When I finished Lost, I thought that it was be best TV Series I have ever seen. Then I finished Prison Break and it put the bar even higher. Later on, I have started to Breaking Bad and thought that I was wrong about them all and no show could ever beat Breaking Bad. By the very first episode of Shameless I got addicted to the show like I have never addicted to anything else. Now I am over 5th season, the show gave the season break and I feel like I lost one of my friends. Miss it like crazy. Long live Gallaghers!
I totally agree, changing the series you mention. I've lived the same process with The Sopranos, Downton Abbey, Mad Men, Girls, Modern Family, Glee, The West Wing, Scandal, Desperate Housewifes, and maney others... Very different shows, but all of them with something great. In different order, one was the best, and the it was beaten by another when I finished the first DVD season... Always. Except with SIX FEET UNDER. The best TV show I've never seen. If you have not watched it, please try! You will enjoy with Fisher's family life! :-)
Seriously? I was sooo obsessed with Lost too! And then and I got soooo obsessed with Shameless, and after that Breaking Bad! Looks like we have the same taste in tv shows, lol.. I tried to watch Prison Break but couldn't get past 10 episodes or so...
@parahund The show is about the daily life of a toilet and the hardship it experiences on a daily basis. As you can see many people come and go and that puts a lot of stress on a small toilet like that. The show goes in detail about how the toilet has to deal with it's fate, it's heartbreaking. I can only praise this show, if you want you can donate to the national toilet fund which keeps good ol' toilets like this happy and running for long time.
I live in Chicago and watched this show as it came out. Looking back it feels like I'm looking back at real people and real events that happened while living here. It was a part of my life without being a part of my life.
Gracias por subtítulos....veo gran cantidad de series, pero hay algo que agradezco de Shameless Us, 6 temporadas, ni un solo capítulo malo...saludos desde Chile
I live in the UK, I've watched all of Shameless UK, never believed the US version would even be half as good as the UK version. My oh my was I wrong. Both the versions are AMAZING. The US version has just surprised me so much, it's just so good! Please don't cancel either versions!
Sorry I Don't know the UK Version, but for me, this is the best tv show in this moment...I love this family...i like the message of this show, "Always can be happy, even in the mesery"...Gretting From Chile
urban dictionary: "Angst, often confused with anxiety, is a transcendent emotion in that it combines the unbearable anguish of life with the hopes of overcoming this seemingly impossible situation. Without the important element of hope, then the emotion is anxiety, not angst." simple explanation: stuff that hurts, bad!
The two shows are actually very different. They may be based on the same concept but they tackle it in very different ways. I love this show, I love the characters, I love the drama, I love the writing and I love the acting and all those people who condemn it for being a remake are just trying to jump on the 'I liked it before the Americans thought it was cool' bandwagon
@nailedurmum01 I'd also like to add that the show gets good ratings, so I think its really the tv/movie studios underestimating us. The show isn't simplified or ANY of the things you said, and lots of people love it. It's the studios that need to take more risks, and I think people here would adapt to it well.
What is the song playing in the background (episode 48 - 06/04/14 about 38 min in) when Fiona arrives home to a darkened house - the laundry is done - there's food in the fridge - she checks the kids(sleeping) - goes to her room, sits on the bed and thinks, then lays down. There is only a few lines but it's a beautiful song. I spent an hour searching You Tube using the lyrics with no luck Anyone know the name of the song or the singer
@Fubikon You said it man. I'm an American that has been a huge fan of the UK series since its first season. I was skeptical the US series would be any good. Damn, I was really wrong, cause it's far superior. It's not as simple as newer is better. The US series has better writing, better acting, better mood and atmosphere, better direction & most importantly much better casting. Both series are great though. If you can, watch them both. They are definitely different enough.
@NonOfficialEminem So what? The script was written by the guys in th UK, awesome, I have no problem giving them credit for that, its not the dialog that impresses me by itself, its the acting, The US version has much more impressive acting, production values, and emotional charge. Its like any script, you can have the best one in the world, but it doesn't matter who performed it first, it only matters who performed it best.
@firefightergoggie I'm middle class, but I grew up in a working class area, and have working class friends, and I plan on staying in a working/lower middle class area even once I find success. I think the people are more real, friendlier, overall help one another. its why my family stayed in the city while a lot of other ppl who went to college moved to the burbs. US version is better exactly because of what you said. I GET IT. I know where the characters are coming from.
@44Kkrozzy the UK and US version are directed by different people. uk version was mainly written by paul abbott. the us version was mainly written by john wells. ( ER & southland ) the actors have more chemistry and the characters in the us version are better. congrats on the idea but you and i both know the us version is better.... just enjoy watching it
@olexia07 I forgot about all those shows you listed. All are great. They make a few remakes, but so has the UK. We remade Law & Order. Two can play at this game!
@TheChrisRob I think they're on par. The US version to some ppl might be better simply because its newer. UK version was brilliant too. I think the US version is preferred by people who live in N. America because the characters are easy to relate, their situations are easier to relate to, etc. That is how I feel when I watch the US version. The UK version sometimes feels like well it uses british humor to me it doesn't have the grit that the US version has.
If youre an American or Canadian working class person, you'll get this series. We all know someone who is like any one of the cast members. But the UK version just doesnt hit the same notes, and it's not as well acted. Looking at Shameless (US) from the context of what Americans have come to expect from their own mainsteam TV, their version of Shameless is more likely to make an impact. Whereas if they seen the UK version, it could just be regarded as yet another low budget British production.
what people dont understand about us americans is if we had this show first and heard there was going to be a UK version we would want to watch it but every country hates us. Dont hate us cuz our presidents the peole here have done nothing this show is awesome
America: "Ohai non-Amerincas! You has a creative idea and you has a original stories? Give here!!! We takes it nao okay?! and makes it like it was ours own!"
@ThePiousBird most people in the US are mixed, even if they are claiming 100% black, 100% white, I'm pretty sure if you go back two or three generations you might have all white relatives and be black or you might have all black relatives and be white, and you might be black and have a mix of white and native ancestry. Americans mixed more than people like to admit. The racial categories are pretty superficial because of that fact.
Is there a person here from the uk that has actually seen both versions and understand that the uk version is for the uk and the us version is for the us? There have been remakes done everywhere, and im pretty sure that show's orginal was favored by the country it came; like the jerks from the uk who cant get a grip.
When I finished Lost, I thought that it was be best TV Series I have ever seen. Then I finished Prison Break and it put the bar even higher. Later on, I have started to Breaking Bad and thought that I was wrong about them all and no show could ever beat Breaking Bad.

You have to watch DEXTER then Chuck
i'll drink to that!!!
Seriously? I was sooo obsessed with Lost too! And then and I got soooo obsessed with Shameless, and after that Breaking Bad! Looks like we have the same taste in tv shows, lol.. I tried to watch Prison Break but couldn't get past 10 episodes or so...
Sammme
i don't know why but this bring so much happiness and i smile instantly when i hear this...
Best opening of any show, I think.
true dat!!!! and i love how instead of 'previously on' they do their own stuff
One of those intros you just don't skip, but watch and and sing along every time
just gotta say, holy shit this show is good. How real it is.
I live in Scotland and even I think US shameless is way better than the Uk
US things are better than UK things in general, idk why
You clearly dont live in Manchester!! Otherwise you'd understand how perfect Shameless UK was!
Lou'sEars not really, skins U.K. >>> skins US
@parahund The show is about the daily life of a toilet and the hardship it experiences on a daily basis. this gave me a chuckle, thank you, from 12 years in the future.
My favorite show ever!!
I live in Chicago and watched this show as it came out. Looking back it feels like I'm looking back at real people and real events that happened while living here. It was a part of my life without being a part of my life.

I live in the UK, I've watched all of Shameless UK, never believed the US version would even be half as good as the UK version.

Sorry I Don't know the UK Version, but for me, this is the best tv show in this moment...I love this family...i like the message of this show, "Always can be happy, even in the mesery"...Gretting From Chile
one of the best openings i've seen :)

My Netflix subscription has been cancled and now I miss my shameless so now I'm here.
its my life 😍😍😍
Can't beat the English series, that's what made Shameless special.
I saw like 4 seasons of UK version, but now I'm seeing the firt one of US version and I have to say that I love it soooo soo much than UK. Cheers!
Me encanta la serie 🖤
this is my new favorite song... :D
It will be sad to see it go
Feel the same way man!
Yeah I live on the Southside of Chicago and there are people that fit the characters almost exactly. I find this to be pretty realistic.
Wow karen was in the intro?
Way back before she was written out of the show.
The two shows are actually very different. They may be based on the same concept but they tackle it in very different ways. @UnicornSlayer26 totally agree! Same here never seen the UK version. But I LOVE this show so much!
Opening song: The High Strung - The Luck You Got :)
LOOOOOOL! Okay. Maybe not every show. And I am a fan of Shameless US.
PERFECT!
this intro is hilariously amazing. but I'm all for changing it in season 7
same
I wish that they will change only some scenes
X3NO PROTOTYP3 those too!
right, because debbie isnt a fucking 10 year old anymore she has her own baby.
And why is Jimmy Steve still in it? Does it mean he's coming back?
Shameless US is amazing, and so is 24 :)
I watched an entire season in one day...
So true!
It's a TV show, NOT a documentary.
this shit brings so many memories i wanna cry
US shameless feels more gritty. Also kinda reminds me of my childhood :P and my old neighborhood.
Debby keşke Liam ı tuvalet kağıdına sardığı anki gibi masum kalsaydı

The song is:
The High Strung - The Luck You Got.
I love it ,!
I'm 6 seasons in and I'm still trying to figure out which couple is fucking against the sink.
Spray Fection isn't it obvious that it's Fiona and Steve (Jimmy)
@milkcrysis
I can't agree with you more - Showtime knows what they're doing when they pick their series.
you're right. haha I never noticed it was him before. and its Kev. :)
I'm a huge fan of the US show.. really want to see the UK version too,, gonna hunt them down,,
oh this song is "the Luck You Got " by The High Strung
I will be faithfull to the original one, from UK !
Cool. If you don't want to watch it/haven't wqtched it don't make assumptions about it.

I usually hate American remakes, but I have to admit they did a good job on this
@44Kkrozzy the UK and US version are directed by different people. uk version was mainly written by paul abbott. the us version was mainly written by john wells. ( ER & southland ) the actors have more chemistry and the characters in the us version are better.

Somebody has news about a four season? ....Greating from Chile
oh yeah.
The american version is just better than the UK one for only two reasons
1. It has a budget
2. It has William H. Macy on it
this version is better than the uk version new season in january 2013
I'm English and really like both versions. The US one is brilliant
the luck you got. the high strung

@EdieKid 'The Luck You Got' by The High Strung. Great tune.
I correct myself it was Kevin picking up the jacket, not Lip.
@ThePiousBird
