Athene did everything before everybody else. Man was even the first person to get canceled.

There were very few people who lost money with the cryptocurrency. These people have made very specific trades that Athene didn't advice. He looked into even refunding that money but has gotten too much people trying to scam refund money that they decided not to.
He didn't decide to not pay out people randomly. The only one from the compound who didn't get any "pay out" literally robbed them after leaving so that's a strange argument.

I agree with what other people in this thread say. Which is why young people have this "secure the bag" attitude to their lives/careers. One day you blow up out of the blue, like the "m to the b" girl or the "OK boomer" girl, and you have a very limited about of time to convert it into money whichever way you can, and if you have no discernable talent, you'll join the 80-90% of ASMR girls who ended up opening Onlyfans accounts. Podcasting is relatively new and has given some people's careers the long tail (Kassem G, FPSR Russia etc.).

Asmon is a bit naive to think that a reddit ama does anything for their credibility, they litteraly had the ceo of save the children come on stream and confirm that he gets no cut of the donations and people still threw it around afterwards.

Asmon didn't even realize this, even after watching the video. He even suggested they bring in the CEO, which they did, as a way to disprove it. I guess they didn't underline that fact hard enough in their video.
I think it's hard to manage so many people in their house and they made some managerial mistakes with that, and that's why some people left and got hurt. But I don't for one secons believe Athene to be a scammer and the evidence supports this point of view.

When I was like 16 in highschool I was watching Athene videos before Twitch or even UA-cam honestly. And it was honestly the funniest thing I'd ever seen. For a while I really did think he was the greatest Paladin in the world.

Asmon even gave a good example when talking about people thinking that Izzy was just using him for clout, whatever Asmon says or however he is trying to disprove the theory makes no difference if people have already made up their minds.
They will only accept and view the evidence in a way that it supports their their position. It's like if a person who people view as "crazy" tries to disprove he isn't crazy. Part of Twitch's new policies for streamers is they can hire private firms to keep surveillance on you if you are a streamer and if they find anything even remotely offensive connected to you they can ban you for violating TOS. UA-cam hasn't gone that far yet, but you never know. If you see how much the government controls the internet in China for example, eventually that will be the same in the U.S., old internet freedom is dead
Chat may not have believed Asmon as he was saying it, but those truly were "the days" of WoW. WoW was at absolute peak popularity, and youtube was only in its infancy. That meant popular personalities like Athene were very few and far between, which is why most WoW players knew of him

I really like how asmon is always so down to earth, especially on these controversial topics.
And his down-to-earthness was used in the video to make it sound like he was directly defending Athene.

There were very few people who lost money with the cryptocurrency. These people have made very specific trades that Athene didn't advice. He looked into even refunding that money but has gotten too much people trying to scam refund money that they decided not to.

What Athene fails to understand is that good deeds won't simply wash away the bad ones. He believes that the cause justifies the means, which is probably the source of controversy. Just because he might ultimately have good intentions, it still isn't good enough of excuse to have immunity to criticism. His secretive, cult alike, ways of operating are only making it worse.
thing is, after all I heard about Asmongold I never watched his videos or streams. I was dumb enough to believe, without forming my own opinion, but about a year ago or so I gave it a chance, and little did I know that he would become one of my favorite content creators. I'm sorry for being judgmental at a start, but I am happy I ignored my thoughts and gave him a chance.

It's not a great way to be taken seriously if you just operate off of your own feelings and biases. My only knowledge of him is the "Destiny definitely lost this debate" memes so I would hate to assign him motive on that one, but without motive it comes across pretty poorly.

When I was like 14 Athene was the GM of my guild in Ultima Online, he made us sooo much money via PVP. He was always very down to earth and great at running the guild, people actually paid to transfer servers as they couldn't compete with our guild it was that effective. Later on played wow with him, but lost contact before he became famous via his videos. Some of the new stuff he has done does look very concerning/odd, but he was always very normal when out of character leading raids etc. When he quit UO he sold his ingame currency for like €17,000 and gave it all to his mum as he felt bad for gaming so much (game was quite dead by this point, if he sold up a year earlier he'd of made so much more). Honestly ran the guild like a business. Hard to tell if the new stuff is in character, or if he really has gone off the rails. I just knew he was extremely clever, great at getting the most out of people and had a lot of time for people.

People that accuse Athene of scamming/scraping seem to forget that he can literally print money through online poker, and he lives a very ''Asmon-esque'' lifestyle, no fancy cars, no big house, no drip. That is how he was able to give away all of his earnings from streaming. Now, I havent watched Athene in years so I dont know if he really lost his marbles over time, but I dont see him scamming people out of money.
