Takes a lot of work with feral cats but it is so rewarding. Nine years later my feral cat still runs from me if I approach to quickly; so I always walk slowly towards him so he doesn't get scared. He truly is the sweetest cat ever, loves to be petted, held & literally does not do anything wrong. I will always adopt the scared, shy animals because they're amazing once you get them to trust you. Took a lot longer than I expected but it is so so worth it :)
I have tamed several ferals. The fastest way I know is sneak up with food. Takes two weeks. You gradually sit closer and closer while they eat. Animals respond to verbal cues so I keep talking to them the whole time. After I can sit with them while they eat, I bring out the petting stick. This also takes two weeks. You play with the feather wand and alternate by stroking them with it, while holding it at the furthest end and with arm fully extended, maintaining the greatest possible distance. Each day, you get a bit closer, until you are so close you could reach out and pet the cat. At this point you point this fact out to the cat. You say things like, I could just use my hand. It feels better than the feathers. It feels really good. You could initiate it by rubbing on my hand. It usually works within ten to twenty minutes, where they will decide to rub themselves 9n your hand (you have to put down the stick at some point and extend your hand in the same manner. Once contact 8s initiated, you can only speak and encourage, but not move 9r be actively petting. That comes about three days later. They have to feel in control. You should always start each session with play and stroking from a distance and let the cat close the gap. This technique works so well. After a month or so (or often much less time) I bring a collar and food bowl. After play and petting I put on the collar and invite them inside to eat. Sometimes * can just pick them up and carry them, other times * can put them in a carrier or put the food in the carrier and let them walk in. All of this is after I have told them repeatedly that I'd like to bring them inside where it is warm and safe and let them know they would really like it and how nice it is. Establishing a psychic bond 9f trust and communication really facilitates training.
@@LuckyFerals In the video titles and commentary refer to Boo as "Johnny Depp" and Stella as "Amber Heard" guaranteed millions of views. People love that celebrity garbage.
Regarding Boo's FIV diagnosis: My Jax is also a feral rescue. I took him in to be neutered once I got him in my house. At the same time, they gave him his first vaccinations. The next time I took him to a vet he was diagnosed with FIV. I have mentioned to that vet that he was given his first vaccine series & wouldn't that cause a false positive. So far that idea has been brushed off, but Jax acts & looks healthy so that's how I treat him. Jax is very loving and attached to me, but hides if anyone comes to my house or often even drives by. I am going to try the rescue remedy drops to see if it helps him get less fearful. I very much enjoy watching you interact with your 4-legged babies & learning about the various treats, etc, you give them. Jax is my 6th rescue (Jax's mom & 2 siblings disappeared the day I had planned to bring them in). My kids get frustrated with me, but I cannot watch an animal show up hungry & ignore them.

This sounds exactly like my feral cat. This is how she is 9 years later except she doesn't like to be picked up

I have to try out new strategies since UA-cam changed their algorithms. It’s having a very negative effect on this channel.
@@LuckyFerals That's youtube for you!

We had an FIV+ for 17 years. He was a feral cat, he came up to our house when he was around 2. He was never sick.
hydrox meow was so cute but it was probably strained
This was filmed 5 years ago. she was fine
❤🎉
I read cats don't like dishes that their whiskers rub on the sides of the dish. I know my cat likes a flat plate to eat out of.
Biskit and I have watched many of your videos. Wondering what happened to Boo that it was necessary to shave his hip?
Here you go - ua-cam.com/video/YArSJ-FpLMg/v-deo.html
Why do boo teeth look like they are coming out of his mouth?
Plastic and metal dish not good??
We try to avoid plastic. Stainless steel is okay. Glass or ceramic is the best but obviously you have to be more careful with it.
Last seen Simba wasn't feeling well, haven't been able to get caught up with that, how is Simba
