Do you ever use frozen shrimp as bait?
I avoided using them for a long time because I thought they only caught catfish (and not gamefish).
But the other day we were fishing in tough conditions with our friend Capt. Mark "Hollywood" Johnson from FloridaKeysFunFishing.com and we ended up catching a slam plus a tarpon!
Here's the truth about using frozen shrimp: they're easy to use, easy to rig, cheap, readily available, and if you fish them right, you can catch tons of gamefish.
In this video, you'll learn how to rig and retrieve them to catch fewer catfish and more gamefish.
Enjoy!

Wet much appreciated. New to Salt water fishing… all of my “knowledge” of fishing has been basically wiped clean… 😂 look forward to these great videos!!!

Hello from deep south Texas South padre Island, TX area. Subbed to your channel awhile back and ran across this informative video. Good info will definitely try this technique next time I hit the bay. Thanks for all the info and tips you all share.
I have been using that rig with dead prawn for years here in Australia works extremely well I am glad you are using it now in bad weather to great weather i catch snapper, sweetlip, even Jacks, and perach with this rig works every time
Conditions look brutal. Nice work! Hell if I'm getting skunked I will try to catch a catfish just so I catch something. Lol
Good luck!
Born and raised in Florida. Was always tok catfish was trash fish here. It’s not Sail or hardhead wss both GOOD. Only only fresh tho don’t freeze
At 2:20 its always nice to have somebody bailing water out of boat while everybody else is fishing .

I’m in va as will and the fish go crazy for it 😂
Born on the Chesapeake we’ve got some of the best fishing in this country. Check out the chop tank river next time your up that that way. If you love crabs we have monsters also lol. Happy fishing!
I do this with a tenya. Works well!

Thank you for the video
You're welcome!
What size hook do you recommend and should it be weighted?
I wish you had these jigs with smaller hooks for sheepshead. Smallest on your site is 2/0.
Going to a campground in OC Maryland and they have a pier that goes to an inshore bay. I have frozen shrimp in the freezer. Taking them with me to try and get on some fish. What lb test line would you recommend? I have two rods with 12lb mono and one with 25lb mono.
Great question! Make sure to ask this over in the Community (www.saltstrong.com/) where the coaches spend their time.
I like your strategy but I use flat head jigs
Wow nice bros
The condition looks like Jacksonville, FL, most of the time.
tqvm bro for your sharing....
I can stop giving away my leftover live bait at the end of the day
Great info 👊🏾💥
Thanks!
What tool did you use to take the catfish off?
Do you use any weights?
it depends on the depth or structure that we are fishing. If there is a lot of structure on bottom, we might keep it suspended and/or rigged weedless.
Great tip!
Thanks!

How do you deal with fish stealing the bait? I even tried a smaller hook
Put a smaller amount on the hook and use Gamagatzu hooks small. The octupus. Then when the bobber goes down start railing hard to hook it in the lip. They re still gonna steal the bait 9 out of ten times. Get cooked shrimp thats frozen. Cut in to tiny pieces with a knife
Tilte said frozen shrimp i saw a fresh shrimp
It's called fresh frozen dead shrimp that was just dethawed 😂
What about putting salt on the shrimp?
Good
Thanks for watching!
Interesting technique. I can see how this would work. Thanks!
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment William!
an you tell me the advantage of taking the tail off ?
When you take the tail off the shrimp releases a scent that attracts fish
What size hook?
Literally said the same thing 4 times in a row in intro :)
Is this on like a Carolina rig or what?

Bait elastic!!! Use bait elastic!! Cheap as hell and it’s great
The shrimp falls off way too easily this way
Yeah boy... sometimes you gotta use the frozen...its a cruel world
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment!
@@Saltstrong Face it though, using shrimp live or frozen isnt all bad... if the fishing sucks we can eat our bait later...yum!
Un sacco di stupidate ai lo stesso con un piombo a palla 40g sopra un amo gambo lungo quello che fa la differenza e il gambero possibilmente un taigher per la compattezza delle sue carni
条海有鱼怎样都钓到,废话连篇
