Im about to finally go to the new IMAX next week so im going through all these old IMAX videos. I only ever got to go once, for Titanic when it was the 100th anniversary of the sinking. I was actually terrified of the screen it was that big. It was such a unique space!
Goodnrss, I worked as a theatre projectionists (35mm) for 37 years, only heard of 70mm Imax but never seen it before now, Hats off to you that's a lot to deal with!!! Keep up the good work, thanks for the video. David
Watching this now in April 2023, I am so pleased I captured this amazing sequence. All gone now. When the new IMAX opens soon, it will be digital only. Oh and I can't believe 65,000 views! Just incredible. Thank you so much.
so very cool. i run 35mm at home so I can almost relate. it would be so great to be in that booth while its running. film travelling at 360 feet per minute compared to only 90 fpm for 35mm is a beautiful thing to watch.
nowadays, harddrive aka DCP modes of cinema distribution is seldom used or not used at all when it comes to digital, because, most are replaced by satellite distribution.
IMAX 70mm switched to CD/DVD for audio after years using the 35mm film system for audio shown. An then they started copying the audio from the disc to a hard drive and also used hard drives for distribution. I've seen the DVD used for Interstellar but I'm not sure what Dunkirk and Tenet used. They may have used a network download (satellite based) for those.
No, digital is not yet capable of matching the resolution of IMAX film. Until it can and does, IMAX is 15/70 film and nothing else, and any digital system bearing the IMAX name is a scam known as LieMAX.
yeah it might now matter if he gets the leader dirty. Also, there are PTR rollers that clean the film going through the projector AND the projector is cleaned before and after each showing.
After 7 years, I still enjoy watching this!

It will also be a much smaller screen. Lame
Truly sad that they aren't bringing it back at least as good as it was. Not even sure it will reclaim the World's Largest title.
@@TEDodd it wont be
I believe this is the 📽 projection booth that powers the worlds largest movie 🎦 screen 🎥 🎥!
You get to watch the movie while working??
The path of the film is insane. 😲

I think IMAX uses Hardisk as well as playing his film, like most films in general
I was thinking like that

Thank u for uplaoding
Super video like it
Nothing like imax hope to see James bond again in that big screen this time 3d
whos james bond
screen was demolished 7 years ago
I want to see Pokemon Detective Pikachu in IMAX 3D (2019).
Interesting video.
IMAX (15/70) 👍
IMAX Digital (2K) 👎
15/70 is the only IMAX. Anything else is LieMAX. At least, that will be the case until digital reaches a bare minimum of 8K.
why is the machinery so far apart and complicated??
NO worries
I believe he’s done this a few times…😂
Should be wearing cotton gloves!
The actual movie film is not being handled. There's a bunch of clear film called leader attached to the beginning of it, that's what he's threading.
