    I just wanted to add that, on the rare occasion that I personally have ketones, nothing brings my ketones down better than as much water as I can possibly stomach.
    Personally, I get very very nauseous (and feel absolutely HORRIBLE!) when my ketones are high, but I still try to drink as much water as possible. I absolutely hate everything about ketosis! It makes me feel like I’m dying & I know that sounds super dramatic, but when I feel like that, I can tell immediately that my ketones are high.
    Again, if this works for you, drink tons of water - if you can stomach it.
    I have actually forced myself to drink a couple quarts of water even if I throw up afterwards, I just keep it in my system as long as I possibly can, & even if I do throw up, it works & after I’m sick my stomach comes down & I’m then able to continue to drink as much water as possible.
    Just a little tip from someone who’s lived with it for 42 years.
    Peace & love everyone, we are all in this together!

    I’m always amazed how a brisk 15 minute walk can bring down a high blood sugar in a safe way as opposed to giving an insulin correction which can expose you to have a hypo. Hypo’s still might happen but I find exercise lowers BG and A1C x

    Hi Christel, I was diagnosed as adult onset type 1 about 10 years ago, when I was 50. I just started the Dexcom G6 about a month ago, as my sugars have become more difficult to manage (my very first CGM!). I'm very athletic, a runner, and so your UA-cam channel has been so perfect for me. I've learned so much from you in this past month since I found you. I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. You're an angel to share so much of your experiences and knowledge with us. Please keep up the good work and stay safe. Coleen in Portland Oregon (was born in Santa Monica - LOVE that city!) xoxo

      I was 67! Boyohboy, did that throw me for a loop! I was the Queen of Carbs and Gluten, making artisan breads and deserts all the time. As is often the case, my GP assumed I was type 2. After many months & constantly high numbers, I saw an endocrinologist who figured out I was Type 1. Finally I got a Dexcom & now my A1C is 6.1. I do NOT like having this disease! The constant monitoring, the struggles to get all my meds, the work battling my insurance company, the highs, the lows, the crap we have to carry around all the time… sorry! Everyone here is dealing with the same things! And I know I’m lucky to be alive and to have found Kristal (sp)!

    My glucose levels have come down and leveled off the past 2 weeks with a combo of daily excercise m-f and diet. Today I decided to skip the gym and had little food at all. All of a sudden by numbers started to spike and stayed that way for a while. Higher than they have been since my diet and excercise started 2 weeks ago. Very scary rise because I can't explain the cause.

    Hi Christel, good video, but my main problem is very low levels as low as 1.2 for no apparent reason I am type 1 for the last 32 years I do windsurfing and kite surfing and now trying to learn wing foiling but when I don't alow the correct insulin or food before exercise the only time I need to take my pen is if I,m going out for food

      Windsurfing, kite surfing, and wing foiling, that sounds FUN!
      If you constantly struggle with low blood sugar you might want to discuss your long-acting insulin with your medical team. If that dose is too high you'll have to eat constantly to keep up your numbers.

    Hi, I love your videos, they have helped me greatly, in 2020 I was diagnosed Type2 but then in 2022 I was then diagnosed Type1.5, the one that kicks in and out, anyway two questions I can ask you,
    1) Why when you test via the finger blood test your left & right fingers give different readings, right fingers give lower readings!!!
    2) We’re using all these methods to combat diabetes but the actual solution/problem is always there, why isn’t there surgery for this!!
    3) How on earth do you reverse diabetes is it truly possible??
    Now I’m doing an experiment with sugar products I consume the 30 day challenge, day 7 apart from yesterday I broke the rules I had sugary products but today I will continue, I’ve noticed I’m sleeping better, and all my readings are almost perfect 5.1 to 6.5, is this the way to go???
    Thanks 🙏🏻

      @DiabetesStrong  День тому

      Glad you find it helpful and that you're doing well!
      1) I'm not sure. I think it has something to do with how blood moves around in the body
      2) Pancreatic transplants are doable but there are very few organs available, you'll have to be on immunosuppressants to prevent the body from rejecting the organ and most need further surgery
      3) To this day there is no cure (or way to reverse) type 1 and type 1.5 diabetes. They are both autoimmune diseases and while scientists are working on a cure none has been found so far

      Thank you for you reply, interesting stuff, we’re all still learning and how to treat this diabetes, we have to be smart and stay a step ahead at all times, seeing is believing, and must be FDA Approved, there are tests and experiments happening now, maybe one day we will be free👍🏻
      Thanks for the videos, keep them coming, 👍🏻

    When you talk about high blood sugar are you talking about fasting glucose or after you have eaten the wrong thing? Thanks.

    • @DiabetesStrong
      @DiabetesStrong  Рік тому

      High blood sugar can happen at different times. For some (who still have an insulin production) it might only be after meals but for others, it can also be fasting

  • @rfrancoi
    @rfrancoi Рік тому +2

    I thought that having Ketones is beneficial (such as mental clarity), which is a result of Intermittent Fasting (IF). Is that not correct?

    • @DiabetesStrong
      @DiabetesStrong  Рік тому +2

      Great question. Nutritional ketones and ketones from lack of enough insulin are two different things. You measure them the same way, so it can be hard to tell them apart. Nutritional ketones can be developed if you eat a very low-carb diet and generally these are perfectly safe. Developing ketones from the body not having enough insulin present is dangerous, but is only really relevant if you live with insulin-dependent diabetes

      Morning blood sugar rises are normal, but you need to figure out if it's a long-acting or rapid-acting solution. If you slowly rise overnight, your long-acting might be off. But if you see the rise after waking up in the morning you might need rapid-acting insulin to cover the hormone surge. I would bring it up with your doctor and discuss the best option for you

    So if you have Type 2, so no insulin, does that mean that exercise won't raise your blood sugar? Just Type 2?

    • @DiabetesStrong
      @DiabetesStrong  2 роки тому +2

      Anaerobic exercise can raise blood sugars during the workout, even for people living with type 2 who do not use insulin. But it still has the potential of increasing insulin sensitivity after, so it’s still beneficial. Cardio, like walking, can help reduce blood sugars for people living with any type of diabetes
