My Dad flew a glider on D-DAY. It crashed like so many others, because the pilots were unaware of the height of the hedge rows the reconnaissance photographers took the pictures at noon when there were no shadows to judge their true height. Luckily, he was one of only five from his squadron that lived through D-DAY. It was an amazing and a horrendous day all rolled into one.

My grandfather was the brother of the Lt. Stanley Schwartz portrayed in this program. Sadly, Stanley was KIA by machine gun fire as the company made their way inland. He was awarded the silver star for destroying the barbed-wire obstacle, allowing his company to advance.

Edward Binns played the General. He played Beedle Smith in Patton.

A lot of bs. All the film of the landing was dropped into the sea.

Wrong. There is plenty of film taken on D-Day that survived. It's true that a large collection of film was lost at sea in the chaos of that day but there were hundreds of combat cameramen and others assigned to record every part of the invasion. There's enough footage here on UA-cam alone to keep a binge watcher busy for weeks.
