Valco V Hull 12 Foot Aluminum To Bass Boat Conversion

- I was given this 1977 Valco V-Hull 12 foot aluminum boat with a nice trailer for free; and it came with a 2001 Tohatsu 18HP 4 stroke. I completely restored it from inside out. This is not a 'how to' video, but it's how I did mine only. I have never done such a project like this before but thanks to Tiny Boat Nation (TBNation) and many other UA-camrs.
For the supporting beams, I started out with 2x3s but end up with 2 galvanize studs that were just laying around the house. These reduces the weight and they were easier to work with. Although, I did bolted some 2x3s under for weight support and they held up nicely.
If you put your heart into something, along with some commitment and dedications, you will be proud of the end result.
Thank you for watching, and may the Lord bless you.
Nice build. Great fish 👍😃
Came out really nice 👍
Thanks for sharing. I like your boat, and like your mindset even more. Good for you my friend.
Well done! Very nice build.
Boat is awesome
You did a good job. I just picked up my first boat a few weeks ago. It’s not perfect but it works and gets me and my daughter out on the water. All that matters is that you enjoy your time on it.
You right, whether you have a $20,000.00 or $1,000.00 boat... the more expensive boat doesn't make the fish bite. It's getting out on the water and enjoying it, is what counts.
Thanks for the video. It is an inspiration I just got a 14 ft vhull I am starting with. If I had to wait to afford a “proper” bass boat I would never go fishing.
You right... a 12ft or 14ft will catch fish just like a $30,000.00 bass boat.
Awesome, sick boat I just made one very similar but mine is a 16 ft and the deck is huge and I love it
I am making more upgrades. Will update on another video soon.
Please feel free to message me for any questions.
Looks great , awesome job 👍
I love this video! I’ve probably watched it 10 times in the last year! Thanks for sharing! Great job!
Thank you so much and God bless!
Awesome build, looks great! That things gotta fly with that 18HP on the back!
Nice job buddy.
Very nice looking build.
I’m getting ready to start my build on a 14foot Lowe I just bought. I can’t wait to get it out on the water myself.
Thanks man... I too am wanted to build a 14-16ft jon boat myself but haven't found any that fits my budget just yet. Good luck with your project and let me know/see when you're done with yours..
Awesome build man 🤘 clean and simple
Looks great, one thing, hope you put a nonconductive washer between the head of the SS screws and the aluminum otherwise you will get dissimilar metal corrosion
Well done Bruce looks great, looks very neat and tidy.
I did similar thing to a 1990 14` Savage hull, and yes still changing things lol one day I`ll step up and paint it !
You did an AWESOME job. andf you are not in debt 30k. Will catch just as many fish. Very nice boat.
The outcome was very nice well done
What a nice job you did
You did a beautiful job, I am looking to get the exact 1977 valco soon and yours will be an inspiration for me to do the same.
Thanks... Let me know if you need any assistant. I'll be glad to give tips.
bro, that is a sick looking boat nicely done
im picking up a 12 footer soon too.. thumbs up
Awesome build guys... Just gotta make memories now. Good luck and stay safe brothers. Looking forward to see more videos soon. You got yourself a new sub👊👍
picking up my 12ft vull today!
Nice vid!!
I still work on my 12" ...😂😂... I'm like you just can't afford 30k bad ass boat... I bought my few hundred , clean her up, but I did buy a new 6hp Suzuki motor for her... can't wait to bring her back to the lake this summer.... 👍👍👍
Thank you, we may not fly on the water surface nor we tournament fish... as long as we're able to get to some tough spots and catch a few fish. Good luck with your build. God bless!
Nice job man!! Doing the same to my 14ft vhaul can you share how you rigged up electrical briefly talked about the plate but looks like you did something else?? Very curious!!
I ordered a circuit switch board from Amazon that's already preconnected on the back. I just ran one battery to the circuit board and then from there; one button to the navigation light, one to the fishfinder, one to the interior dashligh, and one to the bilge pump. I hope this help.
Well done u dont see many valcos they had nice wide beams for a 12 footer i bet its pretty stable
Thank you... stability is good, but I wish it was a 14fter.
Good clean efficient build. Like how you kept the deck low for added stability. Never used Rusteoleum how is it holding up? That Tohatsu is a great motor it will last forever. Just got another aluminium rig, gonna start working on it soon. Thanks for the comments you posted on my channel and I enjoyed your video.
Mic, thanks for the encouragement. The paint still looks good and shiny but only time can tell. Yeah, this motor is a beast and in excellent shape... maybe one day I will build a 14-15ft jon boat and swap this motor on it. Thanks n God bless!
What did you put as the flooring? 11:27
Plywood and indoor/outdoor carpet.
what did you use to make the deck blueprint?
I used a large cardboard... If it's not big enough to cover the whole deck, you tape a few pieces together.
Nice boat. You did a good job I’m currently working on mine. Hope to be done in a few weeks
Update me your working progress... and feel free to ask for any tips if needed. Good luck!
Nice
You need to learn how to fish
Show me then...
Do you have a leak problem with the boat?....thinking about to get a Valco also.
Hi Rick, I was told there was/were no leakage before I received the boat. Although, I still used JB Weld for marine and sealed any rivet I think might leak and also all along the riveted seem lines throughout the boat. Works very well as of now as I have taken it out fishing couple times for a whole day with no evidence of any water so far... but again, only time can tell. Thanks for asking.
How stable is it?
With two guys on a calm day, we can carefully moved around with ease. Maybe one day soon, I will upgrade to a 14-15ft jon boat.
