Thank you Darragh for speaking on the history of the uilleann pipes. They provide a beautiful rich sound to the music. I could listen to you play all day!!
amazing, the passion of all these musicians is very obvious. I enjoy listening as much as they enjoy playing! I am very proud of my Irish heritage and music is in our blood.
Congratulations Anne! You have WON our Meet & Greet competition!! Please send us an email to info@celticwoman.com so we can arrange for you to meet the Celtic Woman girls online.
Most interesting. Don't think I've encountered this instrument before listening to Celtic Woman. And even then I thought it was something else. I may look into it more :)
You can easily hear it in the middle of their original cover of Orinoco Flow from the first album. Even better in The New Ground, an uilleann pipes solo.
I really like Uilleann Pipes. They sound a bit like Bagpipes, but there's a faint difference. I always wondered how air got into the bag without a mouthpiece, so really cool to know that they have bellows.
Amazing!!! You are all so wonderfully talented. I am not Irish but I stumbled upon Celtic Woman on Facebook and started binge watching videos and fell in love. I would love to see you all live one day. Thank you for your music and for sharing your God given talent with us all. God Bless ❤️
Thanks Darragh! I had never heard of thr pipes prior to seeing Celtic Woman and now absolutely love them. Thanks for the history of them as well as maintenence. Hope to see you at an upcoming show. -Gregg Dorn
Another great behind the music short history lesson. I've learned so much from these and hope you continue to do more. Looking forward to seeing everyone love again soon!!
They popped up in feed yesterday, been binge watching. Lovely music. Hadn't heard of them before, but I did see a Scottish group, Red Hot Chilli Pipers a couple years ago. I've always loved the pipes.
Thank you Mr. Darragh Murphy, not only for your playing of these wonderful pipes that warms the soul and fills the gap of need for Irish music, but also of the explanation of the history and the beak down of them. Stay safe my friend, and I’ll see you all soon on tour!
For all the times I've seen these played, I never realized some of the technical bits and bobs that go into it. I have just always loved the sound of them. The Uillean pipes make such stirring music, I am ways feel something rising in my spirit when I hear them.
I really enjoyed this video, I didn't now anything about the Uilleann pipes and Darragh Murphy gave a good history and in depth demonstration of the instrument. I loved. it.
Not that I want to do a Meet & Greet anyway, but I feel bad. I've watched this twice now, and as with the second week's bagpipes, I go away without anything to say. I guess it's how the pipes sound into me, because I enjoyed and learned from Darragh Murphy's heritage and instrument history, so please let me just say thank you, for each of this month's "Magic Behind the Music" offerings. It all was a charmed magic.
I have seen and heard these played, but never knew anything about them! I absolutely love the sound of pipes. Thank you for the lesson and demonstration!
Outstanding piece on the Uilleann pipes of which not much is known in the US. Everyone knows about bagpipes but this instrument was wonderfully explained by yet another one of Celtic Woman’s exceptional musicians. Well done Darragh!
Wonderful instrument!! Thankyou for the beautiful song you played and the history lesson 😊👏👏👍someone commented that these pipes are so calming, I agree, they are very calming and relaxing to listen to. Love to hear more of this instrument in the future!! P. S Looking Forward to seeing Celtic Woman again on Tour again!🙌🙌👏😊😊
That was a fascinating history of how the pipes have flourished. Thank goodness for all those clubs. I’ve loved the uileann pipes since the first time they had a solo in a Celtic Woman show, “The New Ground” in Songs from the Heart. I’m glad this instrument is always in the band.
WOOOoooow.🤩 This song at the end made all 22(give or take a plethora-most of my heritage is Martian. So the Martians told me...🤔) of the drops of Irish blood in me dance!!! It hurt. I'm OLD, dang it. I also learned I've been pronouncing the name of this amazing instrument wrong all this time(again, it's the Martian element. Martians have a lot of difficulties with the variations of Earth languages)... THANKS for clearing that up for me, & thanks for these splendid videos. I L💓VE this music!!!!!!!!! 💙🎵💞🎶💚
The Uilleann pipes have always been a favorite of mine. Thanks for the great history lesson and technical walkthrough. And of course, great job playing. ;)
It was cool seeing how the uilleann pipes work was well as how musicians first train to use them (starting with a practice set and then graduating to drones and then regulators).
I’ve always loved pipes! Unfortunately, due to a compromised respiratory system, I could never learn to play, but pipes music certainly does perk me up!
Cool! I had left a comment after John's video asking about the difference - now I know :-) Thanks! Also good to know that the 'intro' to Sive is actually called Jerry's Beaver Hut.
Very interesting. I wasn’t aware that there were more than one form of bagpipes until seeing and hearing uilean pipes being used in the Celtic Woman shows.
I absolutely love listening to any sort of pipe (these pipes, bagpipes etc.) All of them. By the way, I recently got the 2017 Celtic Woman Homecoming DVD & I believe you are the man on the Uilliieann (spelling?) pipes- I have literally watched this video more 15 times in 14 days (& I am about to watch it again just now.) I really hope the group can tour in the U.S. in 2022 & I can see the girls (& the rest of the group) live in my area in 2022
Its amazing to see how the Irish created such wonderful instruments before we really had technology in the world. The sound of the Uilleann pipes is so amazing and really creates such a strong desire in me to listen to this beautiful music.
Beautiful!

Darragh has a good personality and makes everyone smile while he is playing music.

The first time I heard the uilean pipe was at a Celtic Woman concert. I cried...it was so beautiful.

Thank You for keeping the Irish tradition alive. Our family came from Scotland and Ireland and appreciated the sounds of the pipes.

Homecoming was one of my favourite live shows / albums
Is that the show in front of a castle?
I saw a fair number of these instruments when I was traveling in Ireland back in 2019. Never knew there was so much history to them.
I love the magic of the Celtic Women.
Beautiful to listen to the pipes at the end.
Very informative video.

Digging a little more deep into the instrumets via those videos make me understand the Celtic Woman greatness in a more complex way, thanks for that!
Good to hear about the uilleann pipes. I knew someone who played them in my area.
I’ve always loved pipes! Unfortunately, due to a compromised respiratory system, I could never learn to play, but pipes music certainly does perk me up!

Ahhhhh I love Celtic Woman....I saw you guys in March of 2019 for my 16th birthday!!!
Oooh my eldest daughter loves Uileann pipes, especially the song "Homecoming Lament."

So interesting
What is the hardest part about playing in a concert? What kind of bagpipe is the biggest/smallest?
This was very interesting and neat.
The Uilleann pipes sound like birds in the morning
cool
