    You are 100% correct on DO NOT chase the Meta. Since I gave that up I'm so much happier when I play. I have a simple but effective Warden now that I love playing. I do simple but effective (SBE) now. I've gotten more done with that toon than I ever got from any Meta build.

    Number one train your mount from day one! There is nothing worse than slogging along on the mount slower than you can actually run. I do speed first, after that split stamina and carry capacity, but that's up to you. Always nice to get those extra 60 slots for more inventory too.

    • @greorbowlfinder7078
      @greorbowlfinder7078 Рік тому

      Agreed!! I train speed to 20 first so having a horse actually makes a difference. Then I train carrying capacity to 60. That's the first 80 days. Then I go back and finish speed and stamina last. It takes 6 months to fully level your horse!!!

    • @VargasLOK
      @VargasLOK Рік тому +3

      If you so the imperial city PvP quest you get 3 in the assault skill tree, the first passive gives you 30 percent mount speed everywhere. So from day 1 you could start with inventory instead since you’ll start with 30% speed

    • @kutaru1389
      @kutaru1389 Рік тому +1

      on that note: at level 10, go to cyrodiil. you DO NOT have to do ANY pvp. just do the intro tutorial. It takes about 5 min. this will level your skill line enough to get the passive 30% horse speed increase. invest 1 point and voila, instant 30% riding speed. This makes a huge difference, especially when you just start out and are still very slow.

    • @annb7902
      @annb7902 Рік тому

      Agree on the Cyro boost. It is easy to get and does make a huge difference too to help speed the process.

    An interesting question you sort of raised, but did not answer. If you use your Armory to make a crafting build (neat idea, btw), have the skill points allocated to increase the number of items you can be simultaneously researching, have your research queue full (also very good advice - your queue should always be full, unless you're down to Nirhnhoned), and then remove those extra research slots by swapping builds, what happens to the extra items being researched? I'm guessing that they just stay put until finished, kind of like crafting bag inventory after the ESO Plus free trial runs out.

    • @abbyg
      @abbyg 6 місяців тому

      It does stay put! The “fraction” will change from 3/3 to 1/1 but you’ll still be able to see three items being researched when you scroll through.

    Point 5: Our main goal in the game should be to have fun. Playing by the numbers only will kill the player. Take your time and enjoy the game. This what I tell new players all the time when they ask about the build. Meta is like a cook book -- it will gives you ideas, but the players will add the spice to make it their own. Also, look at the meta: some meta are made by people who like in your face action and others like range. What type of play style does the player like? Some players get blind side by the pretty numbers and they do not see if the meta even fit their play style or not. Understand your own build 1st then go get ideas -- not the other way around. Your build is the core; meta is just adding spice (ideas) to help your core build. Meta should never be your own core.

    This is the first video I've properly listened to and taken a lot from. I always try to chase the meta but never had fun. And try to look up builds My main is an argonian nightblade because I like the whole shadowscale element, but I know argonians aren't meant to be dps so I try and make it a tank but don't enjoy it. I'm just gonna stick to my original build of shadowacale and enjoy the game how I want to. Great video!

    I am new to eso, I would say 3 weeks in. I got it when it was free through epic store. I've leveled Necro, Warden, Scorc, and DK to 30-45. Following builds from HackTheMinotuar, LuckyGhost, Xynode, and more recently skinnycheeks and nefas. I enjoy they high depth explainations. I hated playing every single one besides the warden from Hack, the Necro from Xynode, and now the arcanist which became my main and is cp level 280 following skinnycheeks. All the other builds I tried i just kept dying, or doing no damage. It was like I was playing a completely different build than the one they showcased.
    However,I had no issues with the arcanist build I was following, (it's incredible btw), but I wanted to try something new. I watched the tank video by Xynode, listened to nefas explaining skills, sets, passives, etc. I decided to tweak some things. Now I have a DPS/Tank hybrid with the arcanist, I feel immortal soloing world bosses, soloing some group dungeons, and even in pvp. Just today I was able to play Chaos Ball, I just stood in the middle holding the ball while both the enemy teams were attacking me and couldn't kill me lol I got a quad kill and my other teammates just helped keep the amount of people attacking me down. I am having a blast playing a build I made, by just taking in information given by these other YT creators.
    My point here is that trying to copy a build that is being showcased by someone who has been playing for years and is very skilled doesn't work well for someone new to the game as he mentioned in the video. I tried following Xynodes tank arcanist, I couldn't die, but I couldn't do damage. Following a DPS build by Hack I dealt a ton of damage but couldn't survive. By using a mixture of what worked for me from all the builds I was looking into I came up with my own and it's amazing for me.

      Keep one thing in mind. META means "Most Efficient Tactic Available". The biggest mistake people make is assuming META in one situation is the same as the next. Boss fights, group content, individual play Knowledge and Skill, solo, PvE or PvP. META changes for each in some way based off the "rules" of the actual game.

    The reason why many doesn't use the armory system, is probably that they don't change roles. That's at least the case for me. And shards are so incredibly easy to farm (just takes time), that getting enough skill points isn't a problem at all, at least if you have access to most of the zones.

    Mount and research. I leave my character at stable so I can up my mount first thing everyday. Research takes so long and is very worth it in passives and crafting. Another would just find a zone and do quests in it for a week. Get to know areas and explore. Have fun

    The armoury swapping would be even cooler except now the CP points are allocated to crafting/offense/defense you cant pull points out of crafting and put it into damage anymore, right? You could reallocate the points but you'd still be limited by the new CP setup!

    ESO is the only that I've played since Day 1 that I have not done completely. It is massive and there is so much to do. Scaling was the best idea ever. Constantly changing my builds was exhausting so I stopped doing that over a year ago. I don't believe I have a main. I alternate between my Warden, Necro and Dragonkight. In Greymoor I mostly played my vampire but it's just not fun anymore. Right now I'm on my Warden.

    Something I just remembered.
    I do watch build vids.
    And, the...staleness of the builds, due to meta chasing, gets old.
    They may post a vid on unkillable yadda-yadda, immortal yadda-yadda.
    But, it's always the same weapon and armor.
    It's not really different.
    Yeah, class abilities are different.
    But, each class basically has the same abilities.
    I try putting peculiar limitations on my builds.
    Pick a character from literary fantasy and try to make that person.
    With same limitations.
    I have a character based on Michael Moorcock's anti-hero Elric of Melniboné.
    He was a sorcer of considerable skill.
    A top notch swordsman.
    But, due to his albinoism he was weak.
    Tended to counter his physical weakness with "potions and sorcery".
    So, low stam. Use potions. And, find abilities that boost stam.
    Another...difficult build has been my Conan character.
    In Robert E. Howard's novels, Conan is distrustful of magic and sorcery.
    So, I focus mostly on the weapon abilities.
    And, a few Fighters Guild skills and armor skills.
    And, any ability that could be a "natual" skill/trait. Nothing that "reeks of the foulness of sorcery".
    And, he's a Dragonknight. So, no breathing fire, sprouting wings, or a lot of Dragonknight abilities. Dragonknight Standard is acceptable.
    But, no Ardent Flame abilities.
    No Draconic Power or Earthen Heart.
    I have had to use a few, just to unlock some specific passives.
    But, I do agree with the have fun with it view.
    Though, it may be even more challenging to go anti-meta.

    I think Way More newbie-friendly videos are needed There are a lot of convoluted systems that can be overwhelming to new players and not just overwhelming but without knowledge of these systems makes the game seems way harder than it should be.
    For example, the sticker book, A new player not knowing how that works can be frustrating.
    OH, AND THE GOD awful time sink of researching items can seriously be offputting as well as the inventory space, without knowing how to increase it with just in-game means.

      It's cheaper to make yourself and you don't have to rely on others crafting for you.

      That's actually impressive. I hope you use TTC to find the pieces you need at least.
