Hakita did one bad thing in his whole career, if maurice still looked lower quality when everything else got remodeled to higher quality would have been amazing
I also remember reading an interview Hakita had where he stated that some of the messiest code in the game belongs to the Malicious Face since he hasn't touched it's code ever since he implemented the spider legs
yeah. and it is still a masterpiece only started playing in 2021(saw the demo of 2019(???, idk which year, anyway the first public demo), played it, but didn’t understand a thing and was like “boo hoo this is hard and unbalanced i don’t want it”, but a few years later here i am, 2 saves cleaned on P rank(one on violence, the other on unfinished UKMD, and i don’t regret any of 90h i put in it), kinda late to the party, but i love it.
The game is masterful, and I cannot imagine what it will be when it is finished. Fighting Gabriel is especially impactful; in act 1 his taunts mirrored my own internal struggles with self worth, and beating him became cathartic and fulfilling. And in act 2, his taunts again echoed my own fears of failure, and beating him - driving him to his realization - became an act of mercy. In short, This game is a masterpiece. I came for the fast paced action, and stayed for the work of art it is. Cohesive and driven, yet able to experiment and avoid taking itself too seriously, doing things for the sheer hell of it. Truly, ULTRAKILL is the game of all time. Thank you, Hakita, for your wonderful game.
I'm going to sound ridiculous admitting this, but... I discovered Ultrakill during a very dark point in my life, and it ended up serving as something of an emotional anchor for me while I got all of my shit sorted out. Fast-forward a couple years, and now I'm playing the game for charity marathons. It's honestly kind of crazy how much *good* this one game has done, and it's one of the extremely few games that I will openly admit having an emotional attachment to. I can only guess how ungodly stressful developing this game must be, and while I'm aware that a single UA-cam comment isn't really worth much, I still want to express my immense gratitude for seeing the game through.
I'm sure a comment like this means a lot to hakita, just like every single person supporting him means a lot. Development is a struggle, especially for a game with such a dedicated fan base such as this, and without a big group of devs. Seeing other people love what you do and showing full support is always great. And to see that something you have created has helped other people out of bad situations does make you happy.
I knew from the moment I randomly got my hands on the demo back in 2020 that this was gonna be one of the all-time greats, and it sure is shaping up to be just that. Thank you for the incredibly fun times. Here's to a smooth continued development and an eventual 1.0 masterwork.
Hakita please always remember that, even though this community can be a bit odd sometimes, we all love ULTRAKILL and we all really admire your and the rest of the team's work and dedication to this amazing game. Please never stop, you really are becoming one of the best game devs of this generation
Even if I didnt join the ride until Greed released, I just wanted to say that this work of love has gotten me through a lot and it really is impressive how far it got. Here for another 5 years!
Hey, it's aight gamer, I only discovered the game from Unfortunate Spacemen, bought it for the monster skin (around the time when act 2 was a myth and Minos Prime was this big shocker), and yet can you guess which of the two I play more now? Spoiler alert: It's Ultrakill
Music is so quiet, so calm, like watching a video of your children grow and getting better, Hakita grown his child and gave him to us, and this child is the best of ones we could get. Best game ever.
This video made me cry. Like imagining spending so many years of your life slowly improving your passion project. Failures and Successes; Scraped Ideas and new Ones. Building a game block by block, moment by moment. Making progress, being set back, and making progress again. Never stopping. Never giving up. Hakita has my ultimate respect for this. God bless the game design king
It really goes to show how rock solid the core of this game is when no matter how far you look back it is still IMMEDIATELY recognizable as being ULTRAKILL. This game saved my life. I still can't believe something as perfect and incredible as this game exists, seriously. Everytime I felt down, every time I felt like crying, every time I was bored, or happy, it didn't matter, I would always play this game, and it would boost my mood to the sky. The beautiful soundtrack, the hype I felt every time I replayed the campaign again, the happiness I feel every time a Saturday is dropped. This game is so incredible I can't even put it into words, I don't even think I can express how much I love it in any way, honestly. Congratulations for the 5 years, I can't wait to see this game complete.
hakita, i just want to express the uttermost gratitude for this game. I had first found out about it from a video i no longer remember. I told my friend to get the demo, and we tried to beat eachothers times. (i usually won) I looked up how to do 1-1 challenge, and he was like HOW. i convinced him to get it, and we were both SHOCKED. i think this game is one of the few games that holds a very special place in my heart. i love ultrakill. :D
Thank you for this incredible labor of love Hakita. Real talk, you’ve crafted the finest FPS ever made and it’s just your first public project. You’re legitimately a goddamn game design genius and I can’t wait for act three, as well as any future projects you have in store. Once again, thank you.
i don't know what it is about this game but something in my brain has just latched on, to every aspect- the environments, the MUSIC, the character designs, everything. It has no logic, no explanation as to why it's **this game,** but i feel so proud to be as obsessed with your game, of all games, and you should absolutely be proud of how much effort has come so far. Nice job hakita (and sorry i know it's late, i first got into it November of '22, then got into it again recently, i don't know how.)
Been playing ultrakill since it’s first demo release back in 2019? I can’t remember but I know I was in middle school at the time. I’ll always have a place in my heart for this game, as I’ve watched it grow into the beautifal masterpiece it is today. Thank you Hakita, for making a wonderful game that I always go back to
Literally one of the best games I have ever had the honor and pleasure of experiencing through its development. Ultrakill is genuinely the best shooter I've ever played and just one of the best games I even ever played in general, not just because of the amazing story, awesome mechanics, and cool style of it. But also because of the fact that it introduced me to NewBlood as a whole and all their other awesome games they've published. Faith, Fallen Aces, Dusk, Hell it even introduced me to Gianni as a voice actor (who is the funniest and greatest voice actor I have ever seen.) Ultrakill has given me a new perspective on shooters and I've just completely fallen in love with everything about it. Please keep up the insanely good work Hakita, but also don't forget it's more than okay to take breaks from it. We'll all still be here for you and this beautiful game, waiting to see what comes next.
this honestly makes me realize how much content you saved and re-worked into what we have today, even when ultrakill was just a small little online project.
Its really cool to see the development playlist, because having picked up the game for the first time recently, its one of those few games where you can really feel the love put into it. Its rare you have that much fun playing a game nowadays. I usually don't worry about taking the time to best games on their hardest difficulty or anything, but Ultrakill was an exception, I don't think there was a single part of the game I didn't have fun with.
It just makes me realise that we've been talking about and loving this game for a while. For some like me, it helped me through the pandemic and introduced me to gaming (the ultrakill demo was the first fps I had ever played on a pc-and I didn't even know u needed a mouse so I used a trackpad and still beat it with a p rank on violent) A lot of things have changed since then. Thank you Hakita, for everything you have done. And to all the other devs.
im so glad to be a part of this community. some of the chillest ppl ive met were in the ultrakill section of the NB server. i absolutely love the game, and can whole-heartedly say that Ultrakill, in my opinion, is the greatest single-player FPS game ever. the amount of hours ive poured into this game shows just how well-crafted it truly is. keep all of the the amazing work up. love ya, Hakita and Pitr
5 years is a long time when you think about it, at least on a human scale. Wild to see how much the game has changed since those earliest days (Cerberus and Maurice especially), but I'm happy to be able to watch the game take shape over that time. You and the team have done some great work Haikta, keep at it!
I bought your game two weeks ago and it so satisfying seeing development history. The deep personal touches not only to the gameplay but overall tone from the lore down to the way the menus look. It's damn impressive and inspiring. I already have 42 hours played, Christmas 2023 will always be associated with Ultrakill in my memory now.
Five years to create some of the best experiences with an FPS I've ever had. Totally worth it. Thank you for your effort Hakita, and all the others working with you at New Blood
I love ultrakill so much, I might have joined during the greed update, but it quickly became such a beloved thing to me, thank you so much for 5 years of Ultrakill, and I hope there are more to come
Hakita i truly have and will always admire you and your devotion... five years of development is just insane, seeing a game progress through the years to me is just beautiful and with (i think) a small team it must be difficult, godspeed Hakita, godspeed
Thank you, so much. You have inspired me, and I'm sure many, many other people, to make their own art. To make something beautiful of their own. I appreciate the game. And I appreciate you.
Hakita, you have no idea how much this game helped me through the quitting of drugs and my self discovory journey. Thank you for making this game. It saved my life :)
This game is something I didn’t know I needed in the best way possible. It’s style and radical bullshit gives it such a unique feel. Not only does the game lean into its weaknesses to make them its strengths, but it genuinely feels like the creators are both creators of and active member in the community. I got the game right as Gabe 1 came out, and it has never once disappointed me or left me unsatisfied with anything but my own skill level. Having such unique tech that leads to blistering speeds, incredible attack power and the most wild mobility I’ve ever seen in a video game also helps create one of the most lovingly made video games of all time. Everything in this product feels like it was made as a creative dream and never compromising. It’s bold, it’s creative, there’s nothing else like it and there never will be. Thank you for making such a wonderful experience Hakita, I appreciate the hundreds of hours of incredible fun
I played the game recently and it was a hell of a fun time. Seeing ultrakill grow so much and having such a fanbase, i almost feel proud. Hakita you magnificent bastard.
As a New Blood junkie I got on this game the second it hit early access and it's been such a treat to see it keep being improved, refined and expanded upon. This is honestly one of the best games in its genre and means a lot to me as I'm sure it does many others. Your hard work is evident in every corner of this game, and I'm beyond excited to see how it concludes. Thank you for devoting so much of your life into making this game and for making some banger music as well haha
Five Years? Damn, time flies hard, but thank you for this masterpiece of a game It's good to see independent projects like this, made with a passion get the attention they deserve, i hope we get more Ultrakill in years to come
I went through the playlist right as Wrath was being made. Honestly it's amazing to see a game progress from scratch into what it is today, especially something like Ultrakill which has literally one of the smoothest combat systems I've played with. Keep on keeping on Hakita, I can't wait to see what P-2 and Godfist Suicide bring us.
I've only started playing this game like in october of 2022. But man in the past few months of playing this game, i've had so much fun with it. I'm so glad to be a part of this community, even if i joined much later on this journey. I'll be sticking around as i get to see this game develop more over time, and i can't wait to see what is to come in the future. Thank you Hakita and everyone else who has worked hard on this game, giving us such an amazing experience! You are all loved, and I'm happy for everyone here! :D
Starting out as a gun, and a handfull of enemies, this game's and your journeys have been monumental. Keep up the good work! Also, I have an ideo. Every year for a week, the week of the beginnings of ultrakill, the textures revert back to their original forms, as a memorial to the humble beginnings.
i haven't been playing ultrakill that long. i'd been aware of it, but i only took the plunge into playing it on the day of act 2's release... which i guess is a pretty long time away. that was in august. what the hell? that aside, it's been forever since i really felt like i was witnessing something special from a game, and coming in late as i did, seeing the first sparks of its development is surreal. it's strange to think that one of the most intense and fast-paced shooters i've ever played had such humble beginnings, but it's also comforting, in a way. thank you for all your hard work. ultrakill is one of my favourite games, and i'm excited to see where it will go next.
Man I literally just finished the game again seconds ago and decided to click on the UA-cam button and noticed this got uploaded. You my guy have no idea how special of an experience I had with this game and it's NOT even finished yet. I commend you Hakita and the rest of the team of Ultrakill.
I only recently started playing ultrakill, but man was it one of my best choices ever. I love the community, and I can't wait to see what act 3 and the rest of the game will contain overall. Hakita, you're a great developer, and you've made an amazing game.
im so happy that you've not only been able to keep working on this game for as long as you have, but also having the drive to give your community updates on the development like this regularly. You clearly have put so much love into this game, and im glad people recognize it. Ultrakill is, and will be one of the best games of the decade in my eyes because of these reasons alone!
As a developer is beautiful to see an idea taken and being completely rewritten. Also this remind me that great things comes only with many mistake and discarded ideas on the project, and i can feel that sometimes in the night you were in front of your monitor without any idea and the day next you probably written half of the code of the game being possessed by the coding demon. Is just beatiful.
So glad to be a part of something so amazing, I've spent hundreds of hours playing this game and I still find joy in learning about the developers, interacting with the community, or some new game mechanic I can spend hundreds of hours more to master. You've made one of the best games I've ever played and I can't thank you and the development team enough. Whatever may come next, I'll be there for it.
It’s always really cool to me, as a comp sci student at college and video game hobbyist, to see games that have their full development pretty well documented. It’s amazing to see the progression from simple and barebones ideas into something a lot more polished and cohesive, and it’s a humbling reminder that i don’t have to have a full game from the start; just a solid idea that I can build step by step over time. Edit: I would add a heartfelt “thank you Hakita” to the above, as well as a compliment: Ultrakill is a really well-made game :)
thank you for the 5 years put into this project you have truly made a time less game and raised the bar for indie games you put new blood on the map man cant wait to see how this game will end
I'm disappointed that there is not a single reference to the 69th Ultrakill development video in here That one was clearly the most important in the timeline
I found this game on a whim while going through a rough break up and this game brought me joy, happiness, and out of all of it, was a great way to get any pent up frustration and anger out (using the rail cannon on a single filth) thanks for creating such an amazing game hakita. I've never seen mechanics like this before. Insanely unique and wacky and I can't wait to see where this game goes
The old videos are just another world. You are making one of the best games of all times continue like this, Congrats to you and all the crew behind the game
Thank you for making this awesome game, Hakita!! I've spent around three hundred hours on it, and I still play it nearly daily, and have been since May if last year! :D Thank you for making my second favourite game and continuing to make it even better!

We'll all still be here for you and this beautiful game, waiting to see what comes next.
ah, what a relaxing game.
The amount of love I have for this game can't even begin to explain how much you've made an impact on me, on all of us. Thank you.
this honestly makes me realize how much content you saved and re-worked into what we have today, even when ultrakill was just a small little online project.
I found the game because of Markiplier's video and it's honestly been some of the most fun I've had ever since.
Cheers to 5 years!
I found it out bc some random guy sent the cybergrind song into the meme server
Found the game because of woops
I found this game because of Max0r
found it through gianni
Same, I can't wait mark to play this game again
It just makes me realise that we've been talking about and loving this game for a while. For some like me, it helped me through the pandemic and introduced me to gaming (the ultrakill demo was the first fps I had ever played on a pc-and I didn't even know u needed a mouse so I used a trackpad and still beat it with a p rank on violent)
A lot of things have changed since then. Thank you Hakita, for everything you have done. And to all the other devs.
Congrats on 5 years, it’s been a hell of a ride watching ultrakill grow.
im so glad to be a part of this community. some of the chillest ppl ive met were in the ultrakill section of the NB server. i absolutely love the game, and can whole-heartedly say that Ultrakill, in my opinion, is the greatest single-player FPS game ever. the amount of hours ive poured into this game shows just how well-crafted it truly is. keep all of the the amazing work up. love ya, Hakita and Pitr
I love ultrakill so much, I might have joined during the greed update, but it quickly became such a beloved thing to me, thank you so much for 5 years of Ultrakill, and I hope there are more to come
5 years is a lot of dedication. Congrats dude, and congrats for making one of the most well designed games to exist
Hakita i truly have and will always admire you and your devotion... five years of development is just insane, seeing a game progress through the years to me is just beautiful and with (i think) a small team it must be difficult, godspeed Hakita, godspeed
Bless you and everyone who worked on Ultrakill, Hakita.
How this game isn't even done and is already such a good game is insane
Thank you, so much. You have inspired me, and I'm sure many, many other people, to make their own art. To make something beautiful of their own. I appreciate the game. And I appreciate you.
Hakita, you have no idea how much this game helped me through the quitting of drugs and my self discovory journey. Thank you for making this game. It saved my life :)
It’s confirmed that Hakita is 25 years old approximately
2:55 This post was fact checked by REAL ability users.
Hakita has no idea how to code, one day he just said it was "Ultrakilling Time" and here we are
Thank you for this masterpiece.
I love how the graphic slowly turns into the form which we know
2:41 Who saw it 🗿
IS THAT FUCKING JETSTREAM SAM
hakita I bet this vid gives you the feels. all the things you went through and the success. thank you for your hard work and passion.
Here’s to more years of ULTRAKILL!
6 years is approaching. Thank you hakita for making a game that is this good
this game is amazing and those 20% of your life have been worth it
I played the game recently and it was a hell of a fun time. Seeing ultrakill grow so much and having such a fanbase, i almost feel proud. Hakita you magnificent bastard.
I can’t believe how lucky I am to live during the time of ultrakill, this game is such a masterpiece
Five Years?
Damn, time flies hard, but thank you for this masterpiece of a game
It's good to see independent projects like this, made with a passion get the attention they deserve, i hope we get more Ultrakill in years to come
I went through the playlist right as Wrath was being made.
Honestly it's amazing to see a game progress from scratch into what it is today, especially something like Ultrakill which has literally one of the smoothest combat systems I've played with.
Keep on keeping on Hakita, I can't wait to see what P-2 and Godfist Suicide bring us.
1:00 aww, we could've had a black hole attachment?
I've only started playing this game like in october of 2022. But man in the past few months of playing this game, i've had so much fun with it. I'm so glad to be a part of this community, even if i joined much later on this journey. I'll be sticking around as i get to see this game develop more over time, and i can't wait to see what is to come in the future. Thank you Hakita and everyone else who has worked hard on this game, giving us such an amazing experience! You are all loved, and I'm happy for everyone here! :D
0:27 in Maurice model nothing changed(is it?)
5 years and still no sex
Wow it's been five years... WAIT IT'S BEEN FIVE YEARS!?
1:11 ammo confirmed?!?!?!?!
its the old blue shotgun core eject
i haven't been playing ultrakill that long. i'd been aware of it, but i only took the plunge into playing it on the day of act 2's release... which i guess is a pretty long time away. that was in august. what the hell?
that aside, it's been forever since i really felt like i was witnessing something special from a game, and coming in late as i did, seeing the first sparks of its development is surreal. it's strange to think that one of the most intense and fast-paced shooters i've ever played had such humble beginnings, but it's also comforting, in a way.
thank you for all your hard work. ultrakill is one of my favourite games, and i'm excited to see where it will go next.
I'm disappointed that there is not a single reference to the 69th Ultrakill development video in here
That one was clearly the most important in the timeline
Hakita, u genuinely revived my love for FPS games, with this MASTERPIECE, i hope you decide to do more in the future.
You are making one of the best games of all times continue like this,
Congrats to you and all the crew behind the game
Thank you for making this awesome game, Hakita!!
I've spent around three hundred hours on it, and I still play it nearly daily, and have been since May if last year! :D
Thank you for making my second favourite game and continuing to make it even better!
