    Corrections:
    - The manual of A Link to the Past contains the story of the Imprisoning War, not the opening crawl
    - They are Hover Boots, not Feather Boots
    - Zelda tells Link to open the Door of Time, not pull the Master Sword
    - One can read Ruto's Message in a Bottle to get a useful hint

During your complaints, you mentioned at 37:53 that you needed to stun Big Octo with the Boomerang, and then run all the way around and strike.
But to make it easier, if you have good timing, you can throw the Boomerang once it starts to spin and break out of the stun, causing it to get stunned again, and revealing the weakspot itself right in front of you.

Actually Princess Ruto´s Bottle Message can be read by using it and give´s one an Hint to show it to King Zora:
      ( 4:43 ua-cam.com/video/b-48c3uMJz4/v-deo.html )
Also the Spirit Temple can be completed before the Shadow Temple, the Hover Boot´s aren´t needed there at all. The Quicksand in the Haunted Wasteland can alternativly crossed either by using the Longshot on a wooden Box or by running Backwards over it. There are Part´s in the Spirit Temple that are easier to do with the help of the Hover Boot´s but are not impossible without them. And the Lens of Truth can be acquired as soon as after beating the Forest Temple, and there is an Old Man in Kakariko (in the Future Time Period) who give´s a hint about it that implies that it can be found in the Well.

this is less of a factual error and more of a conceptual one: NES Zelda linearity vs. OoT linearity
conveniently didn't mention that dungeons 6 and 8 are also open to the player without entering any other dungeons
the bow in 1 is required to beat 6 - but you could still get the magic wand, which synergizes with the magic book in 8 (might as well grab the magic key while you're there and have a free run through all the other levels - especially useful for level 9)
the Letter, Magical Shield, Bait, Arrows, Blue Candle, Blue Ring and a few keys can all be bought in shops before entering any dungeons
oh and the White Sword requires only 5 Hearts (which doesn't require completing a dungeon)
yes, not every order of completion would be equally fun, but the idea is that it's an adventure: you don't google the optimal order; you play, discover and find your own order.

will say though ocarina of time is nowhere near as linear as the later 3D games (BOTW excepted, of course); especially if you put the main storyline to the side and focus on the massive amount of side content
and it's probably equally as linear as zeldas 2 through 4...
I dont think linearity is the gripe people have with OoT exactly, it's more... tedium. Make of that what you will, EgoRaptor's video probably puts it better than I could.

My man. I have a ton of nostalgia for this game, simply hearing the music brings me back to that time, and simultaneously triggering many fond memories playing this when it was new. I will always, always love this game, but can definitely admit to the faults of pacing, sidequest design, etc.
Your channel deserves so much more recognition. I adore analytical reviews like this, especially for games I'm personally attached to.
LttP, Link's Awakening and OoT are still the only Zelda games I've 100%ed more than once, so honestly I love them all equally, but for different reasons. OoT just got me through some tough times in my life, and much like Link in the game, I experienced it during my formative years, so it really struck a chord with me.
Love your content, sorry this was such a mismanaged comment.

I think a lot of it has to do with that we had a lot more patience as a kid playing the game. Trying to play it as an adult with all this running around makes it feel tedious, but when we were a kid with all the time in the world, it didn't matter. Unfortunately now due to how current day games are completely handheld, kids now would not have patience either. That has taken the fun out of most newer games.

    • @ZipplyZane
      @ZipplyZane 5 років тому

And games at that time were written more for kids. Now, since they have to appeal to adults, too, they tend to have a core experience that is shorter for those pressed for time, but a lot of side stuff to do for those who have more time.

    • @dandre3K
      @dandre3K 5 років тому +2

True and false. Yes kids are more forgiving of alot of things, that's what made us kids. We have to recgonize what worked and discard the rest. Games rightfully should be held to a higher standard.

Some of the problems the N64 version has were fixed in the 3DS remake, like the text speed is faster and mashing B properly can actually make it instant, but I have to agree that even there the game feels clunky at times. It added a hint system to "fix" parts of the game being obscure, but to me that just makes it even more clear that it's aged to a degree.

Ocarina has flaws for sure, but what I feel a lot of people often forget is just has special this game was...and how special games have the potential to be, given the mentality of the player and how the player composes them self before and while playing
Ocarina of Time was one of the first 3D adventures we have ever seen
At the time this game was magical. No one cared about the “design” of the game, they were utterly absorbed by the magic of the game.
We were about to embark on an epic, grand adventure in a magical fantasy world with swords, castles and monsters
OOT was a whimsical experience. Just pure soul oozed from the game.
At the time we have really never seen anything like this and so the impact it had on us was overwhelming. Imagine living your whole life be a prisoner in a dark basement for a large portion of your life....and then you are set free...not only are you in absolute awe and pure joy from seeing the sky and all the people and eating good food, feeing the wind and hearing the birds
But also imagine you are from a rich family and inherit their wealth, and you have he whole world at your feet now
That’s what it was like to experience Ocarina when it released....its almost indescribable
The music and the world....running around exploring progressing through your adventure as you experience this vast magical world where nobody knows all the secrets, mysteries and everything the game had to offer....
We didn’t know what was around each corner and through each door...we had no idea....so our imaginations went wild...just an absolutely incredible experience
Immersion like this was never felt before, a magical experience of PURE adventure and wonder was never experienced before (only Mario 64 could compare)
The absolute magic this game had is often forgotten when people go back to the game and just analyze the mechanics and the design....their is usefulness in doing that, but to forget all perspectives and experiences isn’t in our best interest
So many things critics say are wrong about this game, we just didn’t care about *at all*
We were on our own immersive, soulful, magical adventure where everywhere and everything was wonderful and awesome in the original meanings of the words (full of wonder and awe) going through this vast journey of the huge overworld (at the time, where we had no idea what we would find in which direction and how far it went) going through these deep dangerous dungeons full of monsters and fights that gripped us (and gripped us is an understatement) a huge epic story of going through time and saving he world from this evil man bent on having power over it....
Such an immersive, magical, whimsical, joy exuding adventure and story the likes of which we had never seen at the time....a true *Legend*

Ok......this review, although I don’t agree everything said, was exactly what I hoped it’d be...an in-depth open and honest perspective on the different aspects of the gameplay...I don’t think the game is perfect either but the charm associated with it puts it in a class of its own. It’s memorable and witty in its way...it keeps you engaged and above all else is FUN!! Even though I grew up in the 90s, I ended up playing ocarina of Time much later. I played through it and beat it for the first time during the 2000s and it was on the original cartridge that has the Arabic music in the fire temple.

It's not the text speed, it's the default to hear it again, and then they troll you by changing it from a yes or a no from conversation to conversation.

    • @ZipplyZane
      @ZipplyZane 5 років тому +1

I'd say it's also the text speed. There just isn't any reason to not have allowed the player to press a button to speed it up if they read faster. Yes, timing it to fit how fast people talk is nice, if you want it. But if you don't, or the text is something you've seen before, it just gets annoying.

@@XanderVJ Like the exposition dumping of the owl, you can skip through alot of it and have to be careful to not accidentally say yes to hear it again.
And so much exposition from Shiek/ Zelda, Deku Tree, that after the 20th time playing the game, you really really wish you could just skip it, at least with some of the triforce stuff it plays on its own so you can set the controller down and get a drink or something.
But why is the game so inconsistent about what text you can / can't skip or speed through, like why not have included an option to let a player fully skip a conversation?

The given information in the dialogue is easy to comprehend, the progression if opening the goron city doors & receiving the tunic is supposed to have some sort of puzzle, (which is bombing the last remaining goron in goron city, that wasn't held hostage). Which shouldn't be a complaint being given the idea that goron city is almost deserted, and having to rely on the last goron for exploring the mountain past goron city. And also you can actually read the message in the bottle from princess ruto. Other than those small/unnecessary complaints, great review.

I grew up with this game, all my friends love and cherish it as one of the best games they've ever played. I personally enjoyed the game, however I always saw it as a very flawed game. Only now that people younger than my generation are talking about this game has it been shown on a wider scale that this "masterpiece" is less perfect than others make it out to be.
I will always cherish my memories with this game, but that does not mean it is critically untouchable.

I really liked your review, one can see that video games are your true passion. One thing I noticed upon watching analysis videos of N64 Zelda games is the fact, that virtually everyone thinks the dungeons are the best part of the games. When I played the game as a kid I loved exploring the overworld, going from A to B didn't feel like a chore to me but was the essence of the experience. When I was in a dungeon I just wanted to get out to continue exploring again. One could argue, that these games were the wrong ones for me then, but in fact I have very fond memories of playing Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask. This is also the reason why I can't understand the criticism of Hyrule Field being empty and boring.

I fail to see what's wrong with doing the diving minigame. Unless you just don't have the 20 Rupees, who wouldn't at least give it a try? I can see why they make you go do the Dampe thing before the first temple, to make sure you're familiar with how different the future is, though I feel it could have been handled better. I also don't see what's so weird about the Lens of Truth section. Unless I'm remembering wrong, you should have the relevant warp songs by that point and after 3 dungeons as a kid, then 3 dungeons as an adult, it's interesting to have to switch between the two for the final leg of the journey.
I agree about the camera and the finicky controls in the Virtual Console version though. Good video.

I started it the other month with the emulator on the Nvidia shield, completed as a kid also the game is amazing for its time and still great now I feel, basically there hasn't been a jump like from 2D to 3D since (and we can't exactly go 4D), unless you accept virtual Reality things and I haven't tired that (and its still 3D) but when the 1st VR games come out (like real games of GTA and in a whole world only in VR) they will be looked back in 20 years and seen flaws or changes that a future look back will find not great. There is literally only ever 1 period in time where these things change from 1 to the other and its always gonna produce the least tech looking back but most high tech as its coming out at the time and how a company manages that is gonna be tricky and the fact they done such a good job of this game back then when it was the High tech time was incredible and the team at nintendo are literally geniuses for some of the games and consoles they have produced and their innovativeness and joy and simpleness yet tricky games they create.
And the fact they still follow the formula is testament to its crew that worked on it.

eventually you get epona the horse and then you can use the ocarina to transport around, so it gets less tedious if you thought that. I personally didn't mind the exploring and was lots of weird side quests that I liked doing in it anyway.
I definitely recommend giving it another go just get an Xbox controller and a nvidia shield or play on the PC or if you even have the old console but def worth another look man. I did however find myself as an adult changing the speed on the emulator when running over the fields lol you can put it to 10x fasted and you get from A to B quickly even before any horses or ocarinas :)

Well the 94 metacritic score for the 3ds version was due to the fact that it was a remake. Remakes don't usually get as high of a score as the original, particularly when released years aparts. Good examples would be Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD and Majora's Mask 3D which all have a lower metacritic score than their original. Great video though! Can't wait for the next Zelda review

While it is considered a superior game, some review sites judge a remake based on how good of a "remake" it is. Hence, it tends to get a lower score than the actual game if it doesn't improve too much. That's my analysis anyway

First of all, thanks for disproving today's false narrative of the first Legend of Zelda being this overtly open-world game.
You were bothered by the fact that Ocarina of Time is sometimes too cryptic in communicating to the player what needs to be done in order to advance. Sure, we lack the time as adults running looking for clues endlessly like back when we were kids and teenagers but I always thought being lost/stuck for some time period was an intrinsic part of a Zelda game as the pay-off is usually quite big when you eventually do manage to figure it out.
As you didn't like this aspect in Ocarina of Time, it very well could be that you won't be too happy about Majora's Mask doing this on a more extreme level - I actually restarted that game three times in a span of multiple years until I finally managed to beat it because there were road blocks which for whatever reason I simply couldn't conquer (however this hasn't affected my opinion of the game in any way as I like it even more than Ocarina of Time).
At last, I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment on the camera issues. Back then though, Z-Targeting was a rather simple and elegant solution and IIRC, Ocarina of Time was even the first video game to feature a lock-on combat system.

As a kid I just accepted cryptic progression, limited lives, and poor enemy placement as part of the NES experience and what games were "supposed to be." However as mature I find myself questioning these elements and try to challenge my own preconceived notion of what a game is supposed to be.
Zelda 1 certainly has an open over-world, but I am still not sure this is compatible with the linear dungeon progression. If a player was truly allowed to tackle the dungeons in any order, and the enemies encountered changed as the player increased in health/weapons allowing for the difficulty to increase as the adventure wore on, perhaps I could consider it a non-linear adventure. But as-is, I just don't buy it. It is one of those things I try to challenge rather than accepting as a truth.

One thing I'll add.. I think things like the bottom of the well make total sense. It's a time travel game with very little actual mandatory time travel. If anything the tedious nature (It wasn't tedious when I was 9 playing it for the first time) of sections like that can be blamed on the tedious nature of changing time periods and not the task itself. The temple of time and master sword mechanic limit the amount of time travel the developers could play with.

I've played OoT more times than I could count both as a child and an adult. So there is no way for me to be completely unbiased. It was one of the like . . . first ten games I ever played. Not the first, but pretty early in my gaming life.
That said yeah. Ocarina of Time is one of those games I recognize that in time, barring a major re-imagining remake happening, will be more looked at in terms of what it did for gaming than anything else. I still think it's a great game, maybe not a masterpiece, but still. It'll always have a ever changing place in my top 3 or so Zelda titles. How can it not when, much like SM64, the end credits music alone evokes so much nostalgia and emotion from me. When to this day the entire final dungeon, the battles with Ganondorf/Ganon, and the escape through the castle remains one of my favorite final sections in the series.
Despite its flaws, which plenty could probably be attributed to growing pains, Nintendo still did far better than it had any right to on its first foray into 3D with Zelda. It's a game, as you admitted, sticks with you and that's not a bad thing. As a child I'd have given the game a 10/10. Today I'd begrudgingly admit it is more like a 8/10.

5:55 The "point" you are missing is that the the player can strike out in any direction, motivated by nothing but their own curiosity, and the odds of finding something they can do is high. And there are 672 possible dungeon orders. OoT is still amazing, but it makes the design choice to funnel the player towards (usually) one location at a time, so their motivation comes from the story instead of curiosity. It's not worse, but it IS different. Striking out on your own in Hyrule field mostly leads to roadblocks.

As far as I can tell, dual analog control DID NOT exist when Ocarina came out. The N64 was already ahead of the pack by even having the single stick. The original PSX didn't even have analog inputs, and when the Dualshock came out later on few games supported analog control.

    • @implantgames

The PlayStation Dual Shock controller debuted in Japan in November 1997 and in the US in May 1998. I don't know when "dual analog" control become mainstream though. As for the camera, Sonic Adventure came out in 1998 and utilized the triggers to pan the camera left or right while the player raced around. It lacked vertical aiming obviously, but camera control while moving was something developers were tinkering with at the time.

I played Ocarina of Time for the first time when I was 16 on the Wii U virtual console. I had no nostalgia for the game, but I was completely hooked. It quickly became my favorite game of all time, and I finished my play through on March 2nd, 2017, the day before BotW arrived at my House. It only took one hour into BotW to realize that OoT had been overtaken. I love adventure games, but I love exploring and going off the beaten path doing things you’re not supposed to be doing right now. I like to make challenges for myself. BotW was the first game to truly scratch that itch for me in a satisfying way.

While Ocarina of Time is still my favourite Zelda, Breath of the Wild definitely did change how I approach the series as a whole. My first experience of Twilight Princess took just over 40 hours to complete (which each subsequent playthrough scratching roughly 5 hours off the mark) but after BotW, It took me nearly 15 hours before I even reached Hyrule Field because I wanted to explore every single facet of every map, and talk to each individual after every important event. It really enhanced the atmosphere and I can easily see myself spending at least 120 hours playing the game before I eventually finish this playthrough.
I just started Ocarina of Time again (this time, the Master Quest to breathe some new life into the game as I've never tried it before) and I've already spent over 45 minutes exploring the Kokiri Forest and Lost Woods before even getting the sword and shield (going back through the woods again after acquiring both), whereas I usually would have already left the forest by that time mark. If BotW's sequel can funnel in some vastly-improved combat, item management, UI elements, and most of all, the woven story experience as a whole without ruining what made the first game so special, I think it would easily become my second favourite of the series, just shy of how much I will always love OoT for its experience as well as adhering to classic tropes and such.

I might mention the sidequests for the tunics are not really necessary to obtain them since they can also be purchased in the correct shops. The sidequests just let you get them for free. Personally I feel while OOT might feel dated in some aspects its importance in gaming history cannot be denied and should be respected. As of now the 3DS remake is pretty much the definitive way to enjoy OOT as it actually did address several issues with the original most notably with the water temple. Also you do get access to a fast travel system sorta via the warp songs you learn before entering each temple

    • @implantgames
      @implantgames  5 років тому

They can be purchased as Young Link from the start, but not Adult Link. The Water Tunic shop door is hiding behind the red barriers which need to be melted. But as Kind Zora is frozen as well, a player encounters him first when exiting the Ice Cavern. That of course assumes the player didn't warp to the Water Temple entrance as this song is taught right after the Ice Cavern... The Goron Tunic is the same, the shop doesn't open until the rolling Goron is bombed, meaning the Goron Tunic is obtained right before the shop opens. I don't believe the game communicates one can travel back to the present until after these two events occur. Either when the Windmill guy says "if I ever see that Ocarina kid again" or when it is practically spelled out in the Spirit Temple.

Some of the wonkiness and wondering around I can attribute to being an N64 RPG. In fact, it's issues are almost endearing to me, there isn't another game quite like it.
I never thought Ocarina of Time was GOAT, but I was always happy with keeping Ocarina of Time held in such regard because, if not Ocarina, I wouldn't know WHAT game should be considered GOAT. (Well, maybe Majora's Mask N64, which is what you should do an analysis of next ;) )

    • @bredincaptivity4692

Very few games from that generation of consoles have aged well. It's a product of the game developers not quite knowing how to make a polished game in 3D yet. Things like the camera and combat had to be figured out step by step, and some of those steps were stumbles. Add to that they were working on some of the first machines to be designed for producing 3D games, and yeah, shit's gonna look and play a little rough in spots. Same holds true for the 8 bit era, though maybe not quite to the same extent. I feel games from these time periods need context in order to be fully appreciated nowadays (with some exceptions, of course). In a vacuum, Ocarina is not necessarily a more well made game or more enjoyable experience than, say, Wind Waker. In fact, I'd personally say Wind Waker is a better game all other things being equal. Thing is, all other things are not equal. Ocarina of Time blew people away at the time for a reason. We'd never seen anything even remotely like it before. It and Mario 64 were the first times we could collectively say "Oh, ok. THAT'S how you move a game character through 3D space effectively. I was worried all 3D games were gonna suck for a while there." That's why Ocarina is always a front runner for best of all time and Wind Waker isn't.

My 1.0 gold OOT N64 cart in excellent condition with the manual still saves and I honestly believe the game will *still* be regarded as one of the best games of all time in 20 more years, even beyond. I see your points towards the flaws, most notably the camera and off-shaded cryptic puzzles that are not highlighted to the player for one this is an issue others will agree with perfect notice. I think one other issues that would lead to criticism is the fact that Nintendo oddly censored green blood to red in later versions of the game. I generally agree with your points though i would like to ask a question. where you ever bothered by the hidden spider skulls? I think most players overshot this opportunity on their adventure, including myself. they were obtusely hidden more than you could imagine overall and generally weren't really worthwhile spending hours to locate. I look forward to your future reviews!
in all honesty, I feel the game is best played a second time. Although this may highlight some of the floors with the dungeon it does allow the player to explore and question their last moves, but that is still unlikely for the average gamer to memorise leading to more overdrawn hours of exploration than necessary to complete the quest. overall, I'm mixed and I understand it's flaws that the developers worked, I still believe Ocarina of time is one of the best games created. Maybe that is the nostalgia talking and I'm biased? It is hard to say for certain in all honesty. Musically, the game is a masterpiece.

The only way I play this is the master quest on the gamecube because of the added difficulty, but even that gets tedious most of the time after so many playthroughs, I don't think it's the best game ever created and didn't think it was back then when it came out, in fact, Majora's mask did a better job with less, but even that game I do not consider the best neither. Yes musically is a masterpiece, but then take that away, what you are left with is not pleasant to play

Their most common claim is that they "butchered" them and preferred the older ones because "you could kill them in different ways", when in reality as you say "not all of these combinations ensure a quality experience". Is having the option to stand outside of bounds and cheese a boss with arrows or bombs really a better experience? Is mashing the b-button to win the fight in 10 seconds really that much better?

The issue I have with the changed boss battles in MM3D isn't really a loss in variety of ways to kill them, it's that the new ways of killing them are (mostly) less interesting or fun.
Odolwa is fun to fight with a sword on N64, but on 3DS you have to fly over him, drop a nut, then slash at his eye. There's no resistance from Odolwa and no enjoyment to be gained from the fight.
I prefer Goht in 64 over 3D simoly because his lack of an eyeball weakness means after making him collapse you can carry in hitting him while rolling if you're skilled enough, instead of having to stop, turn into normal Link, shoot arrows, then go back to being a Goron. There's just less flow to the fight.
Gyorg in 3D is fine, he's a little annoying but other than that I don't have many complaints.
Twinmold though... in MM3D he's just the worst boss fight ever. If you're unlucky his second phase can be unkillable, since his hit counter resets to 0 after burrowing and he requires too many hits from a slow Giant Link with a tiny range of attack.

A Link to the Past was when Zelda became more linear. The only true non linear games would be the first one and Breath of the Wild. A Link Between Worlds and Adventure of Link were a mix of the two, but still limited in some ways

I struggled so much with this game on the 3DS. I really enjoyed it but I struggled with figuring out what to do next. The lens of truth and the iron boots threw me off as a strong memory. Fun game but I got confused. BOTW is the only Zelda game I finished without a walk through. Side quests I look up from time to time.

That's why they implemented a hint system. They knew that the modern style is to give more hints if you need it.
I'd expect them to add a hint system to the new Link's Awakening remake, but I remember they already had one. Still, I suspect ol' Ulrira will have more hints in the Switch version. And even more Owl statues.

Great review and trust me this is not a knock, but this game has been done to death in such a manner... would LOVE to see this done for Majora's Mask, or Spirit Tracks, or Windwaker..

Younger players may not like Ocarina or Link to the Past or the original as much as I do, but I also don't give two flying farts in a windstorm about what they think. Ain't gonna change what I enjoy anymore than I can change what they enjoy.

I... have some thoughts on this one.
21:00 I am afraid that is wrong. You can read Ruto's Letter. It specifically tells you where she is, the circumstance and "not to tell her father". I don't know what went wrong with your game, but you can read the message once you get that bottle.
22:00 The game wants you to use the Hookshot and get a feel for it in Kakariko with the rooftops and the like, of course you are going to have trek through Hyrule Field, its the main hub area. Also you act as if there is no reason to go through Kokiri Forest or Lost Woods when you are shown the effect of Ganon's control over the world with the idyllic forest being taken over by monsters and the Sacred Forest Meadow besieged by Moblins. It's storytelling without cutscenes and it is a highlight of the game, you could also cut through Goron City to get to the Lost Woods from Kakariko since you know that is your next destination.
23:45 It was to give purpose to the time-switch mechanic. Both of the last two temples were meant to play on the requirement of Past/Future. I will agree that the markers shouldn't be flashing at this point for the Gerudo Wasteland though.
24:30 Eh? There is one NPC in both of the childhood haunts of Goron City and Zora's Domain. The large Goron as a kid should remind the player that Gorons can be bombed out of that state and thereby they get the information of what happened in Goron City, besides you nigh need to do this to gain access to the rest of Death Mountain Crater. Zora's Domain is different in that you get Blue Fire from the mini-dungeon you were just in. Players will remember this before going into the Ice Cavern and save one for King Zora, thereby getting the Zora Tunic before it becomes mandatory.
24:50 I have to admit, I never knew that the arrow was pointing to the next location in the Trade Sequence, wow.
I agree with you that the combat is likely the weakest point of the game in regards to modern takes, but I do not agree that Ocarina of Time is not a masterpiece. For point where people get stuck there is Navi and, something you never mentioned because you may not have known, is Saria's Song which helps explain more of the cryptic sections. When I pick up a game I try to explore every nook and cranny and remember what was said and where. I don't think gamers of today have changed that much in that respect.
Overall it was a fine review, but I do not agree with your final verdict by any stretch.

"of course you are going to have trek through Hyrule Field, its the main hub area"
ideally it wouldn't feel like a slog because there would be more things in it
but I imagine the idea was the field feels massive, and then you get epona + warp songs + nayru's love to travel more freely once you're bored of the field
can't really expect better for its time... twilight princess's hyrule field, on the other hand, was unforgivably bland and empty imo

It also just reminds you that the time switch mechanic is a thing. Sure, you're told about it, but you tend to think of it as "Oh, I may have left something behind, and need to go back."
But this establishes that it really is time travel, and that you may want to do it more often. No, it isn't Oracle of Ages with time travel, but it is useful.
I also agree about the travel being to show off the ruined world of the future.

@@lounowell4171 True, but it's no more than a minute from Kakariko to Kokiri Forest where there will be a true noticeable change, and as I said before you can just go to Goron City and make your way to the Lost Woods from there.
