    Thanks, Jake. This will cure the odd disobedient arrow I seem to get, always down to a dodgy release (or lack of concentration or both!). You can't keep all the people happy all the time... over 16,000 of us happy now, great job in making us all better archers, Mate.

    So I have been trying this technique for the last two days, first off it feels very strange so I need time to get use to it, but WOW I am shooting so much better than I am capable off. I feel how much cleaner my release is, this is a game changer. I am laughing my butt off at the end of each round, the arrows just keep going where they are suppose to I am stunned. I hate to say this but this video is more valuable to me than your bow setup one from a few years ago.

    Related to an earlier video, I changed my draw based on your ‘90° elbow’ starting position to eliminate impingement. What a world of difference and no string of pops in my draw shoulder. The pops were beginning to concern me. The bicep tension is my next practice goal. Thanks and keep up the great work!

    You described my shot, exactly. I just put a bit of focus on tensioning my biceps, and bingo...group instantly tightened! Thank you so much for this instruction, and what you do for the archery community!

    I'm very new to archery, and this has been super useful, not just for improving my release discipline, but there's an added advantage. I find that if I can't activate my bicep, it means it's already activated which means I've drawn with my bicep not my shoulder and back muscles. Very useful little audit 😊

    Thanks Jake for preventing my injuries! It's amazing how you are the only one that gives such important advice.
    I find it so much easier getting into alignment since your last video. Tomorrow I'll try to make it work on the range, as well as the bicep tension thing.

    I watched this several months ago and went back to the drawing board practicing and being concious of the steel chain principle,the forearm being a relaxed link in that chain etc.and initially shot poorly till I got it into muscle memory and didn't have to over think it.. Shooting pretty good now.. Traditional recurve bows,off the shelf. Might add a clicker one day? Regards Jake, we're lucky to have the experience and knowledge of people like you available.You made a big change in my method.. I'd find it difficult to draw without a little bicep involvement..but just the 2 or 3 on the scale..all the best..archery is a great hobby, I'm 68 and getting stronger rather than weaker,got 40,45,and 50# Bear recurves. Like your understanding of anatomy too,

    Master this instruction and the other on tension and direction. If you do, it can transform you accuracy with traditional archery tackle. Even if you shoot shorter hunting bows like I do. It really does work!

    Saw this video today....tried the bicep tension today and holy crap! I was hitting my own arrows! I'm a novice shooting bare recurve, string walking, and just now feeling what "full draw" and "expansion" truly mean (though I'm working towards consistent expansion on every shot; still building strength and stamina). So am I seeing things, or is there a moment in the shot cycle where the bow-shake halts during nice slow expansion and bicep tension? Today's session was the first time that started happening, after a few ends of adding the bicep tension. Before I think I was trying to just 'muscle' the arrow point back on target, maybe anticipating the shake with mixed results. Can anyone confirm that proper draw/process will produce that window of 'stillness'?

    Dear Jake, thank you for this video. I have been instructed to draw without arm and biceps force but with LAN2. I practiced this for two years intensively but my release didn't get very much better. The last two training sessions I allowed myself to use the bizeps a bit more at aiming. I feel that my realase is getting smoother now. I will take some time to find the right balance but I am shure this video helped me a lot. Thanks again, you are great.

    Thanks Jake, as i understand correctly, the timing to add this bicep tension is somewhere between anchor and transfer? More specifically would like to ask if it should be applied when anchoring and keep it for the rest of the cycle?

    It's early days, but this is helping (even more than did @Kramer Ammons' advice "try to pluck a golf-ball off your shoulder every shot" :-) ), not least because I picked up pretty much on the same day. on another of your videos (about Transfer?) where you majored on being aware of your scapula (shoulder blade, right?) reaching the limit of its travel as the marker for 'full draw'. Progress in this sport (martial art?) is like building a world-beating cricket* team. It's all about the systematic aggregation of marginal gains being the road to excellence.
    * Cricket or rugby, in fact. As an American you can be forgiven for not knowing of these sports. Such knowledge may even be outlawed by your Constitution 😉

    Hi Jake. What do you think of the training drill where a coach or assistant puts a pencil in the crook of your draw elbow as you come to full draw? You need to keep just enough tension to hold/not drop the pencil through follow-through. Too much tension and you can't even release.

      I use that method to help with my expansion as well as to help make sure that I maintain a constant tension through release and follow through
