  • This is almost a companion video for my 1987 Pontiac Bonneville, its a 1990 Pontiac Bonneville LE, the standard engine is the 3800, and it is in great shape...another "How did it get here" and why can't I find these cars before they hit the junkyard? They'll squish it and it will be gone, time always ticks, we can't win them all.

I had a 1990 for a few years. Had a bunch of old car problems early on but was pretty reliable otherwise. Drove it to 351K and the subframe dropped out of the driver side of the car due to rust. Mine had a lot more options than this one, except no rear defrost, which always bugged me. I have several videos on that car on my channel. Would love to have another one. Non existent here in the rust belt.

Yes, I’m in “too cold for salt” Alberta, there are a lot of sweethearts around. This was a Canadian Provisions car, so block heater and rear defrost were standard on all models.

Amazing research on the automotive equivalent of a landline phone

Kinda, today’s cars are still made the same way, RPOs and everything.

When you find nothing but the owners manual in the glovebox, you know it was taken good care of.

Lack of stains and well kept interiors are also good signs.

The paint code on that one was very common for GM those years . Sprayed a lot of that color 😅 That car sparked a lot of memories for me 🥲

It was a really nice looking car, and honestly, with only the clear failing, work could have been done to bring that back.

Maybe off my 87. This car is 2.5 hours away from me normally.

Ugh, the die hard 3800 should not get crushed.

No, it shouldn’t, but it is.

If you want to restore a 99 ssei and can get it from Vancouver, then I have one I want to give to a good home. It has a transmission issue and a few other things but generally good condition. Save it from the scrapper!

That sounds awesome. I have a 1996 that has body damage and rust that is forcing me to part it out to myself. The downside for me for BC cars is out of province inspections🧐

Sad to see this thing junked with only 97K miles on it.

I find that a lot where cars should not have had a major mechanical failure yet.

Twilight Sentinel on an otherwise stripped car. GM weirdness at it's best.

Some were default, others just ordered weird.

It was law to have some form of DRL by 1990 in Canada. This was GMs way around it.
