scams. Also you may or may not know how the Scam1992 exposure led to market reforms in India.

The intention of the advertisement is surely more for business reasons than for national integrity...but calling it a "curated controversy" isn't little too much ? (despite HUL example proving the possibility)
It is curated. The advertisers are perfectly aware of what they are doing, that ad is no accident. There were a series of such curated ads during the festival season by various companies, not only Tata companies. They all certainly grabbed eyeballs but churned up reactions and controversies which could so easily go spinning out of control into violence in the streets and harm to innocent people. Given this hazard, it’s important to track such media creations and find sources, who amplified them and who gained and who got hurt.
After watching Scam 1992, I became your admirer. Here MNC's are Targetting only Majoritarian from Red Lebel ad to Titan they have shown Muslims as religious, peace loving and innocent and that too in a time where there are lot of Love Jihad cases.

Excellent. Curated controversies exposed, as is the facade of Tata charity vs business entity, greatly needed at this juncture. JRD made enormous contributions to the nation, but those days of Tata led by JED are gone.
Do you think that Ratan Tata had approved that controversial advertising? Think sensible, 24 hours would not be sufficient for him to just make decisions over his vast establishments.
Punish the script writer and publisher, not the company. It's employees blunder. Find out who are those pigs in Tata establishments.

Interesting question. If she did also, it is not unethical. Shorting is not an unethical practice. Further, it was not an insider information(II means information leaked from companies, she herself find out what was happening by investigation, which is not leaking information). Shorting keeps price in control of overvalued stocks, commodities, currencies, etc.

So well put, Sucheta. Wholeheartedly agree. I have a story to tell, as a businessman, where my business was destroyed by one of the oldest group's largest companies for not supporting corruption of the officials it had chosen to appoint for this business. One day, I shall tell the story, soon. :-) On the second point of "curated controversies", I have similar strong views that do not stand me in good stead in business.

Dear Madam, with all due respect, charitable trusts controlling businesses is nothing new. When we (the Government, because we elected them) are not restricting funding from the Gates foundation, then why point at someone like Tata, a reputed Indian Business House? Media should first clean up the media and then point at others.

There is a very large question to the whole position.Which ever, the social or conventional media, tries to shape the public discourse; there is some thing called as social capital which includes widely held social beliefs. No group owns the IPR for such beliefs i.e. patent or a trade mark. That way anybody can enter this realm and influence for commercial gain. For e.g. a lot or Punjabi cooking style is followed in Pakistan, but unless it is categorically identified as Indian cooking style and patented we with some trust or entity one cannot claim royalty. A similar case can be made out of the tanishq ad.
Well done. This is what I was telling everyone who spoke on the issue. Ratan tata image refurbishing through so vial media by using corporate resources is scandelous..ant time even ridiculous. I always felt that Rata tata is a great wealth destroyer and I am sure he would do everything to get Chandra out as the chela turns better than master.

All said and done, its a fact that despite them removing the ad campaign, the video has and is still receiving millions of views. All building their brand image as a company that promotes not just communal harmony through its ads but also rationalizes the demands of public uproar to pull it down!
All in all, a very successful marketing campaign!

Ma'am I totally agree with you that these ads are just another way of publicity but your worry was "what if they go wrong and lead to loss of property and life". If a simple beautiful ad is able to stir such a controversy, should the corporate really be blamed? Even though the controversy was intended, the fact that people bought the controversy and subscribed to the buzz around brings us back to the grassroot problem
Corporates are using that room given by people to create controversies. Today, we can say that corporates are to be blamed to play such a stunt but isn't the room given by people the ultimate problem

my only view is te SUPRISE on the bahu's face.. ..she could have been NORMAL instead of acting taht the in law is doing a favour......like TANISHQ old ad based on re marriage where the rituals were as regular/normal like a first marraige and the suprsie came at the end. in this case too if everything was normal, as if happening in a regular hosuehold and the realisation it was happening in an inter religious house could have come at the end and left it there

Its a best discount brokerage as on date, hence people will open brokerage/DP account with for the purpose of trading. However it has over sized number of clients, due to which its system gets clogged and traders will losse the money, as we cant place orders. I have bought it to the notice of SEBI also, but all went into vain. Just by saying its technical errors, nothing can be done. Is it so simple for them to say like this and exit, what ever positions we made, were in good profit or at least not at loss. Due to such problem we are going into loss.
