We also call them crayfish in Pennsylvania. The other pronunciation seems to be used in the southern states.

My grandmother, Lena, always had a container of chłodnik in the refrigerator. She immigrated to America in 1910.

Mmm. It is also 30C here in southern Ontario, Canada, so this is an excellent idea. Thank you.

I made this today with yellow beets because my store didn't have red ones. It is so delicious. Before adding the buttermilk, it would be a good salad.

in the 1960's I guess my grandma improvised and used the water from cooking the beets and used sour cream in it?

I just discovered your videos and have been enjoying them so much!
My family enjoys Cold Beet Soup that my Lithuanian grandma taught us. I never realized Polish people ate it too since that grandma never made it. I’ve always used cucumbers, never pickles.... though I’m eager to try your Pickle Soup! 😊 Happy New Year!

Thank you for your videos! Came across your channel a month or so ago and it's been exciting to learn about meals from the homeland. Have already made this dish twice - such a great summer meal!

So glad I came across your video! I tried making Beetroot soup (from an online recipe) a few weeks ago and it didn't turn out how I remembered it. P.S. Love your videos. Both my grandmothers were Polish descents and would cook homeland meals for the family. I wish I got to learn how they made these meals, but I was to young to understand. Now, I can make them through your teachings. Thank you!

I found this recipe on your website a few weeks ago!! Made it and LOVED it. I thought we’d have leftovers, but devoured it all in one sitting. Perfect for these extra hot summer days. I’m planning on making it again this week since it’s close to 100 degrees here in California. Thank you for sharing this recipe. Always enjoy the content!

The end of the pickle (the stem end) has been and always will be my favorite. My mom made the best dill pickles from the cukes in her garden. I make them too but never as good as my mother’s. Your elusive husband continues to humor us, and he mentioned WI, so I’m guessing he might be from my neighboring state. MN here. Now, let’s mention the soup. Oh yes. Tomorrow! ❤️

Great timing. I have roasted beets in the fridge. I have fresh dill in the garden. I have (way too many, if that's possible) fermented garlic dills in the fridge as well. Could you use the garlic in the dills instead of fresh?

If you have an air conditioner in only one room, open the door and put your fan in front of the door, and suck the cold air out into the other parts of your home
