🤩I love these Neocolor II's💜& neo1's! Would you make a YT Urban sketch series using Neo1's, 2's & Ink?? ..Plz? ?🙏 I combine a bit of all 3 & I've got some vibrant, playful, beautiful results😍All CARAN D'ACHE products are light-fast,fun to use& clearly made for artists! Thank you very much Toby for trying to give your viewers what they request. you ARE an amazing creator. Thank you again🤩
@@TobySketchLoose That would be great!..I started with the smallest set of both, fell in love with them & later got the larger sets! FYI ..you can purchase them individually too! I love using Caran D'ache products💜 Thanks again Toby 🤓
Nice demo! The 10 set has always been in my out and about urban sketch kit. Actually I should say the 10 tin as I've changed out a few colors in that skinny little tin. Highly versatile. Run your water-brush / wet brush across the back of the Neo and paint as normal. You can outright paint with them normally in line & wash. This is their biggest advantage. You don't have to just draw with them. Use them for a large areas , use them on top of dried watercolor like a regular crayon, mix them in the pallet by scribbling color on the mixing well. You can even draw an X on a rock (a clean one 😅) , a piece of porous plastic, etc then take your water brush and lift the color; paint. Take one or 2 along you don't have in your pallet to use. They're super Crayons.
They make a plastic palate that is white plastic and is smooth on one side and textured on the other. You can mix these colors by scribbling on the texture and then mix like watercolor. I've read posts of people using cutting boards for this as well.
That was an excellent demonstration of the Neocolor IIs. I have slowly collected my colours since I bought a "starter" tin of 10 colours. I now have 40!😅 I will try the techniques you shared on my next outing. Thanks
Took these with me on holiday after seeing your out and about. They were great. I used to fuss about with pencil and watercolour but I’ve found that pen and oil crayon is the way to go for me. Thanks for the great content.
Thank you Toby, from your previous recommendation, I bought the small set of Caran D'ache. There are such fun to use and honestly make you feel like an instant artist. A recent dry day turned into a damp one so armed with just my crayons, water brush and liner pen, I set of for the dry coffee shop, great fun, I completely lost track of time. Appreciate the simplicity of how you present your art 😊
Thank you so much, Toby, for this excellent demonstration! I couldn’t quite figure these out for myself before your video. I’m especially grateful for your showing of how much (or little) paper coverage is necessary or desired. You’ve encouraged me to try them again, especially out in the field. Cheers!
😍neo 1& 2s are just AMAZING! and they make all the same colors! If the price is what has stopped you, I encourage you to purchase their smaller sets! You will Not regret it! 😍
10:10 you can premix color with these-Caran d’Ache sells a white polypro mixing palette for their water soluble tools but you can use a white polypro cutting board from the dollar store in the same way
That's precisely the thing, they WERE available in a set of over 100 colors. The reality is that they are available in 84 colors. The fact that there are some sellers who still have them available does not imply that the Neocolor II come in more than 100 colors. THEY CAME IN MORE THAN 100 COLORS, PAST TENSE. To say they come in more than a hundred colors is inaccurate and misleading.

One of the best demos of these I have seen.
Those look fun. It’s very helpful to see them being used. Thanks.

Thank you so much for showing how to better use my water soluble pastels! Love your painting!
I love using my Neocolor crayons, there is something very freeing and nostalgic about them, and yet they still give great results.

Love this. Thank you. Perfect for a new Skillshare class. I follow you there too. 🙏🏼💕
I bought these cause I thought they would be fun. However, I see I was unnecessarily intimidated!! Thank you!❤
No worries!
If apply the tones you need for a back ground mist them with a water spray leave them to dry you then have soft background to continue over
This was really helpful. Lots of ways to use these magical crayons.
Great video. I love the way you explain things. I’m going to bring some on my upcoming road trip to Vancouver 😀
Please do!
This inspired me to get my Neos out; thanks Tody!!
Have fun!
As always in awe of you great skill!
Thank you! Cheers!
Been thinking of getting some of these. Great video🎉

Love the sky!
🤩.. try dipping your pastel in water, then sketching on dry, cotton, hot pressed paper. 🤓

this is so great !!
Would or should you use different brushes than your watercolor brushes?
Same brushes
😮 whaaaat...? You mean we've been doing wrong since forever 😅😂
I'm really not sure I understand...
@TobySketchLoose omg I'm sorry... that comment should have gone in a video about how to saw wood 🪵 😅

They have a 126 colour set which you can find on eBay, it's been discontinued but you can still find it

@@veystone2580 gosh sorry, when I said 'I think over one hundred colours' I did indeed mis-speak, didn't mean to offend
@@TobySketchLoose 😅😅😅😅 no, no!!!! No offense my friend! 😆 Is all good! 🥰
