Fiona Harvey - Baby Reindeer’s real “Martha”- wants more from Piers Morgan after her first televised appearance to discuss the Netflix series. Following her claims that she’s the woman portrayed as comedian Richard Gadd’s stalker in the blockbuster Netflix limited series, Harvey agreed to a sit-down interview with the journalist on his Piers Morgan Uncensored UA-cam show last Thursday. Harvey told the Daily Record in an interview Tuesday that she had initially been offered a small sum to do the interview with Morgan. “They offered me £250 [$315] and I asked if that was what they paid everyone and, if so, I wanted to see documentation to that effect,” Harvey told the Daily Record. “That documentation has not been forthcoming. I have not signed a contract for the interview and I will be seeking far more than a piddling £250.” Instead, Harvey added, she is seeking significantly more for the interview appearance, telling the Daily Record, “I’d settle for a million”-which in British pounds would equate to about $1.25 million in U.S. dollars.

She said that it was just a few and that the evidence would show that. Now an MP is demanding the emails from Netflix and he told the BBC that there is no evidence of her being convicted of stalking. The problem is a Nestflix exc testified under oath to a parliamentary committee that she was. That would be contempt of parliament. A crime. We may soon know whether Netflix can provide thousands of emails to parliament. If not, someone may be going to prison. If they lied about her conviction, they could well be lying about it all. Gaad, like many authors may have based characters on people he knew and then created a fictional story in which they commit murder or other crimes.

I disagree with many of the takes here. People need to keep in mind she's a lawyer, if you've ever watched many lawyers on the stand(which is essentially what she's doing here), they speak in many of the same patterns you see her having here, the long pauses and thinking hard before she speaks in how she forms the response. Obviously she's not being honest about everything, nobody is, but I believe she's more honest than she is deceptive.

Fiona doesn't seem capable of keeping track of the lies she tells. The story is constantly changing. She's never seen the show but says she seemed to have written most of it in her sleep. (BTW if the show is mostly lies how could she have written any of it in her sleep?) And she knows so much about the show. She says she's never seen the actress that plays Martha but knows her name and age? You can't google someone without seeing a picture of them. There is so much of this flip flopping. She didn't send him anything. Well maybe less than 10 emails and 1 letter. She met his only 2-3 times. Wait 6-7 times. She only met him at the pub. Oh wait, I saw one of his shows. 2:13:34 the grades question - in Scotland you get an “ordinary degree” which isn’t graded. It’s pass or fail, takes roughly 3 years. Then, you can do an “honours degree” by staying for an extra year which is, nowadays, the most common thing people get. That’s graded. Back when she went to university, it would have been the norm to get an ordinary degree (pass or fail) if you intended to become a practicing lawyer and only get an honours degree (graded) if you intended to become a lecturer in a specific field. You’d go straight from the ordinary degree to an apprenticeship, which was how you actually qualified. In order to get her degree, she would have had to sit exams in each of the 13 subjects she mentions and pass all of them, but there would be no overall grade for the degree itself. With this in mind, what he’s asking her is “what percentage did you get in each of your final exams/essays in those 13 subjects 40 years ago?” Source - my parents are both lawyers in their late 60s and this was the case for them.

You might have confirmation bias if you watched the Netflix show. If what she is saying proves to be true. she is not detached from reality. The UK parliament is now demanding that Netflix provide evidence to support their testimony, under oath, to a parliamentary committee that the story is true. They are alarmed that there is no record of her having a criminal record. If they can't provide the emails or evidence of her criminal record for stalking, then she will be the victim of a horrific hoax.
If you accepted the allegation that she is a convicted stalker, you might be looking for evidence of that when you are seeing a person whose life was just destroyed dealing with unbearable stress. I am open to the possibility that this is the case since one of the top lawyers in the UK has gone on record that he is putting together a team of top US and UK lawyers. No top lawyer would do that with a person who was detached from reality. Nor would they put themselves or family at risk by dealing with a convicted stalker. Him going on the record and the actions of parliament tend to support her telling the truth that she and her boyfriend are lawyers who have professional and political contacts.

Few interesting bits of comment trivia here based on the interiew I picked up after watching the series and being fascinated like most people who was the telling the truth.
    1) When she says her other phone 'packed up' I think that British term was misunderstood by by Greg as literally packed away. What she meant is busted/no longer working. Now that's interesting, maybe it is or maybe it gives her plausible deniability and cover so if they did ask to look at her phone, she can present the one with 10-20 messages on rather than the one with 41,000 on.
    2) She did indeed sign all her messages with 'Sent by iPhone' even though she never owned or used one. And I think she actually typed that at the end of messages as in some of her messages it was mispelled or done differently. Why would she do that? I guess vanity to make it look like she owned a more expensive iphone, or again, as a stalker, plausible deniability...I don't own an iphone so you made these messages not me.
    3) I did extensive research on Fiona a deep dive into her background and life. She was a prolific stalker and harasser of people. Her ex-employer she would leave up to 180 voice mail/answering machine messages a day. She sent 100's of e-amails to the leader of the Labour Party and other political people after she fail to win an MP seat and they kind of distanced themselves from her. Her ex-employer ended up taking a court injunction out against her to stop the harassment that persisted for 5 years.
    4) Even when Baby Reindeer aired and after she appeared on Piers Morgan and the whole thing blew up she was posting on Facebook dozens and dozens of messages a day to herself, just like rants and attacks on the guy who made the series, people in the pub he worked, her ex-employer, people sending her hate messages, Piers Morgan, everyone. Some of the rant messages were a bit bizarrre and border-line delusional but I guess she was under tremendous stress from all the attention.
    5) After she announced Netflix had committed defammation and slander by calling her a convicted stalker who did 4 months in prison she got a Barrister and they announced Netflix was being sued for £10 million and Piers Morgan for £1 million. At this point, Parliament got involved and summoned Netflix to a Parliamentary Committee Hearing as the whole thing at first didn't sit right with people a potentially vulnerable woman with mental health issues possibly exploited in such a terrible way. Netflix executive turned up with their lawyers and defended the series and said it was absolutely all true but failed to provide any material evidence supporting the criminal conviction or prison time and nobody as far as I know has ever found any evidence of that. I looked extensively in my usual sources and couldn't any evidence so I don't think that part is true and may have been done deliberately to invite publicity/a lawsuit because Netflix presented each episode as 'This is a true story' which suggests 100% factually accurate but then at the end put a small print disclaimer saying 'some of the details changed to protect identities and the series is based on true events'.
    6) It turns out hardly anything Fiona said on Piers Morgan was true, allegedly and I found a lot of evidence to support that too. For example she claimed to be a lawyer on Piers show but on checking I found she never completed her training or took her bar exam and got invited onto the bar as a licensed practising lawyer. She had a law degree that much is true but she never has had a career in law as a lawyer and didn't complete her internship training or bar exam to qualify.

I thought it was really funny how many times Pierce asked her what marks she got in her law classes and she dodged for as long as she could before saying she didn't remember (but she has a photographic memory). I think his team had already looked into it and knew she never did any of it, so he really probed on things that people could look into and see her wiggle about them.

They then write their story about the character being a spy or a murderer. She was a lawyer and he was an aspiring comic working odd jobs. Women tend to be interested in men with the same or higher education and income. It is not an odd thing for her to think. A lot has been written on how this fact about female psychology is affecting the dating pool as more women are going to university than men. She says her boyfriend is a fellow lawyer.

While attempting to deny being a stalker, Fiona displays Martha's EXACT behavior-patterns. Her ACTIONS betray her words. We are observing, in real time, what Richard Gadd experienced in Baby Reindeer.

    • @MrMuckymouse
      @MrMuckymouse Місяць тому +6

No, what you’re observing, is the actual real person the character in the show was based on
You understand what an actor does right?
The writer/director tells the actor who they play the character and that way we can make film and stuff without the original people in them
So a professional actor being told by someone who has met Fiona, to “act” like Fiona, ie, speech, accent, movements, gestures, mannerisms etc is just that
It does not for one second mean you’re suddenly an expert psychologist
It means you’re seeing the woman the character is based on
It doesn’t mean any of the rest of the story is true
I mean, anyone could find an actor that looks like you, get them to dress like you act like you, talk like you, then shoot a movie that claims you were a serial killer
When people then look at you, do they see “the serial killer” because that’s the role the actor paid to act like you played and it’s what people saw
Or are you still just normal old you that someone has made a movie about?
Does it make any of the claims about you in the film true because the casting team were good or the actors were good?

She is preparing to sue Netflix and Gaad. She seems to be represented by one of the top lawyers in the UK, a KC. That lawyer has told the press he is putting together a team of top UK and US lawyers to sue Netflix and Gaad. She has also convinced at least one MP that a Netflix executive lied under oath to a parliamentary committee. He is now demanding evidence from Netflix that they did not commit contempt of parliament. These are not the actions of a stalker.
The MP told the BBC that nobody can find any record of the criminal conviction that Netflix testified was true. Getting these actions from parliament and a top lawyer, are not the acts of a convicted stalker. In fact, neither a top lawyer or MP would have anything to do with a convicted stalker. Her only mistake was not to go on Piers's show with her lawyer. She will probably not repeat that mistake. Not many mentally ill stalkers would have an MP telling the BBC that Netflix may be guilty of contempt of parliament in the first few days of fighting back. No MP would do that if he wasn't sure Netflix lied.

@MrMuckymouse Yes. I am confused why you have stated the obvious, here. My point is that Fiona's interview seems to validate Richard Gadd's experience and creative work relaying that experience. Baby Reindeer is a *dramatic* *reenactment* of a "true story." I was an acting/theatre major at a prestigious conservatory. Jessica's performance is brilliant. I will be applauding her when she wins the Emmy. I intend to be there to congratulate her, a fellow theatre actor, who deserves to be showered with accolades -- and her choice of future roles.

But I did not get any autism vibes from this lady here. Often we can "feel" it in others because their brains work more like ours than neurotypicals, but of course not all autistic people have the same presentation.

Credible ones are a lot worse than prank ones from teenagers. I have had both kinds. Some are annoying and others are terrifying if you don't have a gun to protect yourself and your family. Having an adult male threaten to kill you after saying they are the one who left a dead animal at your door is a lot worse than a teenager's voice not connected to proof they have been to your home. This would not occur to a halfwit. When the police tell you the call came from a payphone near where a political extremist group was meeting, that qualifies as horrible.

I'm Scottish and I went to the University of Glasgow. To become a lawyer, you need to do an LLB degree. Why didn't she say she had an LLB? Did she forget what it was called? Also, I wonder why she only did the 3-year Ordinary degree and didn't stay on to do her final Honours year. Most law students do the full 4-year Honours degree. Competition for jobs, traineeships, etc. is very high. So someone with just an Ordinary degree isn't going to get very far. Is she a Walter Mitty character? Are we going to find out she's not a lawyer at all and has been living a fantasy life?
