  • In this episode of Riichi Mahjong Guide, we go over another couple of sequence-based yaku: iipeikou and ryanpeikou. Iipeikou is relatively common, but ryanpeikou is rather rare.

Will the chiitoitsu added in this hand 2:22 when scoring or they'll only count it as ryanpeiko?

If the hand scores ryanpeikou, then it does not score chiitoitsu.
One of the rules for scoring is that a winning hand always has to be interpreted in the way that leads to the highest score. So because ryanpeikou is worth more than chiitoitsu, a hand that could be viewed as either is always scored as ryanpeikou. And these yaku do not overlap because ryanpeikou is two sets of matching sequences, whereas chiitoitsu is seven pairs, and you cannot interpret the hand as both sequences and pairs at the same time.

I think I got Ryanpeikou once. Pretty cool once you get it.
    but if you get 11s667788p667788m
Is it counted as chitoi or Ryanpeikou? Since I know that chitoi doesn't stake up with other yaku. I once had 334455p in my hand and didn't get the Iipekou bonus

In riichi mahjong, a hand is always scored as its highest possible value. Because ryanpeikou is worth more than chiitoitsu, a hand that fulfills the requirements for ryanpeikou is always scored as such and never as chiitoitsu.
