I actually cheered when you got the guns kill 😄 The Scooter is the perfect Bluefor addition to Enigma’s CW and fits in nicely. A great little all rounder
I fall in love with this thing the more I fly it and learn how to fight with it. Strong little bird and you can drop full flaps, pull back hard and turn quick. Really digging it…great vid again!
Nice 👍🏻 Alright, you’ve convinced me to take the skyhawk seriously and learn it properly. Looking at the details, I keep forgetting its a free community mod. Very impressive 👌
Visibility to the rear is a bit dodgy, then there’s the front windshield structure salvaged from parts left over from the Brooklyn Bridge hampering forward view. Otherwise, they used Skyhawks as adversary aircraft in training for a reason. One thing to look at is fuel load. Maximum combat radius is listed as 1,160 miles, presumably with drop tanks but also a bomb load. Thrust of the engine is listed at 8,500 lbf, dry weight of the aircraft is 9,854 lbs, so the lighter you can fly the better. My thought would be to carry minimal fuel in the main tanks plus drop tanks and rockets or bombs (some kind of balance between those and Sidewinders). If you can attack ground targets with capable CAP support or minimal interference, so much the better. If you have to dogfight, ditching the air-to-ground and drop tanks would leave you with better acceleration and maneuverability for the dogfight.
To be fair, the visibility is on par with roughly everything else from it's era... Mig19/21, the F-4, heck even the F-14 from a decade later all give you teeny little forward facing keyholes to look thru... As far as DCS Cold War goes only the F-5 has what could be considered somewhat 'modern' forward visibility. I haven't played the A-4 much in multiplayer, but in my time with it offline, I'd guess it's probably the best pure dogfighter available to bluefor on ECW for intermediate pilots. If running only with internal fuel and a pair of AIM-9s, it seems to be much more forgiving with energy retention than the F-5 although with less outright nose authority in a pinch.. I'm sure most seasoned F-5 / Mig-21 vets would eat it's lunch... but both of those are much less forgiving aircraft to be truly effective... both bleed energy like mad if you aren't careful / skilled / experienced / etc.
Short answer is practice... It's something I'm still working on. But the best way I've come across is to try to get into the habit of checking around you, or at least your six after certain actions. Like each time you fire a missile, check six. Each time you get a splash, check six. Each time you drop tanks, reverse a turn, check your fuel etc. One nice thing about the new EWR system is that you could get into the habit of checking your surroundings each time you get an update there. That will be every 30 seconds. At first you have to put thought into it each time. Eventually it will become second nature
18:49 That was me making a cameo in the Fishbed :D

@13:00. Never get involved in a land war in Asia….and never get into a flat scissors with an A-4

man what a thrilling fight in third sortie! Great job flying the jet
Cheers!
The Fishbed that ejected got hit by AAA - it was in the killfeed
A-4 is a fun little bird, ridic good for BFM.
Great video! If I ever dare to get into DCS, I will probably choose this module.
Price is right! (Free)
It has everything you want in a cold war fighter appart from afterburners
Nice 👍🏻

Hands down one of the best free mods I have seen yet.

Just finished watching the whole video, your situational awareness is just 👌👌.
Any tips on how to improve SA?

The Shrikes are so wishy washy. I've only been hitting targets at less than 50%
Yeah. I know if the radar stops tracking, the strike goes dumb. I need to play with them more to get my head around them
25% hit rate as a matter of fact :P
i am flying this for air to air but its damn slow…
i flying phantom too its fast and cant see a thing
Yeah, they kinda are two ends of the spectrum. But A-4 yeah, you can't chase stuff down, but most things won't run from you
Can your friend go 3 sentences without saying fuck.. Holy hell
