Hey all, just a head up! This was recorded early during our reaction journey in February when our recording setup was still progressing and we were dealing with some latency issues. This is why we did not have two separate headphone outputs (which we have now and will have on 95% of our reaction videos already recorded and ready to be uploaded!)
That is Alan's wife in the video, and his daughters, as well. This song is biographical, if you will. He and his wife went through a really bad stretch at one point, and their marriage almost ended. But they came together, and vowed that their relationship was important enough to save, and they are still together today. Alan Jackson is one of the good guys, as we say in the South, he's a good ole boy!
And Denise wrote a book about their separation that Alan encouraged her to write it. It's called "It's All About Him" and the Him is God and Alan wrote 2 songs that was on DVD with the book.
There's some good old boys that were born from fathers and mothers that were born in this house but we're raised in the north and we are some good old boys as well but no make no difference if you're born in the South or the north we are all Americans me myself I care about freedom and democracy and I will never vote for a republican ever and that makes me a good old boy
what are you bringing politics in here I am from as far north as you can get in the USA and just because Alan Jackson is from the south its his life to tell.......@@lloydholland9522
Ser you need to make an older couples react channel. I would much rather watch a couple that have been together for 20+ years react to songs like this.
@@kingofopossums I do not under stand. My wife and I are in our late seventies and have 52 years of marriage we have lived all of what is being sang about.
I hear ya. I’m 66 and married over 40 years and none of it easy. The older you get the more people you lose. In just this last year I lost my only 2 best friends, my nephew and even pets. Yet a couple months ago my daughter had her first kid, a little girl and my daughter became a totally better person.
My all-time favorite Alan Jackson song is the one he wrote, immediately after 9-11..."Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning." He performed it for the first time, (live,) at the CMA Awards show, a few months after 9-11. If you check it out, bring tissues. It really makes you reflect on what the world used to be, and what it desperately needs to return to.
I believe the genius of Alan Jackson who by the way wrote the vast majority of his songs. He writes songs that are simple and personal to him but that we can all relate to.
At my oldest daughter's wedding, I made a special request to the DJ. He played this sing for me. I danced with my wife to this, she was crying on my shoulder by the end of it. That was 7 years ago. This December, we'll renew our vows after 30yrs. And this song will played.
Amazing how music can be interpreted different ways. My dad and uncles chose this song for my grandmas funeral as my grandpa was also dying. They chose it since they had been through the ringer together for 50 some odd years. I think of the day at the church the last time I saw her almost 20 years ago, and I think of my current relationship with the mother of my daughter, as we still are going through the ringer and love is dying.
She was holding back tears. Great reaction. This is their life together. Stay together. Through everything. 17 years with my wife and going strong. Blessings.
This makes me look back at my life with my wife and all we went through the good times the hard times loosing our parents but then our kids having the grandkids and the circle of life goes on with your own family it just plays like a movie in my mind.
Alan is such a great songwriter and performer so I love a lot of what he does but what’s so special about this song to me is how it doesn’t candy coat the struggles people often go through. No one said marriage and raising kids is easy but man is it worth it! The song mentions how the start was hard and how life threw them some curves, which happens. Also, how they’ll break each other’s hearts and hopefully bend but not break the marriage. How having kids can teach valuable lessons to the parents who have to let go of so much of themselves and put the kids first which often brings the parents closer even though the job of raising kids is one of the hardest yet most rewarding things they’ll ever do. It also talks about how our perceptions and values change as life moves on and how ultimately we’d do it all again, the struggles, the hurt, the broken trust, the rebuilt trust, the joy, and the love. It’s a masterpiece and now that I've been married for 20 years and have two wonderful kids this song means so much more to me. My favorite songs by the icon Alan Jackson are Remember When, Livin’ on Love, Where Were You, Small Town Southern Man, I’ll Try, Here in the Real World, Drive, She’s Got the Rhythm, The Older I Get, So You Don't Have to Love Me Anymore, Monday Morning Church, and I Can't Do That Anymore (recorded by Faith Hill).
This is a fantastic song. One of his best. He had many which made it hard to hear that he is retiring from performing. Not many performers can bring me to tears. Alan Jackson didn't very often but two songs, this one and The Greatest Is Love... - also known as Where were you when the world 🌎 ... The memorial anthem to the victims 😢 and survivors of September 11, 2001. Remember when is hitting my wife and I both hard today. My wife has saw both of her parents pass away in the past decade. Me, on the other hand, buried my biological father in 2008 then, just last year, my stepdad passed away. Sadly all of them battled debilitating illnesses. None were from natural causes. Love the song and you two for sharing your love for it 😍. We needed it today 😊
Alan Jackson is a great American singer & songwriter who blended traditional honky-tonk & mainstream country pop sounds. He has so many hits such as "Don't Rock The Jukebox", "Here In The Real World", "Wanted", "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow", "I'd Love You All Over Again", "Someday", "Dallas", "Love's Got A Hold On You", "Midnight In Montgomery", "She's Got The Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)", "Tonight I Climbed The Wall", "Mercury Blues", "(Who Says) You Can't Have It All", "Little Bitty", "There Goes", "Who's Cheatin' Who", "I'll Go On Loving You", "Chattahoochee" etc.
you guys have a ways to go to understanding country music. there is no hidden meaning. it's all right there in front of you. just listen to the words. i like you guys
This song is about their lives. They had trouble early in his career & split for a short while, then came back together & have been married over 40 years. Love the clips of his family. If you have not seen it, you must see his song he did in the first days after 9/11. Friggin' amazing. It's mellow like this, however he also has soem great 'fun' music. "Five 'o'clock somewhere' & 'Chattahoochee' are two great examples.
I love how he uses the mandolin so wonderfully in most of his videos...its just beautiful...just like his songs...wholesome family oriented songs about real life...about the life most of us secretly dream ours would or should be like...its a shame the world today no longer takes the time with things going at such a fast pace to take time to enjoy and notice....things that would make a difference in the world are being erased...things we should take time for like family and simple moral values....maybe all of us should start thinking about all of this on a daily basis instead of everything bad.
Alan Jackson is pure country and country tradition in song and life. He is 64 years old.. stands 6' 4" and winner of multiple awards including 6 CMA, inducted in the Grand Ole Opry, and Hollywood Walk Fame. Alan Jackson was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease in 2011. "I have this neuropathy and neurological disease," said Jackson. "It's genetic that I inherited from my daddy. There's no cure for it, but it's been affecting me for years. Charcot-Marie-Tooth is a hereditary disorder that affects the nervous system, causing progressive loss of muscle tissue and loss of sensation in the arms and legs. Try Alan Jackson's song "Good Time"
A nighttime DJ on a soul station back in the day used to say, "Can ya dig it? If you can't dig it, you've got a hole in your soul and you don't eat fried chicken on Sunday". Ditto for country music.
He has a beautiful voice and TONS of hits!! He made an album Bc his momma kept asking him to. It’s called Precious Memories and it’s sold millions of copies!! “Chatahoochee” is a great one, a fun one to start with. “Where were you when the World stopped Turning”. Sooooo many. He’s legendary
Another couple of duos you should check out are THOMPSON SQUARE and SUGARLAND. Their song STAY is a simple bit emotion filled song that she wrote during a messy divorce and yiu can really see her strength in this song. She also did one solo as Jennifer Nettles called THAT GIRL which is actually a answer to the classic JOLENE by Dolly Parton.
Loved your reaction to this emotional song. If you've not heard Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance" you should react to it. The studio version that has her two daughters in it (in my opinion) is better than the videos of her performing it before a live audience.
Alan was not a gospel singer after his wife's father died she wanted to play his favorite gospel song at his funeral, he went to his studio and recorded it in 10 minutes. At his services Alan's mother begged him to do a gospel album, so he did. Denise actually had breast cancer, and later Alan had a cheating scandal, and he never spent another night away from home, flew back home every night. His first hit is called Wanted but listen to Where were you when the world stopped turning.
Welcome to country music. Great tunes with great stories performed by great artists. "Where were you when the World Stopped Turning"' is another Alan Jackson tear jerker.
Dutchcoors I'm Alans age and have followed his career since the early 80's. Alan Jackson wrote this song based on "real life" moments. The videos in the earlier life were of them, their children and their lives as they get older together. The words have meaning if you know their lives together. this verse - " life was changed, disassembled, rearranged We came together, fell apart and broke each other's hearts" I'm guessing is about Alans earlier infidelities, but the song has a fairy tale ending as they were only apart for a short time because of it. As none of us are sinless we must remember even famous people need the Lord's forgiveness and as you look at Alan and his wife's relationship one can only come to the conclusion, Alan was redeemed as they have put the old behind to only remember the good memories of life, children and all of their blessings. Denise Jackson his wife wrote a book in 97 " Its all about him" detailing the ups and downs in their marriage. She wrote - "The greatest blessings in my life have come out of my worst shattering - his betrayal and our separation were what led to this new, passionate love relationship with God and also led to us being able to have the kind of marriage that we both always wanted but just didn’t know how to have." In the song " the sounds of little feet, brought back the love we found trust Vowed we'd never give it up Remember when " is referring to the later years as they moved on watching their children grow up. The picture of the older couple celebrating their 50th was Alans grand-parents. He spoke about them and their parents often being brought up in the southern Gospel church. Alan is no doubt in the top 10 of all-time best country writers and entertainers. He's #1 in my book because of his morals and principles. God Bless you Alan Jackson, family and your walk ahead.
Sorry it’s ‘Where we’re you when world stop turning. That was the song dedicated to 911. Had it confused, but Alan Jackson is an amazing country singer, but I believe he passed away?
Jackson wrote the heartfelt song as a tribute to his wife, Denise, who he met in 1976 at a Dairy Queen in his hometown of Newman, Georgia. Twenty-four years after their marriage in 1979, the song serves as a reminder of the love they shared that day. That is his wife and kids in the video. You should also add to your list his "Where were you when the world stop turning"
Alan Jackson is an amazing songwriter with an awesome voice a true storyteller. You need to listen to Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning that he wrote the day that 9/11 happened. Listen to every word and you will be totally moved
A bit late to the party but this song ranks right up there with Dolly Parton and Ricky Van Shelton's "Rockin' Years" on my list of favorite songs about longevity in a relationship.
I wanted to share with you guys, Alan doesn’t play much anymore. His oldest daughter got engaged to be married and Alan having three daughters never had a son. He developed a very special friendship with his future son in-law, they fished hunted did a lot together. On the weekend of the wedding, friends and family were all arriving and the boy slipped and fell on the boat helping people on. He was rushed to a trama center and died thee days later from his injuries. The house he bought so they could fish still sits abandoned and he won’t go back. He became reclusive and his daughter even has since remarried, but he just has never accepted him and stays with his wife in Tennessee.
I have see Alan Jackson in concert many times and remember Leann Rimes when she was 13 or 14 singing Blue opening for him back in 96 or 97. You need to check out his song Where were You about 911.
Really enjoyed watching you two lately. Country music will seldom disappoint you. Great story telling! Another sole gripper is Brad paisley with don't take the girl. Try it! Peace from Northern Michigan.
He and his wife split about a year but got back together. He writes from the heart. React to "Drive" he remembers learning to drive from his step father.
if you like the story-telling songs, songs about family... he's got another great one called, "Drive". It's a song about some of his childhood memories and then him as a man trying to give his daughters similar happy memories. It's a more upbeat song than this one, but still a tear jerker due to his warm voice and incredible storytelling skills.
An old favorite. I play it every time I begin feeling like I'm in a rut in my relationships. The rumor is that he almost ruined his marriage years ago by hooking up with fan girls while he was out touring. I don't know how accurate that rumor is or how serious it might have been. They patched up their problems. I don't know if my wife could have forgiven me.
I've seen him in concert & he can really put one on! Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much longer he will be touring due to his battling a neurological condition (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease). I'm a retired Paramedic, but I'm not very familiar with this particular disease except that 2° to its effects on the motor & sensory nerves, it causes noticeable balance & gait problems - a pretty big issue while trying to perform on stage. He had a ton of hits both slow as well as up-tempo. I'm not sure if this song has been suggested yet, if not it has a very unique, cool video & it's a rocker; the title - "Good Time"

Listen to Where were you when the world stop turning! You won’t be disappointed and if you could react to it. It would be amazing

Alan Jackson ~ “Sissy’s Song” and “Drive” - I’d recommend the official videos on both.
One of the best 30th+ anniversary songs.
I have see Alan Jackson in concert many times and remember Leann Rimes when she was 13 or 14 singing Blue opening for him back in 96 or 97. You need to check out his song Where were You about 911.
Coming in a few weeks!
NO NOTHING ELSE. Its about him and his wife and their life together. 🎉❤
You need to react to George Straight and Alan Jackson Murder on Music Row ! About saving traditional country music!
Really enjoyed watching you two lately. Country music will seldom disappoint you. Great story telling! Another sole gripper is Brad paisley with don't take the girl. Try it! Peace from Northern Michigan.
Don't Take The Girl is done by Tim McGraw.
I think you may mean Tim McGraw. Not positive though
I'm sorry, your 100% correct. My apologies. Thanks!
Thanks for joining us & so glad you're enjoying it too!
Great reaction. Alan Jackson is sick now and his last (and probably final) performance was a few months ago on an award show, So sad.
I always cry when listening to this song😢
Brooks and Dunn “Believe”
He and his wife split about a year but got back together. He writes from the heart. React to "Drive" he remembers learning to drive from his step father.
Wait until the end to comment. Breaking it up kills the mood
You can't go wrong with any of his songs.
Peace, Love!!
You guys are fantastic love your reaction
Thank you!
So beautiful!
"Where were you when the world stop turning"
This is the way it should for better for worse what power to know someone inside and out
Just found you guys...Love your reactions....try James Blunt Monsters....Eva Cassidy Over the Rainbow....spread the music
Thx!
if you like the story-telling songs, songs about family... he's got another great one called, "Drive". It's a song about some of his childhood memories and then him as a man trying to give his daughters similar happy memories. It's a more upbeat song than this one, but still a tear jerker due to his warm voice and incredible storytelling skills.
Where were you when the world stopped turning, Its five o'clock somewhere Murder on Music row are my suggestions
Doesn’t everyone say remember when? I know I do as a father I say this to make kids all the time. This really puts life into perspective.
It’s about Life
Thanks!
Thank YOU John!
I love how much Alan Jackson uses a lot of steel guitar in most of his slower songs.
you both are wonderful love your content
New sub here. Excited to see Country reaction. Truth in life, musicianship, vocals and songwriting.
Excited to have you with us!
You should listen to the song he wrote in reaction to the 911 crisis, "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning".
Country music has more meaning than any other genre. Other than gospel, however most country singers perform gospel as well.
You young people are Fantastic!!!!
It goes by quick
Allen is 6 “5” so she is tall…..that is her and they have been together many years.
Listen to “Red on a Rose “by him as well. Very good song & album.
I'm not sure if this song has been suggested yet, if not it has a very unique, cool video & it's a rocker; the title - "Good Time"
This song never fails to put a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes.
Yep..!!
