Kinahan Gang: How does a Dublin Street Gang go so far? | The Tonight Show

- Опубліковано 13 лип 2024
- Ciara Doherty is joined by Damian English TD, Aengus O Snodaigh TD and Criminologist Tina O'Connor to discuss how a street gang from Dublin can rise to the level as the Camorra, Los Zeta's and the Yakuza mafias.
Damian English applauds An Garda Síochána and the Irish Authorities for getting us to a point where the Kinahan Gang is on the US radar. He tells Ciara there has been up to 79 or 80 convictions of the Kinahan Gang already.
He believes the Kinahan Gang will be caught.
Ciara asks if the process has taken too long.
Damian states that the Kinahan Gang is a global organisation. The crime group is now estimated to have assets in excess of €1 billion and relies on a network spanning three continents to run its drug distribution operation. Damian believes the Irish people should be proud of An Garda Síochána.
Aengus O Snodaigh has seen the impact of the gang in his community. He tells Claire he has heard of families putting themselves into huge debt to pay drug debts, or shootings and killings. He recalls there was a period when there was a shooting every week. He states those who were selling Kinahan drugs are still there today.
Ciara asks Criminologist Trina O'Connor if the US Sanctions act as a deterrent to those getting involved in organised crime today.
Trina says there is a dual-status involved for those involved in drug dealing. She says some are addicts and have gotten involved in debts to their own dealers.
She says we need a "restorative intervention" for those individuals to support them in their addiction and to move them away from criminality.

The Irish media are explaining how Ireland is "punching above it's weight".

A lot of communities at a local level have been making a great stand all over Ireland
Well said Regards Eire32

Congratulations to these communities for their children and grandchildren.
Guards on TV acting big lads, why have you allowed this to happen for decades and done nothing, absolutely nothing, its took the states to step in, Ireland's approach to crime is pathetic, no consequence s, victims treated worse than criminals, embarrassing.
Of all the comments yours hits the nail on the head, your comment is the only one 100% truthful. Eire32
@@patkearney9320 thank you for the reply, I'm from the north but I've family in the south, working, professional people who have had their goods stole by a certain group of people and told that's how it is, think the north and south have anxiety about each other but from what I hear(tell me if I'm wrong), work hard, pay crazy taxes, never own anything and have no rights
Great comment.
@@rizzledizzle3443 Your not wrong and never forget that, there's folk who see kindness as weakness. I truly believe the system is primed in the scumbags favour. In the 80s PIRA helped rid the inner city of drug dealers who openly in front of police sold their drugs to addict's. I was 17 and I remember it clearly. No matter how you feel about PIRA they stopped it. Then the Garda stepped in. We need people to stand together. Regards Eire32
Maybe cuz not everyone’s a snitch and I’m glad that’s the case 😂😂😂
Interesting trick to go from never having been convicted to the most wanted! That’s like 0 to 60 in 0 seconds!
But Billy Joe Saunders and Ben Davison say he's just a normal bloke who likes his boxing? Surely this must be some sort of conspiracy? Marvin Herbert speaks really highly of him too. And Marv is as honest and genuine as they come.

We have to take a little bit of pride that a local gang could get to the top of the ladder in all fairness 💚
We good at something 😅
Nah man. Go win a big soccer game or something and you can be proud. Actually the Irish donate more to charity per person than any country in the world and they should put that in the headlines. Fair play!

The Kinahans were never a street gang tho.
Oliver bond ???
@@richardmcgonigle1160 What about Oliver Bond
@@dontfeedthetroll294 the kinahans were never a street gang ?
@@richardmcgonigle1160 Yeah and what does that have to do with the Bond. The actual cartel never dealt in the Bond, it was only some of the lower members and DK when they were teenagers and it wasn't even DK that was the head so they weren't known as the Kinahan cartel yet as even Christy was still small time back time. By the time they became the actual KCOCG or Cartel, they were already international but just not to the extent that they did reach. I did a lot of work with them and others back then, and lived in the area. I'd be in the bond at least 5 times a day

Extradition to an American Supermax facility is way worse than death boi😫😫😫 !
What does he mean by relief like
Hoping for relief??? What does that fool think will happen? It will stop?? No someone else will eventually step in,there too much money to be made and there's always going to be an appetite for drugs in Ireland🤷🏻♂️
100%, this. But it's not just drugs in Ireland, the demand for narcotics is global, and even if the Kinahan gang is eradicated, they will be replaced in minutes.
The problem isn't with the Kinahan gang, it's the policy of prohibition that creates these gangs. Hard to know how to solve it, as we're never going to see drug legalisation in our lifetimes, so this pointless cycle will continue indefinitely. Anyone who thinks the drug problems anywhere will disappear if the Kinahan gang are dismantled are deluded.
Drugs is the only crime with proper earnings for little effort, meaning drugs are the only game in town. With bent cops it's not easy to walk away from such money.
Ireland is only a small part of their operation. Europe is where they are importing.
So the best strategy is to make drug users scared. No users = no sales.
@@kevindonnelly9811 How do you propose to do that?
Drugs will allways be sold
It's only a gang is not a Mafia like the Camorra or Cosa Nostra it's different
They’re bigger than the Camorra. Daniel is head of the super cartel of Europe. He’s the last man standing.
The only one who was bigger in the supercartel it's was the camorrista Rafaelle Imperiale. He was in the drug business and was bigger before all these guys. The Scampia war in Naples in the 2000s was because him. The Camorra was way more bigger than the Kinahan's or Taghi's organizations.
The Kinahan organization is already finished. The Camorra will never end
They will love the fact that have built up to most wanted !!!
They not richer than the American mafia
Knock, knock, Daniel....
Excuses excuses .
Giving me power vibes
They're still not as big as the EU mafia
The are not a mafia but will soon run the world as the ten horns
the real criminals are the irish government, world economic forum and the eu. This is a side show, there's a gang already waiting to step in, the war on drugs will never be won
Flutes in suits.....
Professional thieves.

I don't know how much of what we hear r read is true but y is Ireland use in the s c court when it's is not recognized by any other European countries Chapo Guzman had a jury is it not ur right in Ireland to be judged by 12of your peers
While trying to decipher your incoherent text, you get judged by 12 if you plead not guilty. If you plead guilty, there is no trial by jury. That includes Ireland.
@@KittySofttpaws the new court bypassed the jury . Criminal court
Ireland is such a dangerous country that they can suspend your right to a trial by jury if the Irish state declares you to be too dangerous
