      The bike weighs 450. I weighed another 420 on top of that. I'm happy to say I have had no further tumbles. 👍🏻

    Absolutely a terrible feeling. Sucks to drop.
    But also gotta lift with the knees.

    Bummer, glad you are OK. On loose surfaces, the uphill brake never works, the only way to stop the bike going backwards there is the downhill brake, in this case the rear.

    • @TrekkieMoto
      @TrekkieMoto  3 роки тому +1

      I was actually using the rear brake, but it wasn't enough. I just got unlucky. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Wow, glad you and the bike weren't more damaged! That's never fun - looks like it just lost traction, stopped, and slid out from under you while backing itself down the hill!
    Also, I'm glad you were able to get it upright and presumably ride it home. Stay safe! I avoid gravel for the same reasons... except my current bike is 2x the weight, so I do not look forward to ever having to lift that!

    • @TrekkieMoto

      I put my feet down but they slid just as quickly as front wheel. Momentum + Inertia = Facepalm

    That was tough to watch - it looked like the bike just started to slide out from under you and down the hill.

    Buddy of mine went down on gravel while trying to slow himself down quickly. I try to avoid gravel at all costs, my bike is close to 700 lbs so I never want to have to lift that monster.

    • @TrekkieMoto
      @TrekkieMoto  3 роки тому

      I could barely lift what I had, let alone 700lbs. Eff that!

    I ride a lot of gravel. Cruiser and ADV. Once you get the hang of it, it gets easy. Also, that's not how you are supposed to pick up a bike! Your way is way harder. Check out a Motortrek video on it to see what I mean!

    • @TrekkieMoto
      @TrekkieMoto  2 роки тому

      I know you aren't supposed to pick up a bike that way, but unfortunately I have issues with my knees that prevented me from doing it the proper way.

      Nah, we're totally cool. I did not read your comment as being harsh.
      What I'd like to do is get a little bit of off-road riding experience so I can get used to having the wheels move around under me. I've done a lot of riding but it's always been under good conditions where I haven't really had to think about it.
