50 Atari ST Games you might have missed

- Worked quite some time on this list. Hope everyone who is watching this will find at least a few ST games he never heard about before. I was personally very surprised about the huge amount of games I never knewed about. If you think there is an important game missing, let me know.

You included Jumpin' Jackson, Esprit, No Second Prize, Oids, Vroom & Spherical. Those (along with Zany Golf, Sundog & Wizball, not on your list) define my time with the Atari ST. Of course Dungeon Master was in there too, but NOBODY missed that one, so I didn't expect to see it.
What I did not expect to see was Mousetrap!!! That one was included as part of a software bundle when I bought my ST, and I've never seen it mentioned anywhere. Great little nothing of a budget title that I played to death.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane, I've played every single one of them (except Stone Age...that one's unfamiliar).
Mission Elevator and Cracked were awesome! I converted an old Atari Trak-Ball to work on the ST and it was the best way to play Cracked. The number of levels in Mouse Trap was insane. There was no way to actually play them all without a cheat.
So pleased to see both my favourite ST games on this list - Captain Dynamo and Mousetrap. I wish I could find these to play on PC.
Captain Dyname is awesome for sure. And Mousetrap a kult game.
Enjoyed. Amiga owner here, though I did buy a second-hand ST just to play Oids, which never got converted to the Amiga. (There is now an 'emulated' version, but it needs a powerful Amiga).
Really good selection. Love Metro Cross, Loopz, Mouse Trap, Stone Age, Battleship, Crack'ed, Jumping Jack Son and many others.
Great video, surprised by a number of games I'd not heard of before. Quartz in particular looks amazing.

Now this is a nice video if there ever was one. Not the average "hidden gems" blablabla and then it's Defender of the Crown and Wrath of the Demon. Great job here sir.
Mousetrap was one of my favourites and I remember playing metroid-cross and venus along with a few others. I couldn't remember playing rod land, but as soon as I heard the sound it came flooding back. What great memories.

thank you. Captain Dynamo was one of the first games I found during my "research". It is indeed technically great. Awesome gfx and the music is also above average.
Now that's an excellent list right there. Really good mix. Just wanna throw out the terribly named Violator and it's sister game Super Stuntman. Games that maybe some of the best shmups on the ST and no one talks about them.Oh and thanks for Esprit. I'd completely missed that one until now. Keep up the good work.
Great that you liked it, thanks. Violator is indeed a nice game. Esprit was one of the games I already played 30 Years ago, one of the best monochrome games and very stylish.

Wow so impressed by the graphics on many of these games, I'm used to Trantor, Technocop and Northstar type graphics. Also thanks for keeping the original audio. I hate videos that dub over the sound with some crappy music.
"Major Motion" missing here... quite the addictive game with very unique, but engaging mouse controls...
I had a fair number of these games back in my ST days, although there's also a few I don't recognize. I used to play the heck out of Vroom and Venus the Flytrap!
Cant quite imagine how many hours of sweat and hard work that the poor coders and artists put into making these games. Ah, those where the days! :)

I used to love Crystal Castles... thanks! An old game I liked was "JAMES POND" about a fish.
Crystal Castle is one of the games I added because I played it myself back in the days and it was not "very" popular. Liked it a lot.
@@svendaennart : I had bought it in a box in a store for next to nothing. It was fun. I loved Moon Patrol.
I kept trying to take on Mission Elevator but probably never even made it through one third of the floors. Still, loved playing it. I also fondly remember Joust. My favourite Atari ST games aren't in the video, but I assume that's normal because these are games "you might have missed". My top three were Gods, Asterix and Xenon 2.
Gods and Xenon 2 were my favourites too though I only had a demo of Gods, probably from the cover of ST Format, I seem to remember playing it over and over though. Xenon 2 had great intro music and the weapon power ups were great as well. Turrican 2 was also a blast.

No surprise I missed most of these..... all platformers.... yuk. The ST line was capable of so much more.
I loved my Atari ST, but I really missed the sound from the Commodore 64 which I still sometimes powered up, later I upgraded to an Amiga.
I confirm that I missed all of them... Except Metro-Cross (and not Metroid-Cross...) and Vroom!

Rodland was an absolutely awesome game.

So many nice looking games with cozy graphics! :D Makes me wanna code something right away. Let's turn off the 3D-printer and start the falcon instead... The falcon is always on my desk, but mostly only plays SNDs and SIDs nowadays. Would be cool to code a new game with cute graphics again, though it would probably be just another started project that never gets finished ;-)

Of this list I only played Rock'n Roll 11:52. Very recommended.

I hoped for some esclusive ST games. All the interestingly looking games in this video can be played better on the Amiga .. and some, like Mission Elevator are meant to be played on the C64 for my taste. What about the good ST games that the others don't have?

Nice selection. And those who complain about missed games here - did not get the point. This is not top list. I must admit that I know all this games, actually pretty well. Because did adaptations of them for running from modern storage - well about 95% of it. Reminded me about Realms . To do :-) Important game missing ? Well, that's really very subjective. But I can not resist: Dungeon Master :-) Ahh, is there someone not knowing that game ? If yes, own me a beer ;-)

The ST was a great game machine. Too bad some of the software was so hard to find in the US “back in the day”.

This must be emulator footage of the gameplay as my Atari ST doesn't look this good graphics wise?
Much of this games are optimised for the STE. But you are right, I used several emulators for playing/recording the games. However, this is not changing the graphics at all (as far as I know).

I had ST and Amiga back in 80s.
I found in 99% of games ST was just as good as Amiga.
Most Amiga games just had better music.
The Amiga games that truly exploited the chipset came across more as unplayable demos than actual games.
Black Crypt on Amiga was an exception with its Extra HB colour mode and great sound.
In my view a lot of bad games and only a couple are decent or good. I like cute games, i hate ugly gothic shoot games or meaningless sprite games.
Sorry to hear that. My goal was to show a selection of unpopular/unknown games wich could be interesting for the viewers. Of course, some of this games are not too great, but thats probably one reason why they are unknown :D
@@svendaennart No need to be sorry, i misunderstood your purpose. Besides which games one likes is subjective. I'd say remembering from my 1990's days, 60% of game are junk, 30% are worthwile to play 3 or 4 times no more. 5% are allright to keep longer and only 5% are good.
